  1. Have you had a chance to try that list out? I'm curious as to how it performs. I'd be scared to put half my points into one ship. Lol
  2. That was my thinking for dangerous territory as well and it actually Proved helpful in my game last night. I lost pretty badly, lol, but a lot of that was due to me not remembering things after not having played in a year. On of the mc30s got one shouted by an ISD before it had a chance to do with anything so that was pretty depressing but otherwise it was a big learning experience. I'm not sold on gunnery teams though. I fell like for them to be worth the points you really have to play to the upgrade. Against 2 ISDs they were pretty useless as both ships were never in range but I'm curious to try it some more before giving up. The a wings did ok but I'm curious how this list would fare if I dropped all fighters and were able to squeeze in a couple of cr-90s. I feel like I can fit two if I try.
  3. That makes a lot of sense. it didn't occur to me that the card gets dealt automatically regardless of shields. I can definitely see why it's worth taking. Any thoughts on squadrons and missions?
  4. Thanks for the input. I've made the adjustment to the ships and left off the turbos on home one but I'm not sure about the APTs. They seem like theyd be situational. Are they really that good? This build leaves me 69 points for fighters. Unfortunately, I only have one set of the scum and villainy so I can't span the yt-2400s but I do have a 3 sets of the regular fighters. I can go full out with 6 a-wings which will leave me a meager 3 point bid but Im open to other options as well. Should I go x-wing instead? Also, are the missions above the best to go with for this fleet? I don't have a lot of experience so I wasn't sure which scenarios would be best for a build like this. Thanks again for the help! 1 • MC80 Command Cruiser - Admiral Ackbar - Leading Shots - Home One (155) 2 • MC30c Scout Frigate - Gunnery Team - Assault Proton Torpedoes - Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (88) 3 • MC30c Scout Frigate - Gunnery Team - Assault Proton Torpedoes - Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (88)
  5. I haven't played in quite some time (wave 1) as he group in my area kinda fizzled out but I recently moved to atlanta and there seems to be a good community of players here so I thought I'd jump back in and pick up where I left off. I've picked up most of the ships. All im missing are the interdictor and the gazantis but The idea of maximizing on broadsides in naval combat was too good to pass up so I thought I'd give Ackbar a try. This fleet is pretty straight forward. Its designed to maximize on ackbars ability while the A wings are there to tie up incoming bombers I'm not sure how good it is since i haven't played in quite some time and the objectives were pretty much just a guess but it at least looks fun to try out on Thursday at the next armada night. C&C appreciated and welcome. Thanks! Broadsides400 Faction: Rebel Alliance Points: 399/400 Commander: Admiral Ackbar Assault Objective: Advanced Gunnery Defense Objective: Fire Lanes Navigation Objective: Dangerous Territory [ flagship ] MC80 Assault Cruiser (114 points) - Admiral Ackbar ( 38 points) - Home One ( 7 points) - Electronic Countermeasures ( 7 points) - Heavy Turbolaser Turrets ( 6 points) = 172 total ship cost MC30c Scout Frigate (69 points) - Gunnery Team ( 7 points) - Enhanced Armament ( 10 points) = 86 total ship cost MC30c Scout Frigate (69 points) - Gunnery Team ( 7 points) - Enhanced Armament ( 10 points) = 86 total ship cost 5 A-Wing Squadrons ( 55 points)
  6. I've never really tried the quad laser since the range usually scares me away but I do worry about ships getting in close so I think I will give ti a try. The thing about positioning that worried me is having the raider to far off to one side and it getting cut out of the game. THis was the case in the last team epic event I played in where it got shunted off to one side and didn't even get to fire until the final turn. I figure that my fighters will fly fast towards the center making a wall between the enemy and the raider. I'll try to tie up (lol) most ships in the center and then blast away with the raider from the back. I shoule be getting at least a couple epic games in tonight so I'm excited to see how it goes.
  7. I'm not sure I understand. I mean I like howlrunner, but youngster with rage is far more effective netting you a focus plus 3 reroll instead of howlies 1. Plus, rage will extend out to range 3 while howlrunner only works at range one. I put epsilon leader in to strip away the stress from rage allowing them to potentially trigger it each turn if they can stick to greens. Is it really still worth it to bring howlrunner? I considered flying her with the raider to use swarm tactics but I didn't the it was worth the points since I could put decoy on jonus instead. Howlrunner does require you to fly in formation, but it's far more effective than Epsilon Leader + Youngster, which is a combo that falls apart if one of those ships dies. Epsilon Leader and Rage Youngster is a fantastic backup plan, but you want Howlrunner, and it won't hurt your squad to fly the TIE's in formation. Relying on Youngster as the primary plan reduces the dials on all your TIE Fighters to green maneuvers only, which is far more restrictive than staying at range one of Howlrunner, which your squad would have to do with Epsilon Leader anyway. If you insist on making Youngster the primary plan, I'd find room for Comm Boosters on the Raider so that you can clear stress on your TIEs after they Rage out. Just my two cents. I see what you're saying. You make a good point about Howlrunner. I prefer her over going the comms booster route since it only affects one ship. If it could work on a swarm that would be great. I wish they would release a card for epic that was specifically meant to really help an epic ship boost a tie swarm. Its fluffy and needed I think. That way the synergy would have the swarm dependent on the huge ship rather than one particular tie which makes more sense. So with the changes, here's what I'm thinking: EPIC TOURNAMENT LIST Up to 5 epic points. No more than 12 of any small ship. No more than 6 of any large ship. 299 points PILOTS Raider-class Corvette (aft) (81) Raider-class Corvette (50), Captain Needa (2), Shield Technician (1), Ion Cannon Battery (6), Ion Cannon Battery (6), Sensor Team (4), Engineering Team (4), Engine Booster (3), Optimised Generators (5) Raider-class Corvette (fore) (71) Raider-class Corvette (50), Single Turbolasers (8), Tibanna Gas Supplies (4), Instigator (4), Automated Protocols (5) Captain Jonus (24) TIE Bomber (22), Decoy (2) “Howlrunner” (18) “Scourge” (17) “Epsilon Leader” (19) “Youngster” (16) TIE Fighter (15), Rage (1) “Wampa” (14) Obsidian Squadron Pilot (13) x 3 View | Tweak | Export as XWS Any input would be greatly appreciated. If anyone has any thoughts or tips on starting placement or tactics that would be great too. I know the ties will swarm but I will pretty much be the first one on the board so what would be the best way to place the raider and swarm so that I'm set up well for the game? Thanks!!

  9. Thanks for the reply! I agree on the turbo laser and will make the change. Any thoughts on opening positions for the raider? Odds are it'll be the first ship placed on the table so I was wondering what an optimal placement might look like. Thanks!!

Comment and criticism welcome. Thanks!
  11. I'm not opposed to weapons guidance but my main issue is lack of the card as I only have 1. I think i prefer comms relay too as well as it keeps them around pretty well. I have toyed with predator on the decimator but I don't think I would field it without gunner. IMO, the extra attack from gunner after the first one whiffs has been majorly beneficial in my games. Also, I've run ysanne isard with vader as she mitigates his slow roll destruction of your own ship, But is she as necessary when you're just using it as a tank?
  12. I'm relatively new to X-wing (played for a bit a year or so ago and have only just gotten back into it) and I've been trying to come up with fun and fluffy imperial list that could still be a little competitive. I like the idea of using a mini swarm as it seems so much more classic imperial than just a single tie like the phantom to compliment the decimator. I've played a few variations of this list and they seemed to do pretty well, though my opponent was also new. I did bring a similar list using 4 academy pilots and a more barebones decimator to a tournament and it didn't do to badly. I finished in the middle of the pack and 2 of my 3 games were extremely close. I haven't tried it with the seismic charges but I have with antipursuit lasers and they were ok but Ion projectors also look promising. Any thoughts? C&C welcome. Thanks! Oicunn (55): Determination + Seismic Charges + Recon Specialist + Gunner + Dauntless (55) Epsilon Squadron Pilot (15) Epsilon Squadron Pilot (15) Epsilon Squadron Pilot (15)
  13. no pics. Upload to another site and use a url. imgur works well.
  14. Amazing work!!! Very impressive and the detail is so rich! Its funny, but in the thread, I feel like the phrase "I did mine with sharpies" just sounds like a joke. lol Great job!!
  15. Some factions I would like to see added are: Scum and villainy (mercenary fleet) Grand Republic Navy Separatists Alliance (they actually have some great ships.
