  1. That would be crazy and imply that I generally think that all top tier players must cheat. I am sorry if my questions made you think that I suspect all of my opponents of cheating. I am very well aware that this is in general a delicate topic, but an important one nonetheless. It is easy to misunderstand my question as being salty, excusing own shortcomings or suggesting. I am not. Actually I look forward to learn a lot in the Tournament tomorrow and would really be happy to play against you. @Jimbo2142 If he repositions fighters or ships by accidentially touching them it is your right to reposition them again. must be somewhere in the rules or the tournament rules
  2. You are absolutely right about that. Also I do not want to accuse all of my opponents of cheating or that they might cheat as this sets a rather unfriendly tone. Still I sometimes had the feeling my opponents were just so miraculously precise with their commands about things that could hardly be foreseen. Maybe thats just me not having this foresight of course. Or maybe it was luck. Or cheating. P.S.: I am not being salty here, I still won those games. I still want to protect myself from cheating the best way possible.
  3. Hey everyone. With the german nationals dropping this weekend I am looking forward to a great weekend of games and am really looking forward to meeting some of you guys in person if possible. What else came to my mind after my last tournament is the ease with which it is possible to cheat in Armada in my opinion. In the command phase you dial in the commands and position them below the others. Some people take all commands in their hands and just dial the lowest one and put the "tower" down. Fact is: While my opponent is dialing in his commands, I am doing the same. It is very hard to see if they manipulate more than just the current dial. In X-Wing it was way easier for me to have a look at my opponent while we both dial in manuevers. So how do you solve this problem? Or do you not care?
  4. Problem here is that with the list being as it is I already spent too much anyway. Bid over here should be in the high 380s as well. With the BTAvenger with exracks and a commsnet i will be at 399. For a Tournament that is not enough. But then again @Thrindal- Do i need to be first? I will fly the Kuat and the Demolisher aggressively enough so that it shouldnt be too much of a problem to be second. Or is it? Triple tap Demolisher is sexy of course. What can I skip? Gunnery Team on the VSD? Oh and with the gozantis I can say they pull their own weight if flown correctly. Yesterday they killed a limping Assault Frigate over two rounds with double arcs and concentrate fire.

Alternative for the Kuat would be a BTAvenger for 138 Pts. which leaves me at 397 in total. Overall I really love this list. Only real Question: Do I need to strip it down to get a better Bid for Initiative or is this fine?
  6. Hey all, I am currently working out Lists for the next Nationals in Germany and came to the conclusion, that the TIE Defender might be the best All-Rounder we can get in the game when comparing cost and performance. Now that statement may not hold true anymore, as squad synergies usually top a 133 point 7 defender + maarek squad composition. But when paired with Thrawn I would say they are the most logical choice. They can fight squad to squad and hold their own with superior hull. They can zoom the battlefield with unprecedented speed. They have very decent but unmodifyable anti squad armament. All this for 16 points. In a Thrawn List they can apply to any requirement when supported by ship AA. Is this a true assessment or would you guys say I could find better choices.
  7. yes, right now everything is just speculation. without knowing the full stats and the implementation of the ssd it is too early to be afraid of a double ssd list. or about the ssd being unbalanced in general. this is just the reputation and implication of the capability a super star destroyer brings along fluff wise.
  8. unconditionally happy. i wanted this thig from the moment i knew that they are making this game. the ssd is what this game is all about. Massive space battles in star wars. with massive ships. it would be strange to me if someone really is surprised that they actually do release the ssd. but maybe that is just my xwing background. epic play was bound to happen. and i could not be more happy about it
  9. It is not about admiral synergy but about keeping double ssd out of competitive play in general. that is all.
  10. I actually thought about Kallus and had him in before. But more points means less chance to be first. Advanced Gunnery works well with both the glad and the isd so thats why I would want to keep it. fighter ambush should be worth a try. I think it has some advantage against certain lists. It can also have the drawback of being worth nothing if my opponent has a strong fighter wing. Will test it. You mean because of the titles ability? Can you please explain a bit more? I really just fear to lose the ability for triple tap Oh and for the commsnet: it works well with thrawn and gives me some flexibility. I love slicer tools but rarely see a way to implement it well. in a list that goes second i suppose they work better than as first player
  11. Hey all. I tested a variation of the following List with Chimaera title and such and came to this list as a conclusion of things that I feel didnt work out as effective as I wished. I am sure that some will recognize main parts of this list as it was in the top4 of the Euros, namely nooby le noob. Difference here is that I go for the Initiative bid and some other customizations. Main reason for these customizations lies in the fact that I like going first - especially with a ship like the demo or other melee fighters. If you can, give me some advice or even please explain to me why I would go for second player with these bad boys. In general I feel comfortable with my setup, although the bid might be not enough for premium tournaments. Gory Glory Author: Angroth Faction: Galactic Empire Points: 392/400 Commander: Grand Admiral Thrawn Assault Objective: Advanced Gunnery Defense Objective: Contested Outpost Navigation Objective: Superior Positions [ flagship ] Imperial Star Destroyer Kuat Refit (112 points) - Grand Admiral Thrawn ( 32 points) - Strategic Adviser ( 4 points) - Ruthless Strategists ( 4 points) - Early Warning System ( 7 points) - Leading Shots ( 4 points) - Ordnance Pods ( 3 points) = 166 total ship cost Gladiator II-Class Star Destroyer (62 points) - Demolisher ( 10 points) - Ordnance Experts ( 4 points) - External Racks ( 3 points) = 79 total ship cost Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 points) - Comms Net ( 2 points) = 25 total ship cost Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 points) - Bomber Command Center ( 8 points) = 31 total ship cost 4 TIE Bomber Squadrons ( 36 points) 1 Lambda-class Shuttle ( 15 points) 1 JumpMaster 5000 ( 12 points) 1 "Mauler" Mithel ( 15 points) 1 Tempest Squadron ( 13 points) = 91 total squadron cost
  12. With all the Info I got from you and after a lot of considering I finally made my first list that was satisfactory at least for a few moments. Then i discovered its weaknesses. But first: The Gloves come off Author: Angroth Faction: Galactic Empire Points: 391/400 Commander: Grand Admiral Thrawn Assault Objective: Advanced Gunnery Defense Objective: Contested Outpost Navigation Objective: Superior Positions [ flagship ] Imperial Star Destroyer Kuat Refit (112 points) - Grand Admiral Thrawn ( 32 points) - Strategic Adviser ( 4 points) - Fire-Control Team ( 2 points) - Early Warning System ( 7 points) - Leading Shots ( 4 points) - Assault Concussion Missiles ( 7 points) = 168 total ship cost Gladiator I-Class Star Destroyer (56 points) - Demolisher ( 10 points) - Ordnance Experts ( 4 points) - Assault Proton Torpedoes ( 5 points) = 75 total ship cost Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 points) - Comms Net ( 2 points) = 25 total ship cost Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 points) - Comms Net ( 2 points) = 25 total ship cost 4 TIE Bomber Squadrons ( 36 points) 1 Dengar ( 20 points) 1 "Mauler" Mithel ( 15 points) 1 Soontir Fel ( 18 points) 1 Black Squadron ( 9 points) = 98 total squadron cost Overall I like it. The plan is clear and the list is streamlined towards that goal. Get up close and personal. But that is the biggest problem: Getting close. If my opponent has the means and the motivation he can just keep me at a distance to pling away at me. The other Problem would be a decidedly forceful fighter attack against my wing. But mostly I feel confident on that front. Maybe I should alter the list slightly to go second and have objectives that force my opponent into range? that way I would avoid the problem of having to chase them if their objective demands it. Then again that would hold the problem of the Demolisher not being able to triple tap as easily. Or I go for a different approach with a ISD1 and some Arquitens. This would alter the list completely but makes it more flexible engagement-wise. I will see what I can come up with. But what do you guys think? Does this list have potential? What needs fixing? How does it need fixing?
  13. this exact reason is what makes building a satisfactory list for me so difficult. A Kuat refit would be tempting but the 2 squadron command keep me from wanting it. I prefer the ISD 1. Speaking of this - is the Avenger build common? I personally love the Boarding trooper Avenger disabling move. It is so devastating. Yet I rarely see it. With Thrawn she should be so much more deadly.
  14. Hey. How does the kuat refit have XI7 turbolasers? And how did he get intensify firepower!? Was it a Cymoon and not Kuat? @MandalorianMoose I was often thinking of a similar list but thought that Thrawn would be wasted on so few hard-punching ships. To me the two gozantis feel like a waste for Thrawn. But I guess they are not. Do you prefer to only take Squadron commands and a concentrate firepower command or something like that? in this composition i would assume its mainly squadron commands for thrawn.
  15. Ah thank you. We were wondering what the title would do if the faq would say you cant do what the card says.
