korneelt reacted to BigKahuna in New Expansion or 4th Edition
3rd edition at this point is over 10 years old and I think its had a pretty great run considering its a pretty niche type game. If they intended to develop a 4th edition of TI3 they certainly have plenty of experience and solid mechanics from the last 10 years to draw on. I doubt however that if they make a 4th version it would cater to the existing fan base. In all likelyhood they would be looking to stream line, speed up and simplify the game and I'm not sure the existing fan base would appreciate a kind of dumbing down of their favorite game. On the flip side if they make a 4th edition for the existing fan base, which at this point is pretty tiny, you would have to question if it would be worth it for them considering the scale of sales they work with today for products like X-Wing and Armada. They have done pretty limited prints of this game, I doubt there is more than 3-4 thousand copies of it in existence.
I think they have a far better chance of earning money by printing a new expansion, that's something every owner of TI3 is going to buy by default, they could probably calculate the number of sales they will make down to the decimal. Expansions also tend to trigger a returned interest and create buzz, which can trigger sales of everything else that has been printed.
All that said, I have it on good authority that TI3 is Christian Petersens baby and first love. If he decides to make a 4th edition it won't be for money, it will simply be a labor of love and I actually think that is a real possibility.

You begin the game with a warhorse and shield.

korneelt reacted to Kamehameornah in Dragon Drinking Game!
Haha! I wish, the more the merrier! Here are some of the pics I took and the full rules we used.
It was an Absolut blast (pun intended)! The birthday boy became the target, his drink count went up.... very quickly. 6 people, 20 out of the 24 drinks were completed. Every glass had 2 shots of vodka, 6oz sprite and 8oz Hawaiian punch. It was a good time! The wife and I will just have to finish those last 4 drinks on our own .
Oh, and we have a Talisman Hall of Fame... we keep track of the winners every time we play. Someone who has never won a game won this one, which is always great!

korneelt reacted to Kamehameornah in Dragon Drinking Game!
Greetings all!
So last week was my brother-in-laws 21st birthday and he LOVES Talisman. We have a solid group of 5-6 people who really enjoy playing and are almost always down to come play a game. My wife and I setup a game for this coming weekend, so far nobody knows we've turned it into a drinking game with only the base game and the dragon expansion. This is going to be double the fun because my best friend and his wife have not yet played the Dragon Expansion and they've been dying to try it (they have played every other expansion to date)!
We mixed 24 mason jars of Vodka/ Juice/ Sprite... Green, Red, Yellow... We are going to make everyone draw a random token at the start of the game, depending on which dragon they draw, they will have to drink when things happen. I'm at work so I can't type out all of the fun rules we have setup but I'm excited to play this weekend!
I'll try to take some pics of everything this weekend!
Cheers,
Kame

korneelt reacted to Steve-O in Is Citadels getting a Reprint or Second edition ?
Well, the game is certainly still in print, generally speaking. I saw a few copies at my FLGS just yesterday.
Perhaps it's nearing the end of a print run, but I would expect it to be reprinted soon enough if that were the case.

korneelt reacted to Deniax in DIY Card Storage System
[moved post out of another thread]
Hi all,
I was looking for storage solutions for Talisman-cards, nothing to my liking came up.
I decided to make my own card-boxes using cardboard (from spaghetti box, as a test).
I covered them with felt, also underneath, to protect my boards on which the boxes will slide (= occasional scratch)
test-box close-up:
here's the idea:
- keep cards for one region together
- No hard parts (don't scratch my board!)
- All boxes should fit in the box
- Be easily adaptable (to allow more cards)
- Build should be easy/cheap too (printer, scissors, glue, .. time, ..)
Each new Talisman extension brings an adaptation of the size (length) of the decks. So it's easier to adapt a file, print, cut and glue them once or twice .. than having to add/buy boxes on the side, for the same decks .. in my opinion anyway.
I designed them now in a Sketchup (v.15) format (on scale). Flattened them out by hand (like pepakura would do), and gave them a texture. (for which I thank 'Talisman Island's' Master: Jon !)
Here are some example-pics: (test-rendering)
Big Box: (contains all big cards)
CityBox:
Dragon Lord Box:
Highlands Box:
Magic Box:
Purchase box:
QuestBox: Quests, Talismans, Rewards
Flattened layout example of 'Questbox':
In case someone wonders, I don't have the 'into the woods' extension just yet, because I play the game in French. (still to come) So no 'wood-box' for now.
Now the problem is about printing and paper-weight. 80Lbs/300gms should do it, I think, but where can we go to print these nicely ?? (buy printer, online print, ...)
I don't really know about a company who would do the efforts for a 'one piece' print only. But some of you might have a good printer capable of printing on cardboard.. (preferably coloured cardboard, otherwise the inside of the boxes would be white .. yuk!)
Maybe FFG could do a print on demand-thing.. (although that seems wish-full thinking, it would be simple for them, as editors, imo)

korneelt reacted to CyCo in Map of the Dead
Ok peeps. I brought this up in the Google Earth topic, but figured that that topic might just drown and get lost. And also figured that many here might not check an older topic I brought back from the dead (ok, only a few weeks dead). So here it is;
The Map of the Dead.
Want to check up on where you can get more gas for you car? Or building supplies to fortify your safe house? Or weapons? What about guns and ammo? Medical supplies? Where the cemetaries are so you know where not to go? Where the police stations and military instilations are? Check out the The Map of the Dead.

The following link looks promising for us Talisman fans for music/sound...

korneelt reacted to Tomcsek84 in Music for Talisman
We mostly listen to bands like Cesair, Dunkelschön or Thetis from the folk side or Manowar from the heavier side. Sometimes soundtracks also, for instance Conan the barbarian (1982), LoTR movies, Hobbit movies, the newest Alice in Wonderland or Coraline.
I have never heard about Erdenstern, but sounds interesting.

Fate Master
2 Strength
4 Craft
4 Life
5 Fate
Abilities:
At the beginning of each turn gain 1 fate, if you have less fate than your starting value.
At the beginning of combat, before rolling the die, you may spend 1 fate to increase your strength or craft by +1. You may spend any number of fate this way and this is can be used in conjunction with standard fate rules.
You never need to choose whether your fate is light or dark, you may use either at will. If you encounter a card that needs you to specify your fate, you may choose either the light or dark fate results at the time of encounter. If you have no fate, you are considered fateless as normal.
When you win a battle against a player character, you may steal 1 fate in addition to your usual reward. If the player has no fate, he must remove 1 life in addition.
If at the end of your turn, your fate is lower than your life, then you must lose 1 life.
Start: Portal of Power
Alignment: Neutral
Edit: On a side note, I wish I had time to put together a good grouping of player created characters. I have the skills and tools to give professional PDFs for everyone to print... just not the time... at the moment. Could be a fun side project. I'd need an artist that would want to illustrate these cards though, unless I really wanted to dust off old skills.

korneelt reacted to DomaGB in Music for Talisman
I been replaying Dragon Age and really love the music, I may try and get a copy and play that for Talisman.
