As noted Legion is fine. Imperial Assault is over. I just was not sure if Legion was waiting on a what is next as X-wing seems to be and how much they had hanging as it were. I am just worried about the January suspected Armada releases. I sprung for the Clone Wars stuff but that was with confidence there was more coming quickly. This news is a pretty big hit on that confidence.

Is there anything announced beyond January (Clone Wars Armada second wave) for any of those games? I do not follow Legion.
-
Is this just development or does this include actually publishing the games? Nothing to do but wait and see what comes next. I suspect things can be expected to continue with regards the upcoming X-wing and Armada products this year especially the second wave of Clone Wars Armada? As long as we get those second wave Armada ships I can roll with whatever comes after. Is this Marvel Crisis game any good?

Ships I like to fly all have torpedo slots that never get used because the best torpedo is too expensive. I liked 4x Red Squadron Veteran with proton torpedoes better than 5x Blue Squadron Escort. And one of the big things lately is how to make T-65 better. Maybe give them back affordable torpedoes?

Point conceded. I am primarily referring to the VCX pilot.

I don't like lumping in Hera with Slave 1. Hera's maneuver ability happens on a zero agility ship that doesn't have defensive re-rolls. You put 12 red dice on the VCX it gets messed up. Hera's ability is the ship's only defense. I still think Hera pilot should also have the Hera crew ability.

I'm sticking with nothing X-wing wise except related to the upcoming release. Previews only for Armada up until release. After Armada release they clue us in for plans for the new year. Best case would be a Life Day present on seventeen November.

1x Firespray and 2x each of the others. I don't see myself using more than one Firespray in a list and can sub a scum model and dial if desired. I'm not sure on the points for the others so don't know what will fit. Typically two of something is not to many and I find a pair either enough or a good start if I want to go bigger. And what's the point of playing Republic if you aren't putting an ARC in your list? I'm also getting the Clone Wars Armada stuff and while I don't have a budget committee to answer to and a healthy budget for my hobbies I do try to not spend all of my coin even in the YOLO mood the current times have put me in.

The purple/navy Lancer is concept art for a ship for Ventress in Clone Wars animated that didn't get used because the episode didn't get finished. (I think that it was for the story that ended up in the "Dark Disciple" novel which is a very good read as a fan of Ventress in Clone Wars.) They then adapted the ship to be Ketsu's ship in Rebels animated and it made its way to X-wing and Armada based on the presentation in Rebels.

Characters thought dead coming back is a bit of a hallmark of the serial style stories that inspired Star Wars. Darth Maul was quite interesting as a crime-boss in Clone Wars and is used in some of the most highly-regarded story-arcs of the series. It is not "bad form" to tell good stories even if you bring back the dead to do it. I think a cheap shot that can really only be answered with another cheap shot is worse than either. I don't think it is. Perhaps not these specific Sith but this sort of thing would provide a much better framework for an ongoing conflict and for more of the spinoff sorts of stories they wanted. It would be a far better premise in my opinion for what happens when a large governmental structure is over-thrown while not requiring flushing the win of the OT out of the airlock. A failing of the ST in my opinion is the lazy threadbare underdeveloped premise that was a transparent attempt at a reboot of the OT. This premise at least would have a logic behind it as one just needs to look at what happened upon the dissolution of the Soviet Union as a source for this premise.

Maul wasn't killed the second time until after this idea for the sequels was not pursued. I'm not sure how the calendar lines up but I suspect that Maul was not introduced to Rebels at all until this idea was scrapped. Maul in Rebels could have easily been a new character performing the same role in tempting Ezra.

Perhaps folks simply do not want to fly the Sloane style list even if it is good. Perhaps it goes back to what I was saying and folks not liking to be on the receiving end of it deciding they do not care to use it themselves. Perhaps in the list-building phase players ask themselves the question of other than losing ships how can they inflict stress to not be dependent on what the enemy does to get their re-rolls. Nine points and losing a ship to pass out a pair of stress tokens and get re-rolls against just the one ship probably doesn't look very consistent or reliable. At best it doesn't look like it is something you can control. Sloane is probably "sneaky good" in that respect with players not really grasping how often their ships are stressed. That probably feeds the dislike of playing against her. You look at her and blow her off and learn the hard way that she isn't that bad. The control part isn't her giving the stress it is all the stuff you don't choose to do yourself that gets stress which may be quite a lot.

There was an Armada announcement yesterday. I suspect that particular hype train is going to hold the right of way for the rest of the month.

Doing what one needs to do to win the game incurring a bad outcome is something of a problematic experience that not everyone is going to handle with poise. Sloane and Hate are considerably annoying cards in my opinion that challenge my ability to separate emotions from intellectual detachment. There is an aspect of being forced to step into the trap or you can't win the game. We should not fault players for finding that prospect disagreeable.

I just decided to go with two of the squadrons and starters and one of the upgrade cards. Not much sense in pretending I'm not going to do that in the long run anyway and with the uncertainty about individual releases. Benefits of not needing to answer to a budget committee.
-
Chances are one starter will be inadequate for 400 point fleets. It should easily provide a 200 point "Task Force" fleet. There are additional expansions alleged to be on the way for January. So depending on your patience at the jump getting a Starter and Squadrons pack and waiting till the next two Republic expansions are released in January is a reasonable way to go. You will probably also want to consider the Upgrade cards expansion which will provide the various cards a Republic fleet can use from the already released expansions. There is no word on whether or not the ships in this expansion will be available as single vessel expansions. A second starter while a lot will likely allow you to field 400 point fleets and as far as acquiring models is good value on a per model basis as the new ships will likely see a price increase. A second maneuver tool is quite useful to have (assemble one to all four lengths and a second to two lengths for use in tight spaces) and a single set of dice isn't quite enough/isn't convenient. There is also some question as to whether new ship expansions will be including speed and command dials so a second starter may also give value in that regard. Medium base ships are $40 singly and small base ships are $20 singly. Dice are $10 and Maneuver tools are $8. Given that the new faction squadron packs are a price increase on the Imperial and Rebel a price increase on ship expansions is also likely going forward so two starters are likely good value in the long run if you enjoy the game and stick with it. 1x Starter; 2x Squadrons; 1x Card Upgrade Pack would be my recommendation to get going (after playing the game with someone and deciding it is enjoyable) with one each of the two additional expansions alleged for January and a second starter as likely additions down the road.

I am not sure blue actions are a good idea but the bit above about an action or ability that would let you remove stress or other red token is interesting all on its own. Seems like it might make a neat talent or modification upgrade. I generally think there are not enough talents and modification to improve the performance of the ships. I suppose that is part of balancing the ships such and such chassis only gets to what is on the dial.

Here is a rundown of the patch notes.

There was a stretch where the Warhammer folks were not spoke of well. The situation for FFG stuff has surpassed that. The Warhammer folks and the folks making all those little D&D miniatures seem to be okay at the moment. Everyone else including MtG are a pain in his backside.

I suspect the Clone Wars Armada is next up for previews. At best an announcement article for what's next for X-wing. Depending on what sort of time frame we're looking at for the next releases after what is scheduled for this month.
-
My FLGS said thanks for thinking of us but that I'm on my own from here on out for FFG products. They simply no longer wish to deal with the distributor. It just isn't worth his trouble and he's content to let me save some bucks online for this stuff that I'll end up spending on comics.

No. I will not participate in this farce.

I do not have to buy out of faction because I can live without having all the toys and I do not play tournaments. While I do have some susceptibility to obsessive collecting issues. I do not have to have any of this stuff and I am also playing two of the factions most of that stuff is in. None of that stuff is "afterburners" and they have released card packs giving access to this sort of stuff without needing to get the expansions. I understand the grousing and think they should be a bit more forthcoming on when we might expect another card pack but I do not think they are out of line with what is happening here. Most of that stuff is in more than one faction's expansion and except for the pilot cards the model and upgrades in Jango are usable by Scum. It is perfectly acceptable to field that new Firespray as a second Scum ship. I recall them also saying upgrades would sometimes be exclusive to an expansion before being made available in a card pack.

It can be slow early in the morning but I have not had that kind of wait. There was a day it seemed the servers were down. I could not even log in.

I have two finding fleet battles versus AI but not the other modes. Though waiting a minute or more is not uncommon.
