"Confirmation: Yes Ma'am" is the reply N97 gives to Lt. Atala. Pulling up the command structure on the main ship computer he enters a code into the system to cause the main power supply to overheat and explode, then he pulls the main components of the comms array.
Over everyone's comm's the metallic and detached voice of the droid comes through. "Alert: 30 seconds until self destruct." Aiding where he can he helps get the crew out of the doomed speeder and far enough away. Following the others he keeps his posterior sensors trained on the ship, waiting for the inevitable explosion.

For some reason I am not getting the notifications as well. I will just check regularly
I will assume the good doctor will get the medpac (unless he has his own, then N97 will pick it up). As for the other gear, N97 will prioritize to the weapons, and will pick up whatever is left over (he has 3g for ranged heavy, 2g1y for ranged light). He will not grab first, but currently has not weapons (his goo gun is short range)

Crashing is dangerous. Still, it beats exploding in deep space.
With a quick rotation of his head N97 sees that everyone has braced for impact. Desperately he works the computers trying to boost energy to the engines he finally has to give up and just locks his hands to the panel with a vice-like grip just before impact.
Even though inorganic, his sensors have the same vulnerability to fast rotation distortion and inertial damage that organics may endure. After the ship settles it takes him a few seconds to gain his bearings and then releases the now-dented computer panel.
"Grab whatever kit you can, we have to get out of here before our friends arrive to finish the job."
With a short comms reply to Lt. Atala he confirms receiving the message. Before moving to the back of the speeder to sort out the survival gear, he removes the data core of the speeder as standard procedure to limit it being sliced for location and operational data.
-
With his posterior upper back display N97 confirms receiving the instructions from the doctor. "Confirmation: Message was direct line encoded message from HQ, checked for security. Scanners working perfectly, however with storm we were to low to avoid the initial ambush. Thank you for your concern."

I think jamming coms may be important. They have likey been too busy with us to make a full report, perhaps we can keep away backup troops? Of course How crazy would it be to just fly into the cave? They wouldn't shoot a missile into the cave (We would have cover and they they would have to move to get a line of sight), by then we can use our turbo lasers to lay waste to anything threatening in the cave and set up a trap for when they return to the cave.
-
As soon as the multiple enemy contacts show up on the scanners N97 goes to open ship comm's. Then the he sees the missile incoming. With no seemingly emotional reaction or excitement in his voice N97 sets off the warning klaxon. Then the crew hears him over the comms. "Alert: Brace for incoming missile attack. Multiple hostiles on the ground. Battle stations."

N97 is able to see the group on the ground with the scanners and is able to react slightly quicker because of it. (will use 1 adv. from computers check)
Initiative Valley of Darkness: 1eP+1eB 3 successes, 1 advantage

WIth 4 threat we should be able perhaps have a weapons malfunction (acting like a dropped weapon, takes an action to correct), or get two free maneuvers (1 per 2 threat). Anyone else have recommendations? We could use maneuver to get cover behind some of the rocks/mountains or in the storm.
Who is good at gunnery? N97 has 3 green for gunnery.
Options for actions:
Co-pilot (if piloting checks are going to be needed, 2 diff piloting check), Plot Course (lower set back to piloting checks, 2 diff astrogation or 3 diff perception), Boost shields (3 diff Mechanics), Slice Enemy's equipment/comms (3 diff computers), Spoof missiles (if they miss and have guided, 2 diff computers), Distract opponent (opposed discipline), Identify weakness (skulduggery, but diff. is determined by GM), Repair ship (once during encounter, mechanics) or Damage control (lower ship strain, mechanics)
Can always Aim, Assist another or Angle Deflector Shields
Any other options I missed?

Can the advantage will be that there is a wrecked old (<50 years or so) ship in the valley near where we land? N97 is looking for scrap to add to his crafting supplies! And then one boost to the next player.

I added an assist from Oro and a boost from the previous advantage

N97 comm's Oro, "Urgent: Weather interference. Need assistance on scanners." When he arrives the droid puts him to work on stabilizing the readings as the droid digs out the results. With his assistance, and a quick break in the heaviest part of the weather, the readings come into clarity.
N97 comm's Oro, who is still next to him. "Update: Readings secured. Assistance appreciated." He then sends the data to Lt. Liaka Atala's console, overlaying the valley floor over her mapping display in a 3-D hologram.

The Droid N97 has been at the computer scanner for three days. The only break was for when he took over piloting duties as the organic crew needed rest and nutrition. When they finally get a message from command he narrows in the scanners looking for a formation or area that would be compatible with a new base of operations.
Replying to Liaka via comlink, "Confirmation: Searching now."

Sorry, I am not able to post early in the weekend
Computers scanning check: 2eA+2eP+3eD+1eS 1 success
Close but successful
Can someone roll a boost die as a co-pilot?

The Droid follows the others on his team out the door. The sky is starting to turn to a richer hue in the afternoon sun. Knowing the rebels have little extra supplies he turns to the village to locate any scrap or excess materials he might use.
After locating the person in town that is considered the "fix-it guy" he finds their location and knocks on the door. Not getting a response he heads around back and finds a female Sluissi doing welding. He patiently waits until she finishes her current task and then introduces himself.
Having a fascination with ancient technology she was receptive to interacting with N97. And while she did not have any usable scrap she should share, she did have an urgent need for help on a project.
Soon the hours passed and together they made good progress on her food preservation system for the town. Even though he didn't get any materials, in fact ended up donating some in the process of helping her, he did end up imparting a good impression of the rebellion.

Streetwise to find scrap for creation: 2eA+2eD 1 failure, 1 advantage

Advantage to get some good-will with the village

If the briefing is in the afternoon, are we are heading out tonight or in the morning? If it is in the morning I would like to go through the inventory list (that N97 made last night) and see if they have 50cr worth of scrap I could use to create the welding rod (will take 10 hours, but I might be able to get it down sooner with successes overnight, and if he doesn't finish it he can finish it later).
Otherwise I am ready.

The generic remotes are perfect. (Stats: Generic Remote. Soak 2 Wound 5 Skills: Perception. Sil.0. Carry out simple programs/commands. 400cr R2 SM:53) They have good perception stats as is, but N97 would like to upgrade them with better sensors. What mechanics difficulty and time frame would it take to upgrade a set of 4? What additional cost for materials?
I won't try to buy a droid from the town, mainly because N97 doesn't have the funds. And his negotiate is 1 green, so would not likely get one from the rebel supply either.
-
Are there any other functional droids in the cell's equipment. I was particularly thinking of a DZ-70 tracker droid (Far Horizons p49) or a Sorosuub wanderer scout surveyor droid (Enter the Unknown p 57) or even a few generic remote droids (from special modifications p. 53)?
If not are there any non-functional droid parts in the supplies N97 could use to put together a basic security/monitoring droid. A mono-task minion droid or two from Special Modifications table 3-7 (droid crafting).
As for supplies, are we going to have any combat troops (NPCs) that go with us? If not does the ship have a basic supply of a few rifles, pistols and grenades?
N97 could use a couple of repair patches, perhaps a database upgrade (like the Species Database from dangerous allies p179), Should he also carry a few stim-packs for use on the others if needed?
-
N97 Stands completely still during the briefing, but this was more to the fact that he is a droid and doesn't require the constant shifting and moving of flesh and sinew that the organics required.
After he dutifully recorded the orders he did some calculations on distance and time parameters and then created a list of equipment and supply needs for the trip. When completed he encrypted the orders and then stored all but the basic information in a secure offline storage area with his other sensitive rebellion data per his usual protocol. Retaining the list in memory he awaits his team's assignment.
His thoughts turn to the idea of getting in an airspeeder. Although never able to get air-sick, he certainly had no fondness for the travel method. All the rapid shifting of gravity, air pressure, humidity and temperature seemed to always play havoc with some of his sensors.

Nice rolls, if anyone needs something specific crafted let me know. I put the summary of crafting rules in my dropbox here.
Since he is a droid he doesn't need to sleep, so he can likely do the crafting overnight. One of his first projects will be a Specialist Tool (from Table 3-12 SM:84) to make a welding tool to help with repair checks. Otherwise just clear what you want to have him make with CC (and if the supplies are available, some have rarity) and then when he has time will make it. Other good items are grenades, specialized gear, attachments, armor (if he has time), bola's (for ensnaring enemies) as they are often are cheaper than buying them.
CC: I am basically offering small things for N97 to do (such as the crafting, helping out the villagers, etc) as filler while the larger story is getting ready to be advanced. Don't let it slow down what you want to do, and just let me know if there are too many things.
-
"Confirmation: Yes, Sir. When complete that I wish to take a small team and evaluate the village for a project we may complete for them. To increase our good-will."
While 'speaking' to the Chief he uses his side sensors to count and evaluate the team in engineering, trying to find an ideal group of about 2-4 that can do a good-will project for the village.
-
Moving over to stand by Chief Vwikk, the droid waits for his attention. Then the Chief is ready N97 puts up his results, "Statement: Chief, Sir. The device is an ancient communications monitoring device, a Watchbox-650. It is now disassembled and non-functional, but it may have overheard some of our communications prior to its deactivation.Full report is on your data pad. I will trace its origin and report back. Estimated time is 42 minutes." He points to the communications with the details he just sent to the Chief's data pad.
Returning to the table he detaches his data pad from his arm and places it so that he can enter data quickly. Tapping away he spends the next 30 or so minutes researching the origins of this box and preparing his report for the Chief. Sending the report to the Chief he turns and waits for his response.
Investigate the Watchbox: 2eA+2eP+4eD 1 success, 1 threat

-
"Confirmation: Affirmative. Time estimate is 23 minutes for disassembly, 12 minutes of study."
N97 then unfolds his built in mechanics tools and hovers over the device for the few minutes it takes to take it apart. During the process he seems to pause as he watches a bit of black smoke rise from the device. Returning to work he finishes up near the 35 minute mark.

N97 signs off with Lt. Braxus and turns to leave the briefing room. On his way out he can't help but straighten up a little bit.
As he passes villagers and other rebellion members he gives a mechanized wave or salute as needed. Making his way into the mid-morning light he finds Chief Vwikk.
He arrives and finds the engineering team busy working while Chief Vwikk doles out duties and assignments. On the makeshift table is the disassembled communication device. The droid having spent the night creating the engineering space and then organizing cataloging the equipment finds the Chief in a more pleasant than usual mood.
"Statement: Good Morning Chief, Sir. Specialist N97 reporting for duty. I hope you found the list of supplies and engineering location adequate?"

N97 is very helpful with these things, and as long as the GM says the characters have the time, he can do anyone's mods. Just use the 1green 3 yellow 2 boost dice to roll your mod and make a post about it. In fact he generally will do anyone's bidding if it is reasonable and legal. He is just helpful that way.
-
Kymrel, go ahead and roll: +1 Boost from you, 4 intellect and 3 ranks, +1 boost for journeyman tools.
So 1 green, 3 yellow and 2 boost. First one starts at 3 difficulty (although you likely already knew that)
Gearhead lowers the cost of mods in half, so I will add the extra 50 credits in supplies to the pile of "misc. gear" he has for crafting. He will use this for creation of other items. It will sort of be a "Hey, I didn't use all the materials I thought I would, I will save the extra for the next project" if that sound okay with everyone. This way he will get to crafting goals sooner as well.
I will spend 15 xp on "Bad Motivator" talent, and 10xp on 2nd rank of computers skill. I have updated the swsheets character page. 5xp held over

In response to Oro, N97 offers an option: "Observation: The path does appear to be the expected way to use, so perhaps we should follow it, but then use grenades to set up a few traps and an ambush?" He then puts forth the recommendation of 1-2 grenades on a delayed proximity timer. When passed they will activate a 2 minute timer, then the next time they are passed they will explode. Then further down the path he could set up a couple of immediate and slightly delayed grenades. We could ambush them there, then as they retreat in a hurry they will come accross the initial set of grenades. This is especially effective if the initial set of grenades are right after a defensible area, they will rush back to the defensible area assuming it is safe.
He concludes with, "It is a technique that Lt. Atala and I have used before."
