I don't see anything ambiguous about that ability.  The commas break the sentence into 3 distinct parts.  Part 1 (when)  "Before you activate this character," this defines when you may use the ability. - comma
Part 2 (ability) "you may play a weapon from your discard pile on her," this defines what the ability is. - comma
Part 3 (additional effect) "decreasing its cost by 1 if it has the word "Thermal" in its title."  See how the last portion defines an extra function of the ability, along with when you can use it, with no further sentence breaks?  Based on the structure of this sentence, the Thermal qualifier only applies to the last section.  If that was part of the requirement to play the weapon in the first place, the Thermal qualifier would've needed to be part of the 2nd portion of the sentence, or the entire sentence structure would've needed to be different.
To be fair, I am not an English teacher, but I am married to one.

I  don't plan on going anywhere, just definitely have some of my enthusiasm sapped, which is okay!  And if other people love it, I'm not one to try and say my opinion has more value, just that the meta seems stale to me, due to activation thirst.
I started to reiterate old points, but I doubt anyone needs to hear it again.  I've definitely posted enough about it.  Whether or not I get the fire back about competitive play, I will always have my Armada, if for no other reason than to show my nephew in seven years or so, and it looks more and more likely I'll have custody over him, soon, so we'll have plenty of time to play.
I've played Armada more than any other miniature game I've played, probably combined.  Amazing game, and I look forward to still seeing all you jabronis at Worlds.

Right, but if the insult had been directed at Gink specially, it wouldn't have been that big of an issue (sorry Gink). But when ANYONE says:
"One, to the git gud crowd: talk to me when you learn how to play"
"if you are not a world champion you are at best in the tier of many of the other good players on these forums and you should not be talking down to them"
"An amusing trend is that often the people saying those lack creativity or don't know how to play in these threads are, in fact, garbage players compared to the people they are lecturing. JJ, Q, Indierockclimber, etc. are a lot more likely to be right than you are."
It's extremely condescending regardless of the context.
Basically I have 0 input in Reinholt's eyes because I literally did not have the money to go to Maryland. I didn't have the time or money to go to Worlds. I didn't have the time to go to Stele. I had a conflict of interest to go to Worlds in May. I was in college through wave 2 so I didn't get a ton of experience to play.
This type of negativity and shutting people down because they don't have trophies really pisses me off. And I'm not the only one who can't make it to tournaments. There is a whole slew of people who can't.
Of all the people on the forums, I have yet to see more than a handful of people say "Don't talk to me unless you're pro." which is exactly how this comes off as.

It's fine n dandy that you want an exclusive pro-group of players you want to discuss Armada with. Just chill the **** out when us non-pro players have a different opinion than you. Not everyone has the funds or time to go to every tournament ever, so just because we can't go to a tournament does not mean we are garbage players.

I just don't get why we all can't get along and accept people clearly have differing opinions that are not going to change no matter how much we discuss this topic.

Yes, I was born before Episode IV, or Star Wars as it was known at the time.  My parents thought I was too young to watch it though, so I didn't see A New Hope until its first rerelease in 1979.  My older brother, on the other hand, saw it 13 times the summer of '77.  But that was when you could ride around on your bike all day doing whatever as long as you were home in time for dinner.
I do remember bringing my Luke Skywalker action figure with the extendable lightsaber to kindergarten, and the Christmas in 1980 where my brother and I got a couple of Snow Trooper action figures, Slave I, the Echo Base Rebel play set with Probot and the AT-AT.  We threw down a bunch of white blankets and recreated the opening scene from Empire Strikes Back with absolutely every Star Wars toy we owned.  My dad thought it was so cool he took a bunch of pictures and had them developed (yep, actual film developing with a real camera).
My fondest memory has to be when we got a new refrigerator and my dad, who was really a kid at heart and never met a roll of duct tape he didn't love, transformed the big refrigerator box into an X-Wing Fighter.  It lived in our kitchen for 2 weeks until my mom couldn't take it anymore.  Oh man, we destroyed the Death Star so many times...
But I digress.  I'm here trying to help Captain Rose with her dreams of commanding an Interdictor, and I would've gotten away with it too if it weren't for you meddling kids!  Now git off my lawn!

FFG has released a nerf to flotillas!

Some Armada players have found that the high percentage of fleets that contain flotillas to be a problem. Data proves that flotillas appear extremely often, and not only are they in a large percentage of fleets but those fleets often contain more than one. This has lead to a public outcry about the seemingly non playtested and game breaking aspects of these ships.

There are many aspects of the flotilla that have lead to many opinions on how to fix them. Some focus on it's ability to act as a cheap activation, or carrier. While others are disgusted by it's ability to safely fly a commander around aka a “lifeboat”. There are some additional, more specific, complaints but most can be organised into these two main groups.

FFG has heard the concerns about flotillas and has taken action. Ladies and gentleman I present a plethora of options straight from the minds of the design team!

First up we have H9 Turbolasers for 8 points you can all but guarantee the destruction of those pesky little carriers. By granting an accuracy by losing a damage rendering that annoying scatter useless, you can assuredly show that cheap activator who is boss!

Next up we'll take a look at a pair faction specific options. The Home One title for the rebels and Captain Jonus for the imperials.
The home one title is a 7 point upgrade for the MC80 Assault and Command Cruisers. It allows another friendly ship within 1-5 to change a die to an accuracy. Best part only this is you don't have to spend or lose anything! Those pesky reds coming up blank? Not anymore, just change one to an accuracy!Fleet wide scatter denial. Delicious!
On the imperial side we have the Tie Bomber Ace from the Corellian Conflict box Captain Jonus. Where if a friendly ship is attacking a ship within distance 1 of Jonus that ship can change one die to an accuracy. Again awesome and this is on a mobile platform even better. Pair that with his grit keyword and he is a great option for any imperial fleet. Especially for those in the business of hunting those little scatter bugs.

Continuing on we have the Intel officer. Nothing can be as annoying as getting a small flotilla lined up in your primary arc, rolling tons of damage with no accuracy. Doubly annoying when you realize you didn't bring a way for guaranteed accuracy. What is an admiral to do? Let me introduce you to the Intel officer. This handy little guy let's you choose a defence token of your target ship and if your opponent uses it the defence token will be discarded. That's right one and done! And this can go on any ship!

These are just some of the options coming out of FFG. Enjoy your games and remember if there are 7 flotillas on the table and you consistently see too many of them it might be worth a shot to counter your local or regional meta and add a dedicated flotilla hunter to your fleet. Change is good you may not be able to fly or build the same way you did in wave 2 but who wants that!?

Those were completely different cards than the ones that came out of packs. Those were from a 2-player introductory game. The limited/unlimited versions of all the cards were consistent in game stats/text and picture.
I highly doubt FFG follows any similar model. They seem to be focused on gameplay rather than collectibility.

They had released common versions of the rares in a box set I believe.  So there was like a weaker version of Vader with white border.  But I think that was in a special box.
    Edit:Decipher Ccg I'm talking about.

I, too, very much enjoy the LotR and SW LCGs.  I play Destiny "casually" also, and I think it's probably the BEST way to play it!    Who cares about efficiency and stupid crazy complex optimization - I just want to roll cool dice and watch my favorite heroes and villans force choke each other and shoot each other with laser beams!

Maybe it doesn't have any bearing, maybe it does. So far Ship length has determined what base it gets. Here is a case where the old established length, (300m) doesn't jive with the base size, (medium). Either the ships length was increased, (most likely) or it could mean something about bases.
Beyond that... this is a forum for a Star Wars game about combat between Starships. Talking about said Starships, even in minutiae isn't outlandish.
What is outlandish is coming into a thread that doesn't interest you, posting a moronic meme that is in Effect saying, "hur dur, this is dumb, you guys are dumb." That is a **** move.
If you don't like a topic, all you have to do is shrug your shoulders, and say, "you guys have fun, I'm going find something that interest me." Don't rain on other people's parades just to make yourself feel better. That's not how a good community works.
