  1. One of each, yes. RR pg 14 Correct. It only removes One of each stress, strain, deplete. Correct, if no other abilities allow them to remove it, it will be strained for its first defense. Correct. RR pg 20 Keeping in mind, that the effect doesnt stack. The strain token is a binary condition. If strained, roll 1 fewer defense die. The game doesnt care how *much* the ship is strained (for its standard effect). Only if it is, or is not. You gain a stress token, and move on. If you are asking if there are effects of performing a red maneuver due to being strained or depleted, no. Nothing happens. Stress is the only one that cares if you perform a red maneuver with its condition. This is going to depend on each person and their play style. I personally haven't used it much or had it used against me much. But i can see the utility in it. I do however think that FFG puts more weight behind them than they actually have.
  2. It really depends on what the card is asking. Snapshot is fine because its a separate weapon. Fearless is looking for a front arc Primary, which the YV-666 does not have. Outmaneuver isnt restricted to the Primary weapon, so while it doesnt work on his Primary, if he had a Canon with a Front arc (such as an Ion Cannon) that he used for the attack, it would work with that. Basically, its situational. The only thing we can say with certainty is anything looking at a "Front Arc Primary" is useless on the YV-666.
  3. The template itself cannot overlap an obstacle (unless you have a specific ability that allows it). If you can place the template and the ship final position so it doesn't overlap, then that is a valid position. Rules Reference pg 6
  4. The Subreddit r/XWingTMG/ also has a sticky thread named "Got a question? Ask it here!" that they 'reset' (ie unsticky then make a new one) every month or two where rules questions are frequently posted and hammered out, though (currently) not to the same extent as this forum because... well.. this forum exists. I havent seen, are they planning to delete this forum soon? Never mind, just saw this. FFG Forum shutdown
  5. Yes, but MANY of them did change to improve the ship. I honestly cant think of *that* many that did not change (i know the Tie Fighter is one) The conversion kits are on sale at the moment. It really is worth it to convert them to 2E.
  6. Awesome. Keep in mind all the rules changes. Many are subtle and easy to forget and take a bit to get used it. Have the rules references ready for any and all questions that arise (i always keep it on my phone in pfd so i can quick search when i play). One of the biggest things i saw ALL of us players (at my game store) fudge for a while, was the new Barrel Roll mechanic. We were so used to doing it the old way it took a bit for us to get used to the fact that it was more restrictive now. I think Failing actions was another that took a bit to sink in. Things like that.
  7. Yes. If they did not want to allow you to be flanking to trigger the ability, they would say "If you are Behind the defender" instead of in the defenders Full Rear Arc. (At least, it should use that wording)
  8. The problem is, HotAC has been revamped by different people in different ways. There hasn't been any 'official' 2E version that i know of, just a few different peoples different takes on it. I'm waiting to work on my on variant until more ships release, but its getting close to the point where enough has been released to start working on it (not doing rebel/empire though as others have their own variants). That said, it was fun in 1E, but even it fell victim to powercreep of the game as the author didn't really update it past a certain point.
  9. As much as we may think it should work, until a more official source says its legal, i would err on the side of caution and say its not. The way they are displaying the S-Foil cards (or any Dual side card for that matter) in the official app is you are adding the entire card (both sides), not one side or the other specifically . So it may not read what side the card is actually equipped during list building. Or it may not even factor that in. If that is on purpose, or by accident, we can't really know. We all just assume its by accident since the site got re-worked, but it could very well be that it was working before *because* of an oversight and they just fixed it in the new version. Also, Several Dual side cards state you flip a specific side face up, During Setup. Including Intercept Boosters, L33-7, Landing Struts, ect. The first step of the setup is. Which is after building the squad. I hate to say this, but there is merit for dual side cards not adding those actions to the ships action bar Until the setup step, which would make cards like Extreme Maneuvers (on Luke) or Advance Slam on Tri-Fighter's, not legal.
  10. This was a huge issue with 1E. So many of the early ships were just not competitive (or really, even fun to fly casually) due to the power creep. The flagship 'X-wing' suffered from this where only 1 pilot out of the entire bunch was even worth it, and you practically had to build the entire list around him to make it work. The introduction of new mechanics and maneuvers cut out the older ships that didnt have them. 2E allowed them to take all of the new stuff they slowly introduced in 1E, and evenly spread it out among all the ships in a much more balanced way. Alot of ships had maneuver dial changes not just to add in the new maneuvers, but re-balance them if they thought their maneuvers were too strong or too weak. That said, 2E isnt perfect by any stretch, and as 5050 said, not *ever* build you make will be competitively viable. There *is* still a meta. Its just the meta is alot more expanded than it was in 1E (thats to say, multiple lists/abilities/ships can be in the meta instead of 1 or 2 specific builds). They have been doing a decent job at making sure specific upgrades are not 'auto-include' that are not intended to be auto-includes (ie configurations). Competitive lists aside, many ships became WAY more fun to fly. The HWK-290 i think got one of the biggest improvement and is great now. I liked the Firespray in 1E, but being on a medium base now with a better maneuver dial makes it much more fun. This i think is the biggest help to it. Some say they like the upgrade/points printed on the cards, but really, if you are expecting to have to adjust those over time to keep balance, there is little point to printing them as it only adds confusion.
  11. Ah. I see. Yeah, i guess i can see that. That's pretty extreme measures to go though to win some acrylic and a glass for a table top game lol. I do hope we avoid getting to the level of MTG players though. Yeeah, looking at ones phone that deeply, or that often does seem a bit sus. I only play at store level events (lately ive been running them) so i dont see this level of behavior from our group. Tho i do occasionally get some.. 'less friendly' level acts from those who come from other areas.
  12. @Mace Windu While it may seem like it, im not saying i agree or disagree with the rule against taking notes during a match or with FFG's logic here. I was merely suggesting a possible reason why the rule exists. I'm aware how competitive the game is, thanks. As i said, the interpretation of the rule of taking notes is largely up to the TO as FFG (i dont believe) made it exactly clear what that entails, and how could they, as its so vague of a thing. I'm having trouble thinking of what possible notes players could be making during a game outside of the score. Maybe writing down damage cards they've seen being applied to ships? I don't know. Perhaps. Perhaps not. It really depends on each person. From X-wing events? That's kinda sad, actually. But if there are large cash pool's involved, i can somewhat understand it. But as i said at that point, its a job not a game. Who knows, perhaps AMG will come in and make changes in the tournament rules to allow taking notes, or clarify what that entails.
  13. because players might be trying to calculate how much more damage they need to do and to what ships, and just doing that calculation eats up playtime during the turns that your opponent likely wont appreciate rather than just playing. Having a list of their squad with point totals is one thing. Constantly jotting down the 'current score' is a bit of another. At least, this is why i imagine they do that. Trying to not get it as bad a chess where they had to time each players turn so they didn't take so dam long analyzing each possible move before they actually did something. This game is suppose to be fairly fluid, going from player to player, turn to turn. Not stopping at each moment to calculate the possible end score of each move. (this is of course an extreme example, but a line has to be drawn somewhere). I personally don't give a frogs fat butt about keeping minute scores. As long as my opponents ships points match up with their pilots and upgrades as they are suppose to, i just play until one of us is beaten, or until time, and see where i end up at the end of it. It stops being fun otherwise and turns into a Job. Just play the game. Leave the min/maxing and spreadsheet analysts at home.
  14. 2E is totally a better version of the game. 1E got to be more about the abilities, turrets, and initiative than actually flying. 2E fixed nearly all of those issues and now many of the abilities revolve around flying well and not just 'eh, this happens'.
  15. Required to submit to the TO, but i cant find anything that says its required to give to your opponent. That said, what is defined as 'note taking' is more or less up to the TO, and im pretty sure the general consensus is that having your opponents list in front of you is perfectly legal. So long as you are not doing much more than that (like making notes between turns or whatever). Its generally accepted by the playerbase to have your opponents list in front of you and they shouldn't be making a big deal about it unless they suspect you of cheating in someway.
  16. Iden Versio is also worth it for the Empire.
  17. A Better example would be "Zeb" Orrelios (Crew). If a ship at range 0 wasn't in your arc, then Zeb just never works and is pointless.
  18. Except it doesn't, because it is. RR pg 2 RR Page 13
  19. Correct. Rules Reference pg. 11 Crack Shot cancels a result, thus isn't modifying their dice.
  20. In this case, the someone you played with needs the text-based reference to support his claim. Also, since we are talking about dice rolling... You can Roll 'zero dice' - Meaning, if you go though modifiers or just naturally do not have any defense dice to roll (such as sometimes the case with the VCX-100 Light Freighter or VT-49 Decimator) You STILL go though the 'Roll Defense Dice" step and any ability that would trigger from rolling defense dice would still occur. For reference, Rules Reference page 34 (cut out most of the question, but this is the relevant bit) Notice the roll does still occur, even if you are not physically, actually rolling dice. This means that, in the most *technical sense*, Dooku would still trigger after rolling zero dice. The catch is, there would be no results to change so he would have no effect, but the *trigger* itself, still occurs. (someone can correct me if im wrong, but im pretty sure its accurate).
  21. No. It has never been the case where a single Die and multiple Dice were treated as separate.
  22. Nope. Seismic Charges did not destroy obstacles in 1E. They just did straight damage. It was as simplistic of a bomb as they get. Which is why they changed it in 2E because many other bombs had a very similar effect and made it not worth the price.
  23. I was thinking more like Qi'ra type abilities or Epic level stuff, like more Environment cards or Scenarios that would put stuff like beacons or signal jammers on obstacles, or even gun placements. Things like that. I dont see Seismic Torpedoes coming back after they basically have that function in the new Seismic bombs.
  24. While i agree, i wish they would clarify it more, as it makes this entry in "Dice Modification" seem more restrictive. We both know that there can be 'zero rolled dice', but that isn't really super clear anywhere that i can find. I think we've seen this asked before, but it would be nice to just get a definition of 'Dice Pool'.
  25. Except that plays no part in a V-wing Not *too* much of a point in it right now. As mentioned above, Qi'ra has interactions with locking obstacles. Jam protection is also a valid reason. But primarily, i believe its to reduce the failure rate of locking due to a ship being out of range in order to get 'range information' and then follow up that fail with something like Composure. It also future proofs for abilities they may want to include that interact with other (non-ship) objects). Also keep in mind, Remotes (buzz droids, Probes) are also lock-able objects that are not 'ships' so they fall into this category.
