Built some Spires using the youtube video linked in the first post. I covered the cork board in Spackle first before sanding and painting.

I redid the colors and I'm way happier with them. Instead of using spray paint I painted everything with Craft Smart French Wine (like I originally did). Then I did a heavy drybrush with Liquitex Rex Oxide (basically a burnt orange color) and then a light drybrush using Liquitex Naples Yellow Hue (A tan/yellow color). After all the trial and error I'm happy to continue with these colors.

I also hot glued on some rocks onto the Sintra basing. Then I used spackle to blend the rocks into the board. Next I mixed sand, water, and glue and smeared it all over the base. I colored it using the above method.

The above is from Instagram, it seems to be the heavies from a B1 squad.   While easy to remove, the sprues seem to have a lot of empty space.  Hopefully the regular troops have more efficient layout than the heavies.
I’m a little concerned about the customizing options.   It doesn't seem to have much choice for the legs.   We will see if we can mix and match the bodies, arms, and legs.

I made some progress. This is my "test piece" where I make my first piece and see if I like the colors and overall look. I'll have to wait 3 days for the undercoat paint to cure before adding spray paint so that the foam doesn't soften. I'm planning on spray painting it a brown/orange and then some light tan for highlights. I brushed on some premium Craft Smart "French Wine." I find the premium paint is worth the extra 20 cents per bottle. By the way, get this foam cutter from Amazon. It has both a wire cutter and a tool that easily makes the grooves in the spires. I just bought it and it's totally worth it. I sculpted some instant paper mache I found at Michaels and used a wooden dowel for the small pillar. I filled the gaps with some spackle from Home Depot. I then mixed some sand with watered down Elmer's glue and spread it around the model. Everything was glued together using rubber cement.
By the way, I finally found some "EPVC" commonly known as Sintra. It really is perfect and I got the 3mm thickness.

In a few days once the undercoat cures I'll try out these colors. (Patience is hard!)

No problem.  I love the Gunship, and would love to see models of it on the table, but the Hasbro one looks silly compared to figures.

It wasn't at either Geonosis battle, but the Hasbro Clone Turbo tank does look good on the table, and is a great LOS blocker if you're looking for a Hasbro toy to use.

From what I can tell, the Hasbro dropship is way too large.
The Droid fighters are really close. Dunno about the tank (but the model kit tank is perfect).

Since they're all over the place on the other thread, here they are in one place:
RELEASE DATE: "Late third quarter." RELEASE INFO: There will not be a Heavy unit for each faction released within the same window of time as we got the AT-ST and T-47, but they said heavies for each faction will be on the way. Surge tokens are not actions. They are only given out by other abilities (command cards, upgrades, etc.). You may use Surge tokens on attack, defense, and while using Guardian. Scale is not an action. Alex said it is always on, and thus applies whenever Grievous moves. Grievous's pistol armament: Melee - Range 2: 2 Black 2 White. Critical 1, Pierce 1, Versatile. (12 points). Versatile means the weapon can be added to a melee dice pool, or can be used to shoot at a target at range, while you are engaged with another unit in melee. (Arsenal 2, Greivous could melee 1 unit and shoot at another with the pistol; or add the pistol to his melee dice pool) Ion affects droids. They will lose 1 action per Ion token. Suppression does not affect droids same as it does non-droid units. They will not lose actions and do not gain cover. Droids can become panicked due to Suppression tokens, however. Aggressive Tactics gives out Surge tokens when a unit is issued an order. 10 points/maximum of 4 surges given out. Hope (Force; Light Side Only) (3 points) You gain Inspire 1. Disengage means you may exit a melee/engagement with only a normal move (standard move, any move, was unclear, but I think it just means you can freely move out as if the opposing unit was not there). Fire Support can be used even if a unit would panic during its activation. A sneaky way to get around panicking. When using fire support, everything (cover, LOS to minis, surge) is determined by the parent unit, the one performing the actual attack. If the parent unit has surge to hit/crit, then the entire pool has surge to hit/crit. Wheeled is a free action at the start of activation only.  Phase I Clone Trooper Heavy Upgrade, DC-15: Range 1-4. 2 Red, Critical 1. (30 points). Phase I Clone Trooper Heavy Upgrade, Z-6: Range 1-3. 6 White. (25 points). B-1 Battle Droids Heavy Upgrade, E-SC: Range 1-3. 3 Black. (18 points). B-1 Battle Droids Heavy Upgrade, E60-R (Rocket Launcher): Range 2-4: 1 Red, 2 Black, Impact 2. (Exhausts; 20 points).

Personally we always houserule this stuff to common sense. No, we don’t shoot lightsabers. No, that lightsaber held aloft doesn’t make you tall enough to walk over that barricade. Etc.
The rules say something or other about “reasonable modifications” being allowed.

It is with great pleasure that I can finally release my recent pet project out into the wild: a playtested, standardized 500-pt, 75-minute format for Legion. I see people asking all the time what they should do below 800 points, and with this guiding document I think we've got something really solid both to bring some novelty to veteran players and help draw in newer players.
Please let me know your thoughts - I try to keep all my posts in one thread so it's not too spammy, but I really like this format and would love to hear from forum-goers about what they think!

JBar reacted to Welshie13 in Clone Wars stuff vs Galactic Civil war Stuuf
Not necessarily. It's all a matter of money. The Republic pumped a lot of money into the Clone Wars and so had fairly top range stuff. Afterwards when the Empire rose they co-opted what they could but needed to expand to gather new resources and tax the Empire to finance the replacements. Whilst they slowly got better as research money was spent (Tarkin Initiative etc), a lot of this was pumped into the Death Star and Star Destroyers which was their vision of the future. As a result, troops and their weapons (Stormtrooper guns and the accuracy/quality debate) and Tie fighters (lack of shields etc) were more disposable.
In real life dips in miltary power/quality can happen too, for a long after the Roman Empire nothing warefare wise was technically better and if anything regressed.

JBar reacted to That Blasted Samophlange in Faction identity
The Empire and, to a lesser extent, Rebel factions have the distinction and disadvantage of coming first.   They don't have a faction identity, but instead are the bar standard of which each other factions will be compared.
This means the first two factions don't have much identity, and are there to establish how the game plays.
Now, there currently are a few things the Empire does well, they have a number of commanders that hand out aim tokens, so I guess the empire faction identity is about precision.   The rebels conversely have a more duplicitous and dodgy bent. Based on tricks and cowering.

JBar reacted to azeronbloodmoone in Some stuff from Fifth Troopers Interview with Alex Davy from last chance qualifier and High Command
    1. Alex Davy is awesome lol thank you for clone wars.
    2. B1 will be able to share the order tokens from unit to unit (design to work together like that) so if 1 gets a order token they all get tokens
    3. The droid trooper and Clone Trooper are key words for the units.
    4.  The clone trooper will be able to spend green tokens from other friendly clone units at range 1 (yes spend theirs not get a free one (this is aim dodge standby also the new one)).
    5. Fire support will be in wave 5 (Rebel Hoth Veterans)
    6. Droidka have 2 posses wheeled mode and walker form (standing up) and the expansion will have 2 of each.
    7. Droidka are support.
    8. Droidka will give increase speed, cover, but can't shoot.
    9. Droidka will have regenerating Shield.
    10. While he didn't say it directly, he did already hint at phase 2 clone troopers.
    11. the land speeder at the cheepest is about 70 points.
    12. when adding in the side car it will slow you down but additional weapon and arsenal 2, its more durable then speeder bikes (like health wise).

    from high command:
    1. Going to more command token face up control for another tactic.
    2. with Jyn and her Rebellious command card if she is force to put her command token back from pinned down she looses her abilities.

the reason the minis were the way they were at first was influence by their other games like ruin wars.
the reason to switch to the hard plastic clip trays are a result for our demand for different poses.
after wave 7 onward will be in hard plastic clip out trays, while the previous they are talking about redoing them to include the new trays and poses/head swap.
