  1. THis might have been true for your group, but I know playtesters that abused the **** out of deadeye torps jumps as soon as they hit the shelves and they claimed to have warned ffg about it It's more likely it was like @Managarmr said and they needed to make scum strong and sellable since they were "just" Brobots and 4 TLT and kinda overdid it
  2. I would love to know who devolped what for xwing. We know the base mechanics were simply stolen from wings of war but someone added "that something" which made it better than wings of war, I would like to know praise for that. I would also like to know who the **** thought that palpatine and auzituck were good addition to the game (palpa in particular is ridiculous, on wookies i could potential give the benefit of doubt) and who else thought that nantex with ensnare and who the **** cares about bumping ability were good addition to the game. I'm also curious on who chose to switch hx edition, with its high and low, and who also agreed on the whole "hey, we are publishing a new game in 12 months, let's design slicers because why cares" Ffg guys managed to have a tons of great ideas for a great game, but they also destroyed it more than once, so I'm kinda conflicted... can someone really claim that release jumpmasters weren't a blatant cash grab for example? At the same time they gave me plenty of fun time so who knows EDIT and I almost forgot: ffg is the one to blame for keeping mother****ing worlds stuck on ******* Roseville Minnesota. That I won't ever forgive.
  3. Yeah sorry I exaggerated. It's not first time I degenarate into pointless rants because I think it's a good idea to read the forum drunk. On a calmer tone: why do you say online/covid season had little to no data? In the last 2-3 months we had 5 tournaments with from 130 to 265 players and 1 small of 55 played live. How often did we had such a density of data? And those are completly fullfilled events too! Then if you are only talking about post nantex nerf I agree, we don't have data. We should also probably start to talk about how faster a meta evolves and it's solved when a game moving from hundreds of small meta bubbles that on average only met once or twice per season to a worldwide more unified field like the one provided by the online gsp events. People here liked to compare xwing to MtG in the past, this is something that happened with Magic Arena for example
  4. Those stats are awesome, do you also have compiled against non turret non boba ships? It's funny and maybe even sad that Obi has a negative winrate even against warthog which is probably a terribly overcosted ship that basically win only against obi
  5. I might be a drunk and wooshing irony over my head but I have to bite it... No data for the past months? Really? I wasn't expecting youof all people to dig to this narrative. After literally YEARS of premier tournaments where data was at best partial, at worst completly inexhistant, the only bright side of covid were tournaments with all lists and matchups recorded and we are dismissing them because...? Can someone please tell me why the **** are we dismissing them? And I didn't even played there, so I'm not biased in that sense. Is it a small sample size? Of course it's small. Did we ever had a meaningful sample size? **** no. Did that stop anyone before? Were they attended by a particular kind of players? Yeah of course not everyone is playing online. But it's not like we hadn't the same problems before when, for example, USA tournament were far more reported than european ones. It never particularly bothered anyone before, but suddenly it does now. I can agree we shouldn't jump to conclusions just because at one of those there were some kind of snowflake, but that's nothing we hadn't already faced times and times before, but why are we startingjust now to dismiss some of the most complete data we ever had about xwing? Am I missing something? Is it because it's just online? Since I don't see people looking at the few live tournaments that actually happened I doubt that's the real answer, or at least it shouldn't be. We can obviously talk about how the 3 green generics panic is justified or not after the nantex nerf (by myself I'm more toward it isn't), we can talk about how ******* bad republic is right now (it's ******* bad, LAATs are overpriced and jedis were a dumb design almost impossible to properly balance because they cheat the game) and we can discuss about how broken Sloane is (she's another ******* mistake, you get a great howlrunner effect AND the best control tool in the game with the same cheap upgrade which punish your opponent when he fulfills his objective. Yeah she's always has been, but she was overshadowed by far more degenerate stuff before like squad of legends, 4 phantosm or oli aces just to name a few in faction), but I can't really get this whole "2 spacejames, 4+ galaxies and 1 invitational" provided only meaningless data narrative is beyond me. Of course it was a meta deeply influenced by nantex wich are now less menacing (albeit they were probably an initiative roll away from winning the only big post nerf tournament) and of course we wil soon get a points update, but this whole attitude of dismissal is triggering me Sorry for quoting just you, but I consider you one of the most interesting person I talk with in this thread, so my intoxicated rant wouldn't have happened if was just one another fort hyperspace yelling boor saying the same ****
  6. I don't think we can separate galaxies meta from its oppressive tier 0 list. The 3 greens generic complaints are ingrained with nantex existance and the same is true for rey zizi + raising popularity. Right now we are in a fresher and quite meaningless meta that will last for less than a month. The only thing we know for sure, since it has been so since like ever, is that playing against 3 green dice ships is frustrating when they are in the top side of variance
  7. What makes you think competitive players orbits more towards HS? Here in italy for example HS is mostly a laughable format never touched unless ffg force us. My international European experience also would tends toward extended being the "competitive" format while HS is the "casual"
  8. Sloane has always been good, but she was competing with utterly broken things like whisper redline +1, quad phantoms and oli aces before while also having less efficient fillers since aggressors were more expansive. But I agree with you: if we hadn't Nantex, we would have been ******* about Sloane since the last point change She had been under the radar also because the typical imperial player wants to play aces nowadays, not swarms
  9. And then all those supposed counters are pretty bad against the rest of the fields so odds are they won't even see a Sloane list during any given tournament
  10. What trigger first between the emergency docking and dead man switch? Both seems to share the same trigger but emergency docking wording is a bit different while also probably being a game state effect
  11. I don't get how anyone could imply xwing ain't serious business Especially in this thread
  12. Are spamtex counted as swarms? Can you do this with them on their own category? Nice work anyway
  13. I mean, at this point the only "surprise" about nantex is that Faan is 22-0 with it and that's something that, to my knowledge, has never happened before in this game. Why should I keep pointing at top cuts since everyone not living under a rock should by now know about nantex dominance? And regardless of Nantex: I totally agree that using the top 1 of a tournament is a skewed logic, but I was pointing at 5 different top 1. By now that's a data worth noting: even if it was just one single list in the field and not a pretty common one with crazy conversion rate, it would have been meaningful data once you get it winning 5 tournaments. I mean, it's not Justin Phua winning worlds with a unique list, it's 5 people (actually 4 since Faan won twice) winning in a row with the same list, can you really dismissi this? I'm not sure what can my comment about 1.0 detracts from this since that was just a jab at the long history of this very thread where 1.0 got shitted upon every now and then pointing out that we never had something like that happening before (although obviously we never also had such a widespread online play, I personally beleive that if we had that before we would have seem similar situation in some metas) And to be clear: I don't play xwing online, so same team on this aspect. But I also played at the only "biggish" not only tournament and Nantex were there too. And to be even clearer: at this point I'm even somehow enjoying the challenge of facing Nantex. I think I've found a decent counter and know the matchup pretty well... I've done 7 live games vs Nantex, mostly for tournaments. I'd say that's the archetype after rebel beef I've played against the most in 2.0... Still I find amazing people are/were defending them And I also complained against vulture, so that's not something you can throw back at me
  14. What will be the next best thing once Nantex are nerfed in November? Obviously there will be other point changes that makes this question speculative and probably irrelevant, but I can't help but wonder. Will ps 6 come back? Or we'll keep the current trend of heavy ps 5 presence? Will Malarus Swarms be better than old howlrunners? Will Resistance finally have its moment under the sun? See, this answer is the best thing you could have said to prove Flurpy's point, which was never about anti-semitism
