  3. I will concede they're probably less physically draining. My matches were almost always much shorter than the usual, very much thanks to fewer squads on the table. While you gain back physical stamina, I would contend squadronless play is far more emotionally draining. That's because you're living on a knife edge at every moment in games against squadron heavy fleets. When it comes down to it, squadronless fleets are just far less forgiving (pre-Onager going brrrrrrrr). Keep in mind, I didn't exactly do poorly at Worlds at 5th overall. I flew against 5 max squadron fleets in my 7 games, going 4-7 (round one), 9-2 (round three), 10-1 (round five), 10-1 (round six), and 6-5 (round seven) in those matches. My worst game was actually 3-8 against @JJs Juggernaut, who was also running squadless Raddus (keep in mind, he also won GENCON that year with that fleet). I credit that to an unhealthy level of preparation. I rehearsed formations and opening moves against the typical squadron heavy archetypes. Think about that. I took the time to figure out pre-planned moves. That's just wrong. I think Matt had a similar level of ridiculous preparation with his fleet. I think we made those fleets work out of sheer spite of wanting to make them work in a squadron heavy world. I don't recommend that level of dedication to making a suboptimal archetype work. It's not healthy. I would also say is NOVA is also just...weird. The local meta skews away from squadrons just out of personal taste. Most fleets start with an ISD or two and go from there. Plus, you have weirdos like @duck_bird, @Formynder4, and I who just come up with bizarre fleets that somehow work. Ask @duck_bird about that time she almost made the NOVA cut with Palpatine Arqs and Decimators. Or how she made the top 10 at Worlds with bloody Madine. It's magical nonsense that has absolute no right working. So that's NOVA in a nut shell: a meta full of a concerning number of Star Destroyers and wackos that make off the wall nonsense work out of sheer stubbornness.
  4. I think you're mixing up wishing AMG well with enthusiasm for this move. Those are two very different things. And perhaps I'm not being clear. I hope AMG does well with the game, and I have no personal animosity toward them. They are at the whims of Asmodee as much as FFG. I hope they do well with our game simply because I want our game to continue on and even expand. As for enthusiasm for this move? Absolutely positively not. I hate this move. It has caused friends to lose jobs, disrupts the game at a critical juncture of its viability, and further dismantles a great studio Asmodee seems intent on wrecking.
  5. Most of those sins you list are Asmodee's, not AMG's. I'm sorry you don't care for Crisis Protocol, but not every game a company makes is for everyone. I don't care for X-Wing, but I still love FFG for Armada. I am perfectly capable of hoping AMG does well and being pissed off at Asmodee for treating FFG like garbage. Why? Because I want this game to continue. Period. Am I going to give AMG the benefit of the doubt? Absolutely not. They really need to earn this community's trust, which will be hard given the nature of this change. Do I hope they do well? Absolutely. The alternative is this game dying. By wishing AMG ill, as you seem to want to do, I would be actively rooting for this game to die.

  8. Ryan has not historical included even spoilers, preferring to release everything when the full wave is available. He's usually extremely quick once the wave is actually released, so I wouldn't be surprised if he was hard at work building the back end out of sight.
  9. The biggest problem for the Starhawk is simply getting people to fight it, especially if it's a tough Agate Starhawk. At only speed 2, it can't really use positioning or an aggressive tempo to force a fight. It needs things to come at it and to shoot it so that it can maximize that Salvo firepower. And for the investment, you NEED your opponent taking that Salvo damage, otherwise the Starhawk is simply not capable of putting out enough firepower to be cost effective. If you have other combat ships that give up significant points, it allows your opponent to ignore the Starhawk. I've done it more times than I can count at this point. I had one game where I was literally taking obstructed shots through the Starhawk to hit the other small ships in my opponent's list. I won that game by a nice comfortable 8-3 margin. You need lists that force your opponent to either shoot the Starhawk, or don't take a shot at all. That's why the overall most competitive Starhawk archetype is known as "Hawk134." That means a Starhawk, maximum squadrons, and no meaty ships outside of the Starhawk that can bleed points.
