  2. EDIT: never mind, I figured it out

Inspired by X-wing Alliance as your character calls both Independence and Liberty home, plus you mostly fly X-wing and YTs but you do get to go with the B-wing from time to time.
  4. Warlords seems to be down right now but I'll post mine when it's back up!
  5. I was thinking of spamming Nav commands and using the engineering guy to repair when needed, but that's my own personal playstyle.
  6. I can't seem to find the link to the entry form on the contest page...is it up yet? Or am I just blind?
  7. All very good ideas. I think got too used to my MSU list which required both of my MC30s to get in close and soak up a bunch of damage and then get the kill, but with a battleship between them their role is somewhat diminished. And you're right about Nadine; with him I can better maneuver out of the way of dangerous arcs in the first place. I'll play around and see. Thanks for the advice!
  8. Already thinking that there may be too many points in the frigates...maybe I could lighten the load there and squeeze in a transport with repair mods.
  9. By all means this is a work in progress, but here's what I've come up with so far....the two MC30s will stay on the flanks of the Battle Cruiser and only break off if there's a clear opportunity. All three ships will close in and slug it out. Protect the flanks Author: Iskander4000 Faction: Rebel Alliance Points: 398/400 Commander: General Madine Assault Objective: Advanced Gunnery Defense Objective: Fleet Ambush Navigation Objective: Superior Positions [ flagship ] MC80 Battle Cruiser (103 points) - General Madine ( 30 points) - Mon Karren ( 8 points) - Engineering Captain ( 6 points) - Gunnery Team ( 7 points) - Medical Team ( 1 points) - X17 Turbolasers ( 6 points) - XX-9 Turbolasers ( 5 points) - Leading Shots ( 4 points) = 170 total ship cost MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63 points) - Admonition ( 8 points) - Walex Blissex ( 5 points) - Ordnance Experts ( 4 points) - Assault Proton Torpedoes ( 5 points) = 85 total ship cost MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63 points) - Foresight ( 8 points) - Lando Callriassian ( 4 points) - Ordnance Experts ( 4 points) - Assault Proton Torpedoes ( 5 points) = 84 total ship cost 2 YT-2400s ( 32 points) 1 A-Wing Squadron ( 11 points) 1 Tycho Celchu ( 16 points)
  10. Oh yeah, forgot the gunnery teams...I've gotten too used to the original MC80!
  11. For 2 more points than the cost of a battle cruiser you can get a star cruiser with spinal armament, which is the same as a battle cruiser with an extra blue in front and rear (minus a black antisquad, and you'd have to occupy one of the turbo laser slots). Given this, would you ever really want to use a battle cruiser? I guess you could slap a spinal armament on the BC but then we're looking at a crazy point investment. Thoughts?
  12. GR-75 Medium Transport -Dodonna Gotta make sure I get that low bid.
  13. Thanks everyone! I'll check out that article and see what I can come up with.
  14. During the Dungeons Deep and Caverns Dim quest, does Gollum get to attack more than once per turn? In other words, if I fail a riddle and he attacks, will he attack again if I fail a second riddle?
  15. I have a friend who is of a racial minority and he plays Game of Thrones LCG competitively...at one tournament he was paired against someone with a red hat with a certain political slogan on it. My friend won and the other guy said "I can't believe I lost to someone like you", and then proceeded to complain to other players about how it wasn't fair that he lost to "someone like that". I asked my friend if he complained to the TO; he said no, beating the guy was satisfactory enough for him.
  16. I hate to bump a discussion that has run its course but since I was the opponent in the game in question, I feel that I should add my input. I did say I was fine but sometimes people say that when they don't mean it, and as Schmitty pointed out my body language indeed said otherwise. I said that I was fine because I didn't want to talk about it, I just wanted to head outside for some air. That was not a fun game at all, and at the time I was actually glad that I was tabled quickly because it got it over and done with. You need to realize that what you saw as playing by the rules came off as poor sportsmanship. For example, just about every time I set up my maneuver tool you would announce "you clicked it in place!!!" as though you anticipated me cheating. And there were a couple of times when I asked for clarification about a rule and instead of giving a one sentence answer, you proceeded to "mansplain". It got so frustrating that by the end I was doing stupid things like accidentally using my maneuver tool to measure distance instead of the range ruler (which led to you explaining in detail how and when I could use the maneuver tool). Apparently there was a lot of gloating in the end too but I tuned it out because at that point I didn't care. I had other things on my mind and I knew that if I let it get to me, I might take it out on my final opponent which wouldn't be fair to him. In the end it didn't ruin my day; I took 4th place and I enjoyed my other two games. The other reason why it didn't ruin my day, and why I didn't bring it up until now, is that I've played against you before, including a store tournament in February. You were a great opponent in each of those games, and I truly had a great time. So I knew that you were better than that, and I thought that maybe you were just letting the competition get to you. I will still play against you in the future, but as Schmitty said, to those who did not know you, it was not a good first impression.
  17. I have a dilemma. I'm more of a casual player and I like to make my decks thematic rather than spending hours maximizing a deck for a particular scenario. However, after reading about the nightmare decks I've learned that they don't just make scenarios harder, but in many cases actually improve the theme, which I like the idea of. Has anyone tried using only part of a nightmare deck, or figured out a way to use the theme improvements without making things excessively challenging?
  18. As others have said, it mostly comes down to your own playstyle. Imperials play much differently than Rebels and while I've tried my best to make Imperials work for me, I end up having a better time with Rebels. Since they match my style more, I have more fun, and winning more is an extra bonus. As others have said, there are counters to everything. Every list has both strengths and weaknesses. Know what your list's strengths are, and be aware of weaknesses in your enemy's lists.
  19. Dude, I'b an Xwing guy coming to the dark side.....well....not really but....I'm liking the feel of Armada better. Don't get me wrong, I love Xwing, but this......*mind blown* Same here, I'm a recovering X-wing player. Once I found Armada, there was no looking back.
  20. Two torpedo frigates, both with OE and APT, and Lando on the flagship. Worked perfectly for me this evening. Also, my group has decided that going forward, if we play this again we won't allow any large base ships. Too boring.
  21. I second that. I've been an IFF listener since last summer but I can see how it might not be the best place for a new player. I admit that I ignored FWR when it first came out since I figured that I was already pretty experienced by then but I recently started listening and I have gotten a lot out of it. Keep up the great work, Jim!
  22. With all do respect to all the other amazing bloggers, I agree that Biggs' articles are the perfect place to start. He spells out what role each ship can play, what upgrades do and where they are appropriate to use, and also has articles about things like obstacle placement. He even takes requests if you need advice or have a burning question. The other blogs are great too; for example Schmitty and Truthiness both write about specific lists they've built and how they've worked for them. This is a great place for ideas about where to start with list building and see what ships and upgrades work well together, and then you can personalize your list from there based on your own play style. My two most successful lists were inspired by lists I found on each of their blogs, tailored to my own preferences.
