Confirmed on Rules Reference pg 8. Force and Calculate spend and modify dice during the modify dice step at a single opportunity, no matter how many are spent. You do not spend them 'one at a time' for the default effect. That said, if a force is spent for a different ability (ie, not the default effect), that is its own opportunity and separate from spending it for the default effect.

Yeah, thats a no. PIE triggers before the maneuver. So by the time Ved can change it, PIE's timing has already past. They really did seem very careful on what ships could use this
-
Yeah, no. They thought it through pretty well. The two most powerful Tie ships cannot use it. The Defender, and the Tie Phantom. That'd make them.. probably too strong.

Incorrect. The damage happens first, and separately from the obstacle removal. Keeping it in play doesn't prevent the damage. All it seems to do at the moment, is allow you to detonate a Seismic charge, and not remove the obstacle so it can be detonated again. Note, this may also prevent the removal of obstacles after a Huge ship overlaps it, likely resulting in another overlap, depending on placement.

Mace Windu : After you fully execute a red maneuver, recover 1 General Grievous (Crew): After a friendly ship is destroyed, recover 1 . Elusive: After you fully execute a red maneuver, recover 1 . Granted, nothing occurs after. So there is no "then do this". And the rules clarify that if you have no inactive charges, you cant recover them.

Major Rhymer and attacking at R0 with new RR
Lyianx replied to RedSquadBW's topic in X-Wing Rules Questions
That would mean gloating, which would suggest that the discussion was a contest or a competition, instead of a discussion on making sure the rules are understood. -
Sounds about right. For more on how to calculate score, see the Tournament Regulations, page 8. Note that the total destruction of an opponent means 200 points, regardless of their total squad points.

and also to avoid face to face arguments during events 😆 -
What counts as the "effect" of a bomb?
Lyianx replied to mightynute's topic in X-Wing Rules Questions
Agreed. "Before you would suffer damage from an obstacle or from a friendly bomb detonating" Its specific to the damage, not the effects as a whole. IE, Plating would not prevent you from Skipping your perform action step after overlapping an asteroid, regardless if you used it to avoid the damage or not. -
Yeeeah. I'm *kinda* leaning toward this being the case. While "Then" isn't specifically defined in the rules mechanically, nearly every time it is used *in* the rules, points to <This happens>. (Then, no matter what) <This happens>. Granted, its extremely loose, this argument. And im not dead set on it or anything. But just as one example. In the case of dice modification, regardless if the defending player actually resolved any abilities, the attacking player still gets to resolve theirs. The attacking player's option to resolve their abilities, isn't dependent on if the defending player resolved any of theirs. A lot of the text in the rules references seems to work like this when using 'then'. As i said though, that is an extremely loose (and reaching) argument for it.

Then explain Deathfire. Explain why his ability seems to say he can launch a device on death, but the FAQ says he cannot. According to you, the Golden Rule should allow him to. But FFG had to clarify that, no. The golden rule doesnt work that way. Sorry. but "because golden rule" isnt a catch all. And Hondo was not specifically... specifically worded to override the coordination limits. That is why there was a big discussion about it. I dont think anyone really thought he *shouldn't* work that way, just that the wording and the rules didnt support the intent.

"While you... attack" and Jango's ability
Lyianx replied to player655164's topic in X-Wing Rules Questions
And im sure many of us read it wrong, even after re-reading it 2 or 3 times over lol. Theres alot of rules. -
My guess, it has something to do with Epic play or something up coming.

Major Rhymer and attacking at R0 with new RR
Lyianx replied to RedSquadBW's topic in X-Wing Rules Questions
again.. not a golden rule issue before. All they did was state that "the range requirement of the weapon does in fact count as "and 'ability' of a card. Which was the debate. It was never.. EVER about the golden rule, and i thank you to stop trying to make it like it was. -
Image for reference.

"if able" doesn't mean "if successful". That's like asking if you fail a boost going one direction, can you try another. I'm fairly confident that the "if able" clause is there specifically for the SLAM action and non-existent maneuver templates (ie, you are not able to perform a slam using a 4 speed bank template, because they do not exist). IE "If able to even attempt it". But, im willing to be convinced otherwise.

Its either of the Side arcs as outlined on Rules Reference pg 4 In this case, Lyttan Dree's ability is referring to #2.

"During system phase" order of operations

Yes.. Player order and ship initiative. RR page 21 -
He works like most *assumed* he worked. Its rather arrogant to say "hes always worked like that".

Major Rhymer and attacking at R0 with new RR
Lyianx replied to RedSquadBW's topic in X-Wing Rules Questions
1. It wasnt 'obvious'. It was logical. If it was obvious, it wouldnt have been in debate. 2. "Unless it has an ability that allows attacks at range 0", I still dont see how attack range restrictions count as 'an ability that allows'. Its only their specific FAQ addressing his specific ability that clarifies it. Otherwise, this ruling would have gone against him. They need to flat out say "Range requirements of a weapon supersede normal attack restrictions" for it to be fully clear for EVERY weapon. Regardless, im glad its finally settled. -
Fuel Leak and Hull Breach, the deadliest combo
Lyianx replied to Burnes's topic in X-Wing Rules Questions
Nope. The Hull Breach crit is a replacement for the hit. Rules Reference page 3 Meaning, The cost you have to pay (suffering a hit) is replaced with suffering a cirt. The replacement cost (the crit) still counts as paying the cost for the Fuel leak, and thus, will repair the card. -
Pattern analyser and Obstacles - clarification
Lyianx replied to topacesteve's topic in X-Wing Rules Questions
I see this happen quite alot, where people think the perform action step, is linked to all other actions. So ill post this. A ship may perform an action when it is instructed to do so. The ONLY thing the 'Perform Action' step does, is instructs the ship that it may perform an action. That's it. -
The concern is, that things will be changes that do not need to be changed. Someone earlier also had the concern on yet more price hikes. If you look at FFG's store page, the Conversion kits have been marked down to what looks like 'clearance prices', indicating they may not be making them in the future. Maybe they want people to re-buy into it from now on rather than getting the 'cheap way back in'. That would be a show of massive greed. My concern, is they wont be near as generous with product, or tournament kits, or general expansions. But.. time well tell i guess. It's not like we have much choice in the matter other than 'ride it out' or 'bow out and sell' or 'keep and play with what you got'.

“If you do,” or if you do not. There is no try
Lyianx replied to Synel's topic in X-Wing Rules Questions
Quite possibly. Which is why i maintain that 'just because a marshall/TO ruled it one way at an event, doesn't make it "the way"'.
