It's been great everyone. Even though I feel I got started late, about a year or so before the ItmeJP stuff that made Dark Heresy super popular, the materials and games have always had a lot of heart and hard work put into them. Thanks to everyone involved.
I know i've still got a few DH2 games in me though.

Fixed. If anyone knows a better place than filedropper let me know. I haven't been updating a lot because effectively I've managed to crash roll20 with all my assets. Seriously, I've managed to lag out roll20 with my pretty maps. At this point the lag is putting me off running, so I don't make stuff much anymore. A lot of these tokens are big files. Roll20 doesn't like big files. Use with caution.

I've probably got a few more Dark Heresy games in me. I imagine it will eventually become much harder to pull random players though from LFG sites. Not looking forward to that. It's sad that the sort of era of Dark Heresy online play started with Roleplay RPG and kind of fizzled. I'm just happy to have played though the good part.
-
I've got to make a serious decision soon about dividing up stuff into top down view or standard token. I know a lot of top down exists, but I don't really use it myself.
-
I mainly recruit on 40krpg on reddit.

Speaking as a guy that has made a lot of Dark Heresy maps these are useless other than for getting ideas about different types of structures. You need high resolution to run DH due to the fiddly combat.
-
Things should be working again. I try to update the main ones, sometimes i have internet issues with filedropper.
I'm totally fine with the collector files being on rollforheresy.

Obviously, the end of the collaboration is a problem. Not seeing new books means that we are going to see the community starved for new blood and effectively stuck in a holding pattern until a new solution appears for those of us that want to game in 40k universe. This could obviously come from several directions.
1. Games Workshop could release its own RPG, as they have before. Given their proclivities I wouldn't rate the odds of it being good as high or the odds of it happening as high.
2. FFG could get the license back at some point and revive the system. This could even be the result of GW going defunct. This would be the ideal. For the most part they were good stewards.
3. The community could make its own thing. This has been tried a few times with some very good looking results, but adoption overall has been difficult and the days of Dark Reign are over. Getting players to dive into a non-official book is always a big ask.
What is the path forward for the holding pattern ?
1. Secure the resources as soon as possible. Books and PDF's aren't being released anymore. There will probably be a big sale very soon. Stock up on everything. The ideal situation is that 40krpg's become very accessible.
2. Keep running games, if you like the systems. Keep bringing in new blood. Keep the vets happy. Keep producing assets. Try to keep things organized.
3. Migrate to https://www.reddit.com/r/40krpg/ and other forums before we get archived. There is no good post-Dark Reign successor with more people than 40krpg it's not as good as the forums by far, but it's populated. The community survives by keeping in touch.

I like this stuff I will add it to the collectors files.
If you guys want to do stuff faster, then please feel free to PM me and can exchange skype info.
EDIT : Collectors have been updated. One of these days I'll update the imgur.

Try using meetup man. That's how I found my group. Dark Heresy is a hard to find good people for.
-
Model shots need to be taken strait down if possible and be higher res. Some stuff has been added to the pack though.
-
Also, this isn't bad with the right packs
Today (6/24/16) I am trying this Editor...
I've fired it up - seems to work and and the tiles are good resolution!
Stay GAMING

Fixed. I think there is a bandwidth limit. Some of the links hit it faster.

I've 'unpacked' 40k vassal before. It's pretty easy. You can get all sprites individually.
-
That material looks to be similar to the vassal stuff. I'll do a proper review and see if there is anything new that I can strip.

Yep I get that, but why can't I access that ROF, in something other Overwatch?
This is obviously also my response when the realistic ROF argument comes up. Why am I dumping ammo slower than I was when I was practicing suppression fire, which is, by default, holding the trigger and spraying a position to such an extent that it increases your odds of a jam ?
-
But putting your cone out there while wielding a pump-action shotgun and miraculously being able to fire everything in the span of a couple seconds when your weapon's rate of fire couldn't even support that? No thanks.
Don't forget the +30 surprise bonus.
I did talk to Tim about the use of grids and he said that they aren't always used in prototyping/playtesting Dark Heresy. I'll let that sink for a while.

The logic to disallow is a bit convoluted so I'll concede the point. MijRaj is right though, I don't think overwatch is overpowered.
It's not overpowered when both sides are using it. It's just a big change to the game. We all have a checklist when GM-ing that we do when setting up an encounter. I try to give my groups approximately three different ways to solve a problem. The use of RAW overwatch just means that I would have to create 'triggers' in my maps to make sure that large groups couldn't often be overwatch-ed to death. I'd have to do better work to restrict sight-lines and keyholes. I don't always plan out covered pathways, like in Gears of War or XCOM, in the maps I make. It would require big changes.
There are already a lot of layers in setting up Dark Heresy encounters. Modifier stacks. Destructible terrain. Continuing effects. Lots of other stuff. It's one of the roughest combat systems I've dealt with. I look at what a lot of other GM's do and I don't think they are designing around overwatch either.
-
I'll consider moving. There is a time limit on the filedropper i've been using.
-
Unfortunately, I have run into too many Gm's where there encounter setup involves the badguys charging down a hallway or across open areas. In these instances, Overwatch is and should be brutal! But there are other legitimate options to counter it.
This is indeed a problem, and I wasn't trying to start a fight either. It's more that there are certain limitations brought about by the nature of the game and logical inconsistencies caused by overwatch. If I had a chance I'd have large XCOM scale maps for everything and macros for everything. Often combat ends up quite claustrophobic.
And you think it isn't overpowered; again, that's your opinion. I certainly disagree with it, as Overwatch lets someone with a missile launcher or grenade launcher or bolt action rifle just keep shooting and shooting until they're out. If you want to hose down a location, that's what Suppressing Fire should be for. Your 'counters' can be countered in return or ignored in a number of cases.
I believe the rocket launcher requires a reload between shots. My terrible discovery recently though was that the flamer could be used in overwatch mode.
-
It's not unclear, you just don't like it! The way overwatch works is both realistic and cinematic.
RAW Overwatch is a central mechanic. Akin to aim, standard attack, or move when used properly.
Statistics taken from players suggest that there is confusion.
This thread suggests that there is confusion.
I do know what developer intent is now. That's the only thing that has really changed.

Following the rules of the game would turn someone into "That Guy." This isn't even a matter of (mis)using some often unused talent or some remarkably rare or obscure item. This is a matter of using one of the -few- actions listed in the combat rules section in the exact way that the developers/FAQ/errata have stated it is to be used. Following those rules to their natural and logical conclusion makes a player an obnoxious person at a "normal" gaming table.
The average GM/player will look at these rules and not realize the extent of Overwatch's effectiveness. They would merely view it as a delayed attack action. Some basic rule thrown in to account for the concept of initiative order not producing an effective simulation of events. That normal players can look at the rules and not recognize this is a problem. If Overwatch is intended to be an equal counterpart to actions like Standard Attack, Full Auto, or even Suppressing Fire, then something should make that obvious.
This caused a lot of issues in one of my games. Basically, a player showed up knowing how to use overwatch when four of us out of the total of five including myself as GM didn't exactly know how to use it. Anyway, it broke encounters and modeled encounters very quickly. I eventually nerfed overwatch after I saw what it was capable of doing against my hordes of hand to hand only enemies.
One of the problems for me in coping with this is that I had the option of spamming out more hand to hand enemies, which bogs down Dark Heresy or effectively crossing out a rule.
I can't understand how we have such a unclear rule still in books by the second edition. I mean it's been this way since first edition. People didn't understand it then. They don't understand it now. This is a problem.
Delay action exists....

Let me play Debil's Advocate for a second here tho...

Here is my email back from Tim. This is the official answer. I can send you the entire exchange if you want. PM me.
Hi fog1234 I’m not sure how Overwatch would exceed a weapon’s rate of fire. The character is making an attack roll, which depending on the settings used for the overwatch shooting would be resolved normally. In the example in your posting, the sniper is firing single shots, so is not exceeding the rate of fire if the weapon is (1/–/–). The sniper might be making more shots than he’d normally get in a turn, but is also sacrificing doing anything else to do so. Rate of fire isn’t a measure of how many shots you can get a turn, it’s more about how many bullets go flying when you depress the trigger.
Did this help? Let me know if not and we can discuss it further. And as always, thanks for playing! -
I know. The project hasn't been the slam dunk that I hoped it would be with people dumping their assets into a shared bank, but people do use some of this stuff.

I am working on a new pack for the discord. I'm sorry that this hasn't been up-kept as well as it should be, but other than a bit of OW I don't play much anymore.
