  1. Can we assume this likely means it has been submitted - we are just awaiting Apple's approval process?

Probably, I think they might have already the app tested, but now they are testing platforms bugs and stuff, remember it is not only going out for IOS but also for Android, at the same time

  2. Another announment has been done (again) through Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/BE86Q8ckcCc/

    They say the following:

"fantasyflightgamesThis could be your team's first quest in Descent: Road to Legend. The app is coming out imminently!"

What intrigates me is the second comment "fantasyflightgamesWe'll publicly announce on our website & social when it's ready to go. Any day now."

  3. Once you are editing the quest there is a button that says "Quest" in the top of the map. You click there and then a menu pops, then click on "Settings" and a window should appear where it shows the name of the quest, descriptions and the expansions featured in the quest. There you can add and delete expansions.

After doin that, you return to the "Map" and at the right should be a button at the bottom where it shows the name of the expansions, click the ones you have already add and thats it. It should be have the expansion you want.

  4. Official answer time! *Drumroll*

... at which point the ability on Zyla’s weapon would no longer be applied and she would not recover 1 health.

    ...

Aha, see mistiming. However, I like more the answer Zaltyre posted, it is more practical.

Anyhow, it will be interesting to see how they will rule the Crumbling Terraing vs the Broodwalker.

  5.

All this waiting around is making everyone salty...

Wait until people find out the app will have a release delay of "a couple more weeks"  hehehe

See, I was also skeptical they really have the app with "ALL" of descent content aviable since the beginning in just a month, and tested ofc.

Here is the souce (the last comment of FFG says: "fantasyflightgames: Looking like a couple more weeks." after someone asked "How long".) and if my device isn't wrong, the comment was made 5 days ago (23 of april). It comes from the same source where it said they were aiming for a release at the end of april.

I was also hoping to play it this weekend, but...I wasn't really that excited.

Perhaps, it comes out after the Chains that Rust  as this was the last thing in the current news agenda.

[Edit]: Although, now that I see it from other perspective, it isn't really a release delay, we never had an actual date. It just beacuse they were specting to have it done for may, and due to the exciment of the news, the date was set by the comunity.

  6. Aha! After some thinking Atom I would say I will have a solution to your question (about Dark Charm vs Reaper's Scythe)

See, at first I was curious too, how did FFG missed this. Well, the thing is the timing effects and word interpretation.

I used Dark Charm on Zyla, our Necromancer, and used it to attack herself. She had the Reaper's Scythe starting weapon. She defeated herself.

Thanks to Dark Charm, she counts as a monster at that point. Does the "Each time you defeat a monster with this weapon, recover 1 damage" trigger, and so, does she stand up again?

First, as you stated, she performed the attack while being treated as a monster. “However, if at any point during an attack all affected figures or the attacker is defeated, the attack is immediately resolved without performing any additional steps.” (Page 3 of Zaltyre’s Glossary Terms). This in the part of attack resolution.

Additionally, in page 13 of the Core Rulebook it is said “when a monster or a hero suffers damage equal to its health (the one represented in their sheets or card) it is immediately defeated, in case of heroes knocked out, see page 15 ‘knock out’”. (I would edit this quote when I arrive home to have the actual text quoted).

So then, the Knock Out section says “when a hero is defeated, it immediately suffers fatigue equal to his stamina, damage equal to its health (in case of being defeated by other means) and the figure is replace with a hero token... The Overlord immediately draw an Overlord card.” (Also, I will edit this quote).

From the sentences quoted above, there are 3 effects that happen before any other effect:

    1.      Suffering damage and fatigue equal to the figure (in this case, the hero) stats.

    2.      Replacement of the hero figure for the token.

    3.      The overlord drawing a card (or gaining a token, due to the rule for substitution) for knocking out a hero.

Therefore, the key term here is the word immediately, which causes that any timing problem to be hierarchized into time prioritization.

This relates to the topic because at the moment Zyla suffered damage equal to her health she was defeated, and due to the interpretation done above, the 3 immediately effects will trigger, transforming her from a monster into a hero token, and then, not triggering the effect of the Reaper's Scythe due to a mistiming event.

Otherwise, if a precedent is set for under the interpretation of her being treated as a monster uder that circumstances, then you could have this other problem: “Death’s Hand” tainted card would also trigger.

In conclusion my friend, I will say that no, the Reaper's Scythe effect won’t trigger due to a mistiming event, and then, Zyla would be, as any other hero should be in those Mistlands,   DEAD muahahahaha

  7. YES! YES! YES! I support the idea.

I think Zaltyre's Glossary is becoming a pretty definitive source of answers to rules questions, and is far better than the FAQ as a source of answers at this point. And everything in there does come from FFG rulings, so it is also authoritative.

To assist, whenever some new ruling is posted, I've tried to mention that it should be added to the Glossary to improve upon it. Hopefully Zaltyre catches these :)

A new FAQ from FFG would be nice, but my confidence that it would be as thorough and complete as Zaltyre's efforts is not particularly high...

Definitely, his Glossary has become, at least for me, a must have in all my games. Due to it, I bearly had had questions to solve. I either solve them through this concepts or see if the comunity had already asked them.

While we are asking for stuff how about taking the quest vault out of beta and making that into an app.

Although I would LOVE this to happen too (at least so they can fix/add somethings) I will rather have a better FAQ.

Additionally to the FAQ it would be nice to see if FFG could upload the cards that had been changed so we could print them and have the game updated,IMO.

  8. Well, he's a lieutenant that appears in 3 different campaigns, and also, due to "Splig's Revenge" can spawn almost in every quest in LoR campaign hahahaha  :P Anyway, I think you should follow Umar's advaice, I also had to wait for a year to get LotW and Serena. Now I own them both but took me a while. I'm still waiting for Alric and Zacharecth thou, I cannot find a place to buy them

Anyhow, I think only time will tell hahaha Good Luck with your search  :D

  9.

Strange Awakening is tough for the heroes- but yes, Zyla can fly right on by.

It just got mentioned in another thread so it got me thinking:

With the errata “The quest rules listed in the Quest Guides takes precedence over cards, abilities, and the rulebook" in mind,

wouldn't the fact that the quest rules say "pieces of rubble block movement and line of sight" overrule Zylas ability? ;)

Hahahaha now, that's abuse of "interpretation" my friend :P very clever of you. You can argue that, it is a valid argument (for me at least)...however, that won't stop her, specialy in that Quest, as she can still move through the obstacles in the tile...

  10. Well, that is an interesting loophole. Although, as to my humble opinion, I will solve it as follow:

As a lawyer, I see only two conflicts here, the Quest Rules vs the Trigger Mechanic from the Overlord Plot Card.

    1) The Quest rules says:

    Encounter 1:

"Set aside [...] and each monster on the map. Each monster keeps all damage..."

    Encounter 2 (setup):

"Then, place each monster that was set aside in Encounter 1 in the Ford."

    2) Then, what Zaltyre pointed out is also important. The summoning agent effect is tied to a trigger caused by exhausting the Plot Card. Then, if this card refreshes, the effect is no longer applied, resulting in the agent to be remove from the game.

    My solution

However, due to the text in the last errata saying:

The quest rules listed in the Quest Guides takes precedence over cards, abilities, and the rulebook”.

Although, it refers to the core rulebook, I should extend that term (rulebook) to any other rulebooks (the rule of summoning an agent comes from Lt Packs book, as it is the one that explains the summoning effect, the one that has the effect in conflict).

Therefore, I will solve the problem as Indalecio’s first approach “the agent will spawn in the map in encounter two”, as the Quest Rules overriding the summon mechanic from the Lt Pack rulebook.

I hope I explain it clear hehehe as English is not my native language, terms are difficult sometimes for me. Nevertheless, that’s how I see, and how I would solve the problem.

  11. - sasquatch (since there is only 3 ice monsters at all and need more)

    This.

If they keep with the normal H&M Packs (4 heroes/3 Monsters), I also hope they add more Water/Ice Monsters, we lack on those choices.

The question is what could be new monsters to create ?

Personnaly, I want to see :

    - werewolf

    - corrupted treant

    - cocatrice

    - fire dragon

    - goblins on wargs

    - sasquatch (since there is only 3 ice monsters at all and need more)

I would also want to see Uthuk Ylan monster, but maybe in a small box like Mists of bilehall

My guess is that we do not see anything new this year (probably chains that rust will bring some different monsters and that´s it. Hope for some new classes).

2015 lineup -  released  three HM packs (Guardians of Deephall,  Visions of Dawn and Bonds of the Wild), Dark Elements coop and Heirs of Blood campaign.

2016 lineup - three HM packs (Treaty of Champion, Stewards of the Secret and Shards of Everdard), Mists of Bilehall campaign (with three lieutenant packs), Road to Legend + Kindread Fire coop (possibly they release one more campaign for the app) and Chains that Rust.

But yeah, I think you are probably right.

At least what I would like to see (at least in 2017) is either a Water campaign (similar to sea of blood), and an Ice campaign too. That would be nice hahaha

  12.

Though I have to admit, a dwarf-party sounds funny.... with a bit of roleplaying added it would be a pretty cool gameing session :P

My friends though about this and they used last game:

    Corbin - Knight

    Ulma - Discipline

    Raythen - Wildlander

Grsiban - Benserker (I think there's not a Dwarf mage)

Then, they realized they could play a more themathically party (I want to see if someone recognize it)

    Griban - Benserker

    Tomble - Thief

    Elder Mok - Prophet

    Lindel - Wildlander

I tried the first group in a solo play co-op of Forgotten Souls with

    Corbin - Knight

    Augur Grisom - Prophet

    Raythen - Thief

    Krutzbeck - Berserker

Not the best party combo, but it was very fun! gave it a Hobbit vibe, "were going into the Dragon's lair to take back our treasure boys!"

As far as the 2nd group, I thought you were going for Gimli, Legolas & Frodo but Elder Mok threw me off... I'm curious as to the answer

Yeah, he suppossed to be Gandalf but there isn't a healer that looks like him, and we didn't want to take no healer beacuse we were playing Forgotten Souls and due to the lack of health potions and no healing, well, it is risky. I said Brother Gherinn could be, but they said no, then someone said Augur Grisom, but he's a Dwarf too. Anyhow hahaha we did felt we were scaping the Balrog (Shadow Dragon).

  13. I will agree with all of the answers above, even the one of crumbling terrain. In the rule book it says that "this expansion introduces a new type of terrain token", featuring the word terrain, thus Zyla effect will apply. That’s what I think.

As for the other topic. I played recently MoB, even though it was solo (because I always play a new expansion I buy solo before playing with a group to familiarize with it) I can tell that I found Basic II a strong deck in the beginning, but it fell in the last quests.

My campaign (as you can see it in your site) had for heroes:

    Rindel – Apothecary.

    Corbin – Knight.

    Lindel – Shadow Walker.

    Jaes the Exile – Runemaster

Plot deck: Inner Corruption – Rylan

    Basic II

The highlights of Basic II are obviously Mimic and Befuddle, but also, especially in MoB I would say Blinding Speed and Overwelm. Mental Error was useful for me due to Corbin defending his teamates everytime. The strategy in the heroes side was to protect Rindel from getting KO, and avoiding getting locked by the tainted effect, Corbin always protecting him with “defend”, therefore, I always tried to either to move him with Lash or something, or putting the master broodwalker (that’s why Blinding Speed was for), or using howl with barguest to eat the stamina of Corbin (Befuddle to ensure the failure) and then prosecute with the plan (killing the healer). But yeah, due to Lindel being a free man, running all over the map, passing any attribute test… heroes manage to obtain good money. He seemed unstoppable until, the luck was on my side. If he gets the taint card of “new orders” or “grey decay” you have better chances to Befuddle him, thus making him useless.

Additionally, what really helped me with Corbin was doom/terrify combo. That’s why I chose Rylan as agent, due to subdue.

The problem was when they bought the “Rune Plate” for Jaes and “Iron Boots” for Lindel, and Corbin found the “Corpsebug Brooch”. Then, they were really unstoppable. Corbin with 17 hp, Jaes with 16, and Lindel and Rindel with 12 hp, with the possibility of two of the heroes been immune to hazards. Anyway, what I can tell you is that I think Basic I is better if you plan for a better TPK or a more aggresive encounter (I rolled too many Xs when I didn't need them hahaha).

  14. Atom, the card "Merchants' Guild" from Rylan's Plot Deck doesn't appear in your site. I think it is beacuse it triggers in the shop step. I had to manage the gold of the heroes and search items in order to have the actual gold of the party. Also, I had to manage the thread supply by my own due to the cost of the card, that also doesn't appear in the site.

This because if the Overlord uses the card and discard a token, and then selects and shop item, it costs 50g more, but if the heroes decide to buy it, it doesn't reflect in the site.

I hope I'm not causing troubles, anyway, still thanks for all the work you are doing :D

[Edit]: Ah, I forgot. The MoB campaign Finale also has three encounters. Heroes won Shattered Schemes, so the encounter 2b should be played and in the site appears 2a. Hope I'm not mistaken.

  15. Though I have to admit, a dwarf-party sounds funny.... with a bit of roleplaying added it would be a pretty cool gameing session :P

  16. Hello there,

First I would recommend you to post this type of questions in the normal forum, beacuse this forum is for the Quest Vault. Mostly beacuse there isn't much people that see this forum and you could posibly being ignored :/

can goblin with the girl be cooperated with another goblin to move through the elevation or water space in Labyrinth of Ruin 'S prelude ?

As far as I'm concern, water space says that it cost two movement points to cross through them, and the goblins are moving into one space; thus a figure that moves 1 space can move through water spaces without any penalization, because, they aren't using movement point, they are just moving 1 space that contains a water space.

Now, elevations are different, because elevation says "a figure cannot move acroos an elevation line" (page 5 of LoR book) therefore, any game effect that allows a figure to move through an elevation is not apply (with the exception of flying).

and can the cooperrate action be done two times for one monster in one round in Labyrinth of Ruin 'S prelude?

Yes, there isn't any restrition in that quest of using both of the goblin actions to help the goblin carrying the captive woman.

  17. Lieutenant packs bring different strategies, not only the deck and the mini. I have divide them into three categories whenever I want to buy one of them:

    1) The miniature

If you want to use the miniature because of its looking, then choosing and using the plot deck is useless. For example, I bought Queen Ariad beacuse it is a BIG SPIDER! muahahaha

    2) The Plot Deck

Sometimes the mini isn’t everything, there are some Plot Decks that are worth buying. For example, Raythen’s plot deck is useful to counter in some way a hero class (the Treasure Hunter). In other cases, Valyndra’s plot deck rewards the use of large monsters, while Verminous rewards the use of small monsters. Zachareth’s deck plays with the rules by hitting the heroes when they buy their stuff. Therefore, you can see that it is not necessarily to buy them for the mini, the link in the post #2 will give you an analysis of them. In addition, I give you a link where you can read all the agents card effects (where it says Overlord Plot Decks).

    3) The Agent

Well, the bosses. You want to play with them because of their utility. Well you need to think first of their cost (in order to play them you substitute your monsters) and their weakness (once they are killed, you need to earn them again or they can't be use in some campaign, as stated above). So, there are Agents that focus on combat: Queen Ariad (highest defense in the game), Gargan Mirklace (highest attack) or Skarn (resilent through healing process); others help other units: Ardus Ix'Erebus (a high command unit), Splig (a decoy command unit) or Rylan Olliven (a utility unit).

  18. Hello,

I'm to report an issue about Mist of Bilehall been incompletely uploaded.

Last night I tried to create a quest for my friends using Mist of Bilehall expansion, however, I discovered that there are few things missing:

    1)    Lieutenants: although I understand this because we only got Act I versions of them, shouldn’t it be uploaded for fanmades quest creation?

    2)    The “Old Wall” label in the miscellaneous is also missing. I tried to use them but I couldn’t find them.

    3)    Also crumbling terrain is missing.

I don’t know if it’s a technical issues but I wonder if this could be fix so I can keep going with the creation of the quest.

    Thank you.
