Lord Tareq got a reaction from Fallenwolf15 in Here's an idea: new damage cards
BFG had (has) some good rules about what happens when ships get destroyed. They varied from becoming a drifting hulk (models remains on the table, moves a little bit in a straight line every turn and can be used for cover etc.) to exploding partially to a full blown nuclear explosion.

I'd like to see the introduction of special damage cards, when a ship is destroyed you draw one of those cards and see what the effect is. Would be simpler than making them part of the normal damage card deck I think. They could vary from "Crew to the escape pods" which reduces the VP's the opponent gets from the ship, to "reactor overload" which damages nearby ships and squadrons, to "ramming speed" which allows one more move with the ship before removing it from play. The options are nearly endless.

I hope they don’t include stuff from the rebels show. The cartoony ‘kids’ artstyle in that series is imho quite annoying and won’t fit the realistic nature of the Legion models. They’d have to translate their look into one that fits Legion. Plus I don’t like the series overall with all the Jedi popping up constantly.

Lord Tareq got a reaction from Rentner65 in Why there won't be much power creep
One of the interesting things with Legion is that it will be incredibly easy for FFG to address major imbalances thanks to the way Commanders work, although that does mean in time only a couple of commanders remain viable.
They could also tweak balance by introducing new wargear. If Stormtroopers underperform they could add a new type of improved targetting scopes only useable by Stormtroopers.
All in all I’m not too worried for balance. Armada shows they are quite good at introducing new cards to make underperforming units more viable.

Many shis from the expanded universe that could fill the small class. Examples are the Carrack class cruiser, the Vigil class corvette, the IPV-1 class patrol ship, the Lancer class etc...etc...

Imho the problem is (most of) the aces are too good for their cost. Why take a normal Tie-fighter when an ace costs only 5 points more, increases average survivability significantly, does more damage, and comes with a potent special rule.
Whatever squadron I pick I’m usually thinking ‘for just X points more I can take an ace instead’ which imho both dumbs down the squadron game (as its all about the best ace combo) and makes it bothersome due to all the special rules/effects that come into play.

Perhaps a restriction would be simpler as a house rule, max 1 ace per full 25 points of used squadron points or alternatively 1 ace per X generic squadrons.

These are the only rebel soldiers we ever see soundly beaten by Stormtroopers! 7pts, same 1 white die attack gun as stormtroopers, white defense die, no surge conversions and no special rules whatsoever imho
