Kentares reacted to Madaghmire in Time to think about leaving the game for me, see also Interdictor
    Actually, there is some counterplay:

    1. In regards to Grav Well (the upgrade which dropped your ships to 0 at deployment) you could have simply not deployed anything in the Grav Well. Alternately, if you were going to slow roll anyway, you could take the free speed 0 deployment. I like to let Salvation trail behind my fleet anyway, so I was ecstatic when I saw my opponent drop a well on me.
    2. I have no idea how he got you going faster by one on turn 2.
    3. Tractor beams have a distance requirement before they trigger, as does Konstantine and G8 projectors. If you flew your whole fleet into the quicksand, well, that's a lesson learned. Or I guess maybe a rage-quit.
    4. Slicer Tools is an excellent upgrade, but its not cheap. It can only be truly countered at the list building stage. Cards like Leia, Wing Commander, or Skilled Officer (among others) which allow you to manipulate your dials are hard checks to Slicer Tools.

And to say he "didn't put into it" is disingenuous, at best. He built a list around these upgrades. He invested in these abilities, none of which deal any damage, and many of which require you to take ships that don't do a great job of dealing it either. He did, in fact, have a strategy. When you build your list, and plan out how you would like to use you ships and squadrons in the game, that's the strategy. His was to slow your ships down, and presumably use Imperial front arc fire to blow them up. The actual game play is tactical.

It sounds like you simply had a rough game against stuff you hadn't seen yet.

Cant figure out whats the problem with this... why is that so important if the figures need some, just a bit or no assembly???

I also was not making anyone use the line of sight rules. That makes it much harder to hit units past your own guys, which means the better your sight lines for ranged, the better lanes fast charging units have to get to your archers to lock them down.

One thing to remember, in the demo games almost no one took the +1defense modifiers. That's important because of the way defense works. To start off, the archers throw a red and a blue die. The max pure damage they can do is two hits on the red and one on the blue. With three facings (which the archers may not even be able to have-I don't remember their cardback) that becomes 9 damage on a perfect Roll. Now usually the spearmen are 1 defense and 1 wound, meaning every damage is a wound and therefore a kill. That's 9 kills on a perfect shot. Now if the spearmen take the +1 defense modifier, it now takes 2 damage for 1 wound. Meaning that perfect Roll of 9 damage is only 4 kills. Still not bad... but not game shattering either.

On the back of each unit card you can see the configuration of tray that you can take with that unit, then the cost next to it is how much that full configuration costs to field, so as the number of trays you take increases, the squad point cost per tray gets cheaper. Then next to that it shows what upgrade types that configuration can take, bigger units can take more/better upgrades. The shield icon on Front Line Golem means Daqan Lords only. Terrifying Heraldry can be taken by any unit big enough to have that icon. You can add the Rune Golem to the spearmen, however, you have to have a pretty big formation before they have access to the siege upgrade symbol. The rune golem tray replaces one of the spearman trays, so it costs 7 plus whatever the tray originally cost. He adds Brutal(blue runes[1 or 2]) to the whole unit. Since he would be in the front row, if the spearmen have multiple rows you can't attack the rune golem outright. You would have to roll an accuracy result (or have one dialed up as your attack modifier) in order to assign hits to him, then you still need to do 4 hits to get one wound against him (because of his defense higher than the spearmen units). Also any modifier that effects the unit also effects and upgrade figures added to that unit.

I really feel that Rogue One could be better than Episode VII.
I'm not saying FA was a bad movie, just that it wasn't as good as a few of the first six movies.

Kentares got a reaction from Budgernaut in Does anyone wish that this could have been Star Wars?
This kind of game is better suited to a Terrinoth/L5R kind of setting. I think that it would be very interesting if they would make both settings (were getting one of them) using the same rules for those who would like to mix both settings (or just to be easy to get into).

As a former player of WH40K (with Tyranids) I giggled everytime I played (or read) about making an old fashioned battle (rank and file) in a space age setting (like the same WH40K or even Star Wars). Imperial Assault is better suited for Star Wars than this kind of game. Orbital bombardments can do wonders...

    Just my opinion.

1st quarter 2017 is a ways off so things may change, but as of the rule set that was current the day of the demo the squad point limit of a full size game is 200 points. The human army in the demo was 99 with no upgrades and the undead was about 94. The regulation play size is 3'x6' with is twice as wide and a few inches deeper than the demo table. The scoring system is very similar to Armada in that kills get you points, but you will need to rock the objectives also to pull out a win. It's limited to 8 rounds.

Those who feel "disturbed in theyre gaming experience" just follow the movies timeline. All the others can play how they want without ruleslawyers saying they cant...

They should have published the game without the timelines anyway.
No one ever needed it in the other Star Wars games.
If they errata it, they should remove the whole timeline thing.

Wonder at will... Were talking about a minis game (with a very small dust of RPG) not a full RPG but Ill indulge in your "wonderingness" and say that first you have to know if those players (GM included) have a open mind about what they want and how they want to play. After you know the answer to that... you either use those characters if everyone dont see a problem with that or you dont if someone (or a majority) dont like the idea.

Its sad that many gamers want to enforce how all the others should play just because one doesnt like something and so shouldnt be given that option...

I'm not trolling at trolling at all. It is nigh impossible to take you seriously if your claim is that Luke doesn't count as, "like punk/kids opposing adults and society. (I.E. being annoying)" because he was 18. That is the height of pedantry. Luke is a kid opposing authority in ANH. Luke is annoying in ANH. This makes him endearing, it makes his accomplishments special, it gives his character room to grow. If you meant something other than what you typed, then yes... post better, please.

The packs are there to be used, or not used, however the buyer sees fit.

You don't like that they don't have time periods? Don't use them in your campaign.

You want run a parallel universe campaign where Obi-Wan survived? Knock yourself out.

The items can be integrated regardless.

If you really want to use them in a way that respects canon, create your own missions/mini campaign set before ANH.

These fall squarely in the "do whatever you want with them, and don't let anybody tell you what to do" category.

Always said that FFG shot themselves in the feet with that Time Period (or the way its written) thing. Ruleslawyers will always point that out for a reason that FFG shouldnt be releasing minis from before the 1st Death Star like its a commandment from a higher power.

FFG will release whatever they want and those that dont like it only need to not buy them. Simple. No one is pointing a gun to the head to anyone not willing to buy.
