  1.      btw. Our regular group has not been able to get together for a month now. In light of our group's schedule issues we started up a new campagin with about half of our members, so in a round about way we have at least staved off our problem player's antics by him not showing up to just hang out.... I feel it is a half hearted win at best.

I normally prefer to attempt to reform such players first. But alas, i've been banned from psylogical manipluation of players since i tend to start minor cults via such practices. The last one developing the ability for every member to start chanting in unison with no lead in or prompting worried people. I just wondered when they got together to practise such things.

  2. Another thing to keep in mind is that players tend to get overly wrapped up in the small details. RLogue177's post about using freddy kruger and none of his players catching it brought to mind a game one of my friends hosted. He had a party of players with whom he'd hit a little lull in the campagin. Out of sheer desperation he had them run into The Lone Ranger.... no attempts to even disguise who he was at all, his horse even named silver. And with a classic Hi Ho Silver Away! *into the sunset* the next 4 sessions were spent by the players trying to find out who "that masked man" was.... Despite several more runins with the ranger not one of them ever put the peices together. Sometimes you can't see the forest through the trees I guess as i've done the same a few times.

  3. Most of the best campaigns I've been a part of started off just as what do I need to just get by from day to day in this galaxy. Fuel/docking fees and food are not free and lead to some wild spots and jobs just to scrape credits together. As a player I always find much larger ambitions to attempt to achieve while worrying about the little things in life. Such as "I now want my own space station, Lando Callisran had one why can't I?"

  4. Sorry, my last post directed @miishelle, not Merc.

My question is why would a GM even allow a PC that has intense hate for another PC? Yes, sometimes PC conflict can be fun and interesting, but it usually quickly de-evolves into mad chaos, which this player seems to strive on.

I as a GM do allow peopel to create these abominations, then they quickly get hit by a bus , and have to make a new character. I have even seen a group not accept a new PC just because they felt it did not fit them, and they would not hire them into the crew.

Rails, what are those? The information super highway has no roads or rails!!

Saddly he is considered a long term friend of the group, and with 6-7 Players in the group + our "normal" shannangins we don't want to take the time to fight with him over how poorly his characters are designed for group coshesiveness. (the water buffalo idea from miishelle's other post is par for course.) the facebook fight was largly due to us pulling aside the GM at the time to hit him with a bus. But 3 times in a row of me (as another player) having reasons to remove his character is not accaptable in my book... I wouldn't mind playing with some of you guys just so I can get some balenced feed back as to wether or not i'm just too difficult to play with.

  5. Agreed about the super troopers movie, tho i must admit that the title of this topic brought me a tiny bit of hope that this post line was going to be more about how to deal with players that are... how to put it... people who ask to be bullied and crucified via their own lack of common sense. I've been dealing with such a player for a bit too long and not sure how to deal with him since my group as a whole is split over his innaproprate behavior. To put it in simple terms he seem to go out of his way to create characters that are designed to not work with the group and then he gets confused/upset when the group members he's rubbed wrong get mad at his character and retaliate in kind.
