  1. Problem with Admonition is the cost. It's definitely a great title, especially if I can put Willy Blistex on the ship too, but I don't know if it's worth giving up another ship for.
  2. Game? Another list to take on? See the Lists sub forum; I'm tweaking the list I played yesterday
  3. But seriously, thanks for the answers. I have another thread in the fleet lists section where I'm contemplating bringing him along.
  4. I'll bring his X-wing card and hope that nobody notices.
  5. Currently playing around with a MSU list featuring MC30s and CR 90s. MC30c Frigate: MC30c Scout Frigate (69 + 18) + Ordnance Experts (4) + XI7 Turbolasers (6) + Foresight (8) MC30c Frigate: MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63 + 9) + Ordnance Experts (4) + Assault Proton Torpedoes (5) CR90 Corvette: CR90 Corvette A (44 + 39) + Mon Mothma (30) + Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7) + Jaina's Light (2) CR90 Corvette: CR90 Corvette B (39 + 5) + SW-7 Ion Batteries (5) ?????? (51) A-wing Squadron x2 (22) YT-2400 x2 (32) The squadrons are subject to change (I wrote another post today about that). Those 51 mystery points would put me at 391 (395 if I add Lando to my flagship), giving me a great bid for going first. The problem is, I don't know what to put there. I've narrowed it down to three options: Neb Support. Pros: Shmitty said it best--see here (http://concentratefire.blogspot.com/2015/10/the-importance-of-the.html?m=0).Cons: Limited flexibility, and those ever-so-vulnerable side arcs. CR90A with TRC. Pros: Fast, flexible, goes well with Mon Mothma. Cons: Fragile; may require some fancy formation flying to have 5 ships close together Han Solo (add a HWK and X-wing which equals 51 points, all flown separately from the other squads). Pros: Han's ability; enemy ships are likely to ignore him; with a little luck, I can toss up to 4 dice at a ship; if enemy squads do try to tie him down, I can send my other squads toward their ships. Cons: losing an activation; won't mean squat if my ships get destroyed but he survives Leaning towards CR90A but wondering what you all think.
  6. Anyone successfully use him in a list? He seems out of place both in a bomber list and in a fighter screen. I was thinking that with his ability you could view him as an additional ship, but the lack of bomber takes away from his otherwise great anti ship dice. Who has successfully integrated him into a list?
  7. Personally I'd love to see more vids of complete games. The WWPD guys do this but (no offense) they often use lists that I won't play with or against (like the 7 corvette swarm, though that was entertaining). Mainly to see how other people set up and move their lists.
  8. Ok, not everyone...Rebel players, at least... So let's say you have a non-bomber list that relies on your ships to do most of the damage and you're looking to fill the remaining 50-70 points...what squads do you, personally, prefer to bring, and why? There's no wrong answer to this. Lyraeus and I had a skirmish this evening and I brought along 2 A-wing and 2 2400s, with the idea of having the As tie up squads and the 2400s take advantage of their Rogue ability. They all died, but his squads didn't really do much to my ships, either. We talked about some ideas for mixing up my squads and I realized that there's so much to choose from. So what are your favorites?
  9. You may want to change one of the frigates to a torpedo version and leave the points for an initiative bid.
  10. Very interesting, thank you! I'm thinking OP is definitely worth it if you have capital ships in your list. Now suppose we don't have any heavy hitters but rathwr a MSU swarm...would SW-7 make more sense then?
  11. Trying to work a blue corvette into my list in a support role, to soften things up before the heavies go at it. The obvious choice should be overload pulse but then I started thinking about SW-7. First of all, it doesn't rely on you rolling a crit. Second, guaranteeing 3 hits (or 4 with CF, which can be easily done since the command value is only one) can force your opponent to make a hard choice--do they use defense tokens early, and try their luck against your heavy hitters? Or do they conserve the tokens and take the damage? Finally, overload pulse is most effective if you activate the corvette first. This can mean that in certain situations, you have to choose between either activating the corvette when you don't want to, or wasting the overload pulse. What do you guys think? Am I missing something here? Let's assume for argument's sake that point cost isn't an issue.
  12. Thanks everyone...that's pretty much what I figured. The idea was to offset the advantage my opponent usually gets when they get to close range, but it seems that these torpedo frigates won't even survive that long. Oh well, it's fun to think about!
  13. Anyone who's seen Spinal Tap will know that there's a fine line between stupid and clever. I'm not sure which side of that line this list falls on: Home One: MC80 Command Cruiser (106 + 67) + Admiral Ackbar (38) + Support Officer (4) + Advanced Projectors (6) + Leading Shots (4) + Engine Techs (8) + Home One (7) MC30c Frigate: MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63 + 27) + Ordnance Experts (4) + Assault Proton Torpedoes (5) + Enhanced Armament (10) + Foresight (8) MC30c Frigate: MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63 + 19) + Ordnance Experts (4) + Assault Proton Torpedoes (5) + Enhanced Armament (10) Squadrons: YT-2400 (16) Squadrons: YT-2400 (16) Squadrons: A-wing Squadron (11) Squadrons: A-wing Squadron (11) 399 points. Haven't even thought about objectives yet. This lets the TFs shoot 3 reds at long range, and when the enemy closes to short range (which inevitably happens, let's face it) they've got a broadside of 3 reds, 2 blues, and 3 blacks with APT and ordnance experts (which is the clever side to this list). That's assuming, of course, that they even live that long, and if they do go down, I'm giving up quite a few points; hence, the stupid. Any thoughts?
  14. I don't think of any of the liasons as "training wheels". No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy. Being able to adjust on the fly puts you at a huge advantage over your opponent. At Sullust I used Garm with Weapons Liasons to great effect. My commands dials were navs and repairs, but I could switch more offensive commands as the situation allowed. The game can be unpredictable and this is a way of mitigating that. Prior to Sullust in our game I was able to mess your plan up enough that your commands were wasted. It happens at times. Oh certainly. Our practice game helped me find flaws in my list and it definitely helped prepare me for the tournament. Let me check with the wife and see what's going on next week, we may be able to get a game in.

  16. Great show as always. Agree 100% with what you said at the end... the only thing that could spoil this wonderful Wave 2 experience is if FFG drops Wave 3 spoilers too soon!
  17. Well done everyone! Thank you to Bitharne and Truthiness for showing me a good time and expanding my Armada experience. Congrats Truth!
  18. Gee, who might that have been? Agree about the playing on Vassal. The Holiday Tourney has introduced me to concepts that I wouldn't otherwise see at my local league. Also, there is a ton of variety within these list archetypes. I shamelessly stole my tournament list from Hero's blog, with just one tweak. It's not working quite to my playstyle so I'm going to make a few upgrade changes and see how they work. What I'll end up with is the same ships but a much different experience than Hero.
  19. I have a CR90 in my list soley to mop up escape pods.
  20. Bees...bees everywhere. There was no escape. Run. Save yourselves. Seriously, that was incredible. I don't think I've ever been clobbered that badly.
  21. We could always make a podcast. . . Oh man...I wish I had the time...
  22. Will give it a listen soon. I'm already sold on the under 20 minute length...I love IFF but I don't think I could handle a second 3 hour long podcast!
  23. After an intense battle that saw much of the action in round two, Iskander defeats Bitharne with a 400-110 (9-1).
