Looks like a complete shutdown of all forums not simply the miniatures games that have moved to AMG.

I look through this from time to time. r/XWingTMG/
There is activity there but there isn't a lot of organization or compartmentalization.

I think this won't be terribly damaging to the game overall. I think as noted it becomes more of a question of what AMG then does with regards to this. The big thing is an easy place to go for rules questions.
-
The surprising part of that is they seem to be shutting everything down not simply the games they are no longer publishing. I guess I will have to look into this "discord" thing.
I don't like change that isn't my idea.

Is it me or the articles seems to have a taste of AMG with the font used in the pictures, and naming the nomber of cards included ? The font seems to be the same as the titles that are used in the website of Atomic Mass Games. Check out the upcoming products, and their names has the same font also
That is good news. Though those items have been up for pre-order on the Asmodee site for a little bit now.

Second, if Ahsoka had trained the Grogu and gotten close to both the kid and Mando it would have been a great twist. Third, I was thinking Gideon would kill her with the Darksaber, then BoKatan goes nuts and Mando eventually get's the Darksaber.
Not very convincing. That is worse than not convincing. It is lazy. You're still on, "I'd have liked to see that." You're not making a case that narratively it is a good idea.

When you have ace squadrons where one model is being escorted by other models and there's more than one such group on the table, then it gets confusing. When it's "oh this TIE Advanced with two TIE Fighter wingmen is Darth Vader but otherwise everything's what it's supposed to be" that's no biggie. When it's "there are four Jedi aces flying around but you might lose track of which is which and where they are as they're hanging out with non-Delta squads" then I get a lot more iffy.
In short, I'd definitely recommending just putting a single Delta on a single peg (painting also encouraged but not mandatory). I believe you can buy the pegs from Mels Minis online.
This is where I'm at with this. One or two of these would be fine. Four becomes a bit more problematic particularly if there are also regular V-19 squadrons on the board. I'll give a mouse a cookie but he'd better not push it and ask for a glass of milk. It would be less troubling if each ace and accompanying torrents had a coordinated/matching paint scheme.

I think what we'll see well before any big sorts of changes to X-wing is some sort of game with bigger than Legion scale but otherwise unpainted and unassembled Star Wars models. Something on the lines of Crisis Protocol but Star Wars. Imperial Assault skirmish mode without the board.

How about you prove to me why that should have been the case? What does that narrative choice allow for in the story of Mandalorian and The Child? What makes that a good decision? You are making the extraordinary claim. You are the one required to present the extraordinary evidence.

That sort of thing is pretty serious isn't it? Isn't a burst ulcer a kind of internal bleeding? Sounds scary.

For me the primary benefit of standard sized cards is that they fit all the readily available card storage and protection and transport options. Those mini-cards have always been a pain to deal with. Special sleeves that needed to be special ordered if they're even in stock. Special card pages for storing in binders again needing special order if they are to be found. They don't fit in card boxes without special accommodation. Using binder pages is a pain because every new expansion the pages are out of order. They slam around and don't fit in card boxes and it was easy to end up with the cards all out of order. The mini-cards are hard to handle. I was always "spilling" them in some way or getting them under stuff or out of order.
And with presbyopia the larger cards are easier to identify by artwork alone while standing upright. I don't have to bend over and squint at them or pick them up.

I just chalk it up to differing tastes. But you also have to admit that diversity drove a huge segment of (white, male) fans away because deep down, they wanted their heroes to look like them. And that’s sad.
Sounds a lot more like it is just easier for you if the films are "good" and that those who don't like them do not like them because they are bad sad people. Saves you from tackling any of your own inadequacies with regards to identifying the quality of a work of art while allowing you to feel good about being a good person who likes good things. You don't have to re-examine any of your already held notions or the paradigms you view the world with. You don't have to consider that something you don't like can be good and something you do like can be bad. "Bad people think it is bad and I think it is good therefore I'm a good person and I get to feel good about feeling good about the movie!"

You can choose a preference for side before joining a dogfight match.

My misgivings would not be eased. I did not think Wonder Woman was a bad movie but it has some problems especially that third act which is a bloated mess. I think the movie is good whenever Steve and Diana are on screen together. I think that second act from when they get to the front to the morning after is good. But there are some things that are kind of awful really.
The thing looks like a bit of a passion project for Jenkins and that could be good and like TLJ we could end up with things that do not belong because it is always something she wanted to do. And Disney Star Wars has some screwed up ideas about leadership and the military. I am firmly in wait and see mode.
Plus there is my general annoyance that this sort of thing was not one of their first not main episode films and we are getting this after comments from Kennedy about not having material to crib from.

Huh...
I'm a bit cheesed off that they didn't finish the other story arc with the Bad Batch. This and Ahsoka are about the only things in that vomit of titles that were exciting. I should be more excited about Rogue Squadron but I have some pretty serious misgivings.

While it may be still up in the air whether the transition will be good in design and development sense, it certainly makes sense to move all of your miniatures games into the same house especially when all of those IP's are owned by the same company: Disney.
With that said, I do still want a new announcement for a myriad of reasons. Certainly, I want to see them because content is content and because the original factions could use some new life, but I definitely still want the announcement for consumer confidence, as well. As much as I believe that X-wing is not dying, a new release announcement would give me confidence that the transition is going well. I think we all would like to see that.
Without any news about what is on the horizon the game may not be dead in point of fact but it will be hampered from growing and will be barely doing much more than treading water. It is death in retrospect, ex post facto. No news about what is coming is functionally little different than cancelled. They really need to let us know what's on the horizon.

While I know FFG has a horrible track record for being on schedule, I still think we could get announcements officially in January and then potentially product by March at the latest.
As has been pointed out there are typically announcements of additional expansions before releases of these new Armada factions. I was very close to cancelling my pre-order with the studio change and no information on further expansions. It is quite concerning that no information about the additional soft announcement expansions has been released.

Honestly I am fairly sure I'm going to break hyperspace ring.
I had no trouble fitting the ETA, the Delta, or the V-Wing into the ring. It was snug but easy enough.

2 minutes ago, 5050Saint said:X-wing has 3 unofficially announced expansions. Also, in the Adepticon 2020 stream, Max mentioned that two of the upcoming aces packs would be Rebels and Imperials (and hinted about a a potential FO pack).
How do the Armada folks find out about their expansions pre-announcement? For X-wing, Lion Rampart Imports lists X-wing releases presumably as soon as they are informed that they will exist, as has been doing so for several waves now. They have Pheonix Cell (Rebel), Skystrike Academy (Imperial), and Fugitives and Collaborators (FO or Scum, maybe). Does Armada do the same, or did the developers actually say "we have 4 expansions coming down the pipe"?
The "unofficially announced" Armada expansion was an image of four ships in an FFG stream. This is from an "official" source and spoke of in stream I think but there has been no front page of the site announcement article and no pre-order availability.

Lando and Kallus are up for pre-order on the Asmodee site but have not gotten official announcement articles. The specialists received proper announcement. They are up for pre-order both with FFG and on the Asmodee site. It is reasonable to presume the specialists are held up by Covid-19 related shipping issues since the Anakin and Maul expansions have made it to market.
I was not considering the Lion Ramparts listings as unofficial announcement but probably should do so going forward.
I would think they'd very much want to tell us about all of that sooner rather than later.
I am particularly interested in the Armada items as I feel in a bit of limbo with regards the initial release of Clone Wars factions. Without those additional expansions I'm not sure I care to keep the initial releases. I had a great deal of difficulty justifying the purchase even only needing to answer to myself and having a healthy budget for such things. There isn't enough variety without the teased expansions.

FFGAMG, I'm really needing a plastic crack fix right now... would you do a big announcement of the next wave this week, including not only new PT and ST ships, but also those leaked Squadron packs? Throw in some Epic release (Consular-class?) and we will get the Christmas wedeserveneed. They have had quite a bit of time to get it straightened out as to what we should expect as far as the leaked and hinted at products and unofficially announced products.
X-wing doesn't have any remaining products, Legion has the officially announced Republic and Separatists Specialists and the available for pre-order but not announced Lando and Kallus expansions, Armada has four unofficially announced Clone Wars era expansions.
I'd think they'd be a bit eager to let us know whether stuff in the pipeline can be expected. They are changing my perception regarding Epic and proper Clone Wars Epic ships would go a lot further.

1 hour ago, XR8rGREAT said:I don’t get why they changed the size as Legion still uses that size and X-Wing use to.
X-wing use standard card game sized cards for ships and upgrades since the start of second edition. Core set damage decks are still mini-American sized for second edition but X-wing also has faction specific card backs and text side artwork damage decks that are standard sized and a promo damage deck available at the beginning was also standard size.
