Peace my FFG brodas and sistas.

Wanted to share with you the latest splashing on some IA:Minis. I have a hugeeeee lot on my workbench to paint for multiple IA sets. But I've painted most everything once or twice, except for the Hoth miniatures.

I decided to take a stab at them, let me know your thoughts.

My take on the elite red Heavy Storm Trooper. Again a simple but IMO very effective head swap. The heads are from Anvil Industries Black Ops Exo Lords Helmets/Heads Set. After that a darker grey paint.

And a group shot with Officer (under the helmets they are all Chiss)

More Imperial Assault minis got painted!

Two Royal Guard (never understood why the Emperor has a Royal Guard...) and an E-Web Engineer.
The flimsy plastic power cable on the model was not to my liking. Fortunately there is a solution - Zinge Industries Poseable Wire Wrapped Cable!
A great product that keeps up to it’s name.

    Happy New Year Everyone -
I've been painting up a storm since getting Return to Hoth, and here are the first fruits. I hope they're helpful to other painters out there:

Leia is especially tricky because it's so important to get her face right. I find it especially challenging to paint the faces of real people, because the tiniest detail can break the spell of facial recognition. And in the case of this sculpture, the problem is even worse, because although the body and pose is perfect for Leia, I thought the face was too long and the features too fine for Carrie Fisher. So I tried to use my brush to make her eyes and mouth seem rounder, and to make her nose seem shorter.

I was so happy to see Dengar in this release of miniatures. It will be a truly good day when we have miniatures for all the bounty hunters from The Empire Strikes Back. I like how tall Dengar is... it makes him seem very imposing. What the hell do you think is in his backpack? A generator? A leaf-blower?

And General Sorin. I love the quiet menace of this miniature.

The Echo Base Troopers were also very challenging to paint because they have so many details: buckles, straps, piping, quilting, pockets et cetera. Because I like outlining details like that in black, it took me forever to paint these fellas.

    Anyway, thanks for looking!

PS - I've also created galleries with pictures of painted versions of all the Imperial Assault minis. If you're interested, you can find them here:

Here are the 'family' shots of the entire job. I'm still working on how to get better photos, it's all very thrown together for the time being.
I've got another full set to get down on, plus the Hoth stuff for this particular client. Can't wait !

I'm glad that you noticed that too.. I shared it with some Wargamers and that was about the only thing I ever heard back. It's nice to know that those details are universally important. I don't have a picture, but i treated the barrel after feed back. Thanks !

I will edit a picture of the back in to this reply, thanks for looking.

Saying "what do people think about the cost of the game?" Is starting a conversation. Making a declarative statement like "this isn't a cheap game" is asking for an argument (or soliciting "yes men" style agreement posts".

It is actually one of, if not the least expensive of my hobbies! LOL!
My basement/man cave is full of guns, ammunition, reloading equipment, archery equipment, hunting/camping gear, knives, lead historical miniatures, terrain, leather/leatherworking tools, books, electronics and XWing ships. Yep, it's one near the bottom of the cost scale!

People will keep buying because it's a great game set in a great universe, and compared to other miniatures games it's very cheap and requires no painting. Not sure what you're trying to accomplish with this thread.

Peace everyone, first off sorry for the massive photos. I need to get a little nicer with the resizing..

I wanted to share my General Weiss, painted on commission for a large IA set. Was really a fun model to paint, and after painting the original one from the core, i certainly suggest that you never glue your at-st.. (maaaybe the legs)
I think in the end breaking it down can be extremely useful.

And detail shot of the base.

good eye !! Honestly, it was only then when I was looking at that massively blown up image did i think "huh i didn't shade those intakes.." owell.. the exchange has been made and all is happy. I'll def keep an eye on that for the future.
and also, a secret ! No masking tape. It does require a stead hand, but the trick is to start with the slim side of the wing, and not the top. Since they do trail to the backside of the wing, it's smaller surface allows for easier placement for which to drag the longer strokes across the top of the length of the wing:

Once those are there, then the orange panel laid over the top will hide them. (provided one thins paints effectively).

Thanks everyone for the kind words, I'm stoked to read them !
Bonus picture showing the grey panel on the other side:
