Lord Tareq got a reaction from cynanbloodbane in Where is the point increase?!
Problem is people tend to build fleets for the official point limit, meaning you only get to play larger point matches if you plan them ahead. Nice if you play with regular mates, less if you play at larger clubs where who you play against is determined by who is there that evening. It would be nice if the standard matches people expect to play are 500 or even 600 points.

I for one would welcome a larger size. 3 ISD's with full squadron complements should be a thing

It makes sense thematically, so yes.
Rules-wise no though, as it mentions needing to be in range of the friendly ship resolving the squadron command

I created this topic regarding this exact issue. It has some discussion in it, specifically some cons/pitfall about adapting Legion's system:

But I agree completely with the OP, imho it would do the game a lot of good if we // FFG came up with a good way of allowing initiative to change during a match. Could perhaps be as simple as a D6 roll on every turn but the first. Both players roll, first player gets a +1 modifier and wins on a tie, lowest total command value adds another +1. Highest roll gets initiative for that turn.

It adds an element of uncertainty, knowing things may not go as you expect becomes part of the strategy. I admit I'd personally prefer a command card system like Legion as this means you do get to "plan ahead" rather than relying on pure chance, though your opponent may foil your strategy.

Anyone else like to see Armada change the way it handles attack order and initiative in the game? I know this is a YUGE part of the game too, but I like the card system from Legion and the random one from Bolt Action too. I'm completely brainstorming here and not opposed to it staying the same either, but thoughts?

It's hard to convey emotion over written posts, but some of the replies here do read a bit hostile imo.

As for these house rules, I can kind of see where they are coming from. However perhaps the name of the actions should be taken a bit less literal. While "Aim" might seems more logical to only apply to ranged attacks, if you were to name it "Prepare"  then it would make sense to affect melee combat as well as ranged. Whilst if "Dodge" was named "Defensive Focus" it again would be sensible to affect melee as well as ranged.

I would say that is probably due to inexperience with the system. In practice, when you have experienced players, wargame matches are almost never decided by luck because you generally try to avoid a situation where a single bad roll can decide the outcome of your game. I.e. when you engage your opponent's strongest melee unit knowing you will only win if you get priority while you know your opponent still has to play its highest priority card, you are willingly letting fate/luck decide your game. When I first started playing Warhammer luck played a major part as I'd gladly allow 1 of my units to face 1 enemy unit of roughly even strength. Later when I played at tournaments etc. I almost never allowed 'even' 1 on 1 combats. I'd hold or even retreat with units, and only commit to fights where I had a 2-1 or even 3-1 advantage. Luck played only a peripheral role.

Anyhow I agree taking Legion's system and flat out copy/paste it won't work for Armada. However at its core I still think the command card aspect is a good system that could work really well with Armada, but requires some serious adaptations to compensate for the potentially very low number of units, unrestricted fleet composition & unforeseen balance aspects.

That's fine, this topic is about discussing essentially house rules or 'what if'. I'm not employed by FFG so its not as if what we discuss here will have any bearing on the official rules.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing an unnamed Imperial Officer or Stormtrooper Commander. They don't all have to be named characters.

Aceton will soften the plastic, also there is no guarantee it will dissolve the glue depending on which glue they used. Its better used to remove horrible paintjobs. Cut the front rods with hobby pliers/knife as close to the attachment as possible. Glue them back on in the right orientation. Ideally you should drill shafts into the connecting parts (with a small hobby handdrill) and insert a thin metal rod.

no, the people in TLJ said it was impossible.

placing trackers aboard a ship and seeing what places it goes to has been done since EP IV, Rebels takes place even before that.
trackers and HYPERSPACE TRACKING are not the same thing.

He could be a 'commander' that can't be your primary commander and won't get to issue commands/won't allow nearby troops to use his courage value. Essentially an independent character that takes one of your commander slots.

It is rather annoying that Legion has more (announced) releases in its first 2 weeks than Armada has had in its first 2 years.

I’d love to see vader as an officer, allowing you to discard him to discard your admiral and replace him with another (perhaps of the same cost or lower for balance). Thematic and tactically amazing at the same time.
