Speaking as someone who mostly lurks but would like to see and use these boards as something other than a place for people to have pissing contests, I respectfully request that both of you take your shouting match and name calling to private messages please.  The rest of us are really tired of hearing it.  We get it, some people think FFG massively screwed up and are continuing to do so.  Some think they are doing their best to fix it and can't stand to let the angry people spout their anger.  We understand.  Really.  You don't have to say the same **** things over and over and over and over and over and over anymore.  Take your argument private.  It's old, it's tired, and it's making this board a place that others don't want to visit.  Frankly, it's nearing time to just start mashing the 'report post' button.  If everyone truly cares about this game, getting banned for being constantly rude and obnoxious is likely not something you would want to have happen.

Your title is click bait and frankly untrue.  I don't see anywhere in your letter anything about 'cancellation' of orders, except where it says you may choose to cancel or reduce your order if you wish.  You'll get your product, you will just have to wait for some of it until the next waves.  It was announced a LONG time ago that the shipment of this product was going to be split into multiple waves, so I don't really see any news here.  What your letter does NOT say is that anyone who preordered will NOT get product, nor that they will have no product left AFTER all preorders are filled, so again, nothing to see here.

This probably belongs in the "off topic section, but I want to see how much steam I can generate here.
For those of us who have seen "band of brothers" or "the pacific", wouldn't it be cool if Lucasfilm did a 10 part miniseries like those two except with the clone wars and from the perspective of a clone unit like the 501st?  It could totally work.  Part 1 being training on kamino, parts 2-3 being pre revenge of the sith.  part 4 being rots and order 66, part 5 being like replacements in band of brothers where the depleted clone unit integrates non-clone storm troopers and where they go from there as to which of the original trilogy/rogue one films gets covered is up to the story boards.  I feel like The series could end around empire with the clones retiring or maybe even at endor where they see everything they built (litteraly) blow up in front of them.
I feel like this would be a great story to tell, lots of hard themes and finally, we could get the gritty, dark clone wars that we all see in our heads.  I love the cartoon network series.  I watched it when it premiered.  However, this "band of brothers" thing has been in the back of my mind and I think now would be a great time for it.  lemme know what you think guys.

Xindell reacted to MattShadowlord in One Simple Anti-Snowball Rule for the Corellian Campaign
We just finished a Corellian Campaign here in Perth, Australia. It was great fun, but we hit the same problem many people have reported, which is that the rules reward success to the degree that the winning team can quickly leap ahead of their opponents, making future wins easier,  and creating a snowball effect.
Rewarding success makes a sense, but all players were of the opinion that individual games are more fun when more evenly matched.
The simple anti-snowball rules below are designed to narrow the gap somewhat while still leaving the advantage with the player who has earned more points.
The points difference between the players fleets is awarded to the disadvantaged player as temporary recruitment points. They may spend these points with the following restrictions:
If they can afford a capital ship(s) with these points, they must buy the ship(s) before any squadrons*. Flotillas do not count for this rule** No title or upgrades may be purchased for this Capital Ship*** Any remaining points can be spent on non-unique Squadrons The Capital Ships and Squadrons do not count as friendly to the fleet**** All ships and squadrons bought with Temporary recruitment points count towards the game score, but are then permanently removed after the tally has been made.
*the reason players must buy capital ships if they can is to reduce the risk of an unusually amount of fleet of squadrons actually benefiting the disadvantaged player. In practice this means a Rebel will never be able to spend more than 38 temporary points of Squadrons (if they had 39 remaining they would need to buy a Corvette-B) and an Imperial will never be able to spend more than 43 temporary points on Squadrons (if they had 44, they would be required to buy a Raider-I).
**buy one if you wish, but these rules are not intended to actively encourage more flotillas.
***the rule is intended to narrow the gap, not allow TRC Corvettes or OE Flak Raiders. It should always be better to buy ships using real resource points.
****this means that the freebooters do not benefit from Admiral's abilities or similar rules that affect friendly ships, to ensure that properly purchased ships and squadrons are superior.

    ----------------------
    For example:
Charlie has an Imperial fleet of 460 points. Samantha a Rebel fleet of 410 points. The gap between the fleet sizes is 50 points, so Samantha may spend 50 temporary points. She can afford a capital ship so must buy one first (she chooses a Corvette-B for 39). She then has 11 points left, so buys an A-wing. Both fleets are now 460 points, although Charlie's carefully selected upgrades on his ships leave him feeling confident of victory while Samantha thinks she at least has a good chance of a win. ----------------------

The result should be a campaign that has much closer games, and while there are major benefits to being the team that is makes the most points and takes the least casualties, the individual matches should be more fair and enjoyable.

Comments and additional suggestions are welcome. We'll be trying this out in a campaign starting here this week.

I don't see anything ambiguous about that ability.  The commas break the sentence into 3 distinct parts.  Part 1 (when)  "Before you activate this character," this defines when you may use the ability. - comma
Part 2 (ability) "you may play a weapon from your discard pile on her," this defines what the ability is. - comma
Part 3 (additional effect) "decreasing its cost by 1 if it has the word "Thermal" in its title."  See how the last portion defines an extra function of the ability, along with when you can use it, with no further sentence breaks?  Based on the structure of this sentence, the Thermal qualifier only applies to the last section.  If that was part of the requirement to play the weapon in the first place, the Thermal qualifier would've needed to be part of the 2nd portion of the sentence, or the entire sentence structure would've needed to be different.

I've been avoiding the forums of late because of the rampant negativity people like Rienholt have been perpetuating. The only shouting down I've seen is from people claiming, once again, the game is dying, this time because flotillas are supposedly terrible for the game. I watch people like CNinja and JJ try to have rational discussions, only to be accused of shouting people down. Please stop. I love this community because it is usually so positive and welcoming. That has not been the case on these forums of late. I wish you had come to the Stele Open. I've been high on our community since that fantastic experience. If you're tired of 2 ships+flots, bring something else. My latest is 4 combat ships and 2 flots with freaking Madine and I'm having a total blast.

So cool of you to come here, a thread made by me, one of the guys who hasn't come into your threads to piss on your Cheerios, so you could "turn against the community". That's lots of fun. Thanks for that.

If the reasoning behind their moving away has to do with the mechanical side of the game, it would be the first time any one of them expressed anything other than enjoyment for the game. Our community was open, we tried house rules, and we listened to our members, we would sit and BS after games about what works and what doesn't. We were there to have fun, it was not a heavily competitive environment. Add to that that the people moving away from our group did so not after 30+ games of wave 3&4 but only a month after wave 5, leads me to think if "boredom" was the actual cause and not the excuse they gave, then it wasn't from wave 3, but from wave 5.

In any case, I hardly think negative responses to your opinion made by other folks in other threads is a reasonable excuse to be a **** here.

I'd second trying out vassal. It can take some getting used to, but it is well worth it! I'm kinda in the middle of nowhere myself and maybe get an IRL tournament every few months (usually with 2-4 attendees). Vassal really helped me to get in games when I otherwise couldn't, and I've met a lot of good friends through it (some of whom I've had the pleasure to meet IRL).

Also, Reinholt, I'm deeply saddened by how you currently feel the gamestate is. You are entitled to your opinions, and many people have been open to calm discussion about the topic. I'm saddened to see you resort to the tactics you seem to condemn in others, it doesn't suit you.
