I'm fine with full coop Descent game. I would rather prefer the one with OL, but I guess that's not what most people want.
App is... meh, I guess, that's where FFG is going
But art... In my opinion, it just sucks. But that's not very objective. Art doesn't work well for Terrrinoth - that's a fact.
Anyway, I'll wait for 3rd edition, by the looks of expanstion to TI4 not everything is bad in FFG

Letanir reacted to Sadgit in Widow Tarha Heroic Feat question
Using her Heroic feat Tarha may perform one single attack.  An attack cannot miss and not miss that the same time. It is either a miss or not. If it is a miss no damage is dealt to any target. Based on rulings on Stealthy (see below) the attack from Tarha's Heroic feat is a miss if range to any target is not sufficient.

Letanir reacted to Zaltyre in Quick Question about combining Mists and Chains
Remember that if you play chains alone, you start with the first quest (castle dalibor) then move on to the mid section of the tree. If you conrinuee a mists campaign, the mists finale REPLACES castle dalibor.
    Mists on its own has
    Intro
    3 quests (act 1)
    Finale
    Chains on its own has
    Intro
    3 quests (act 2)
    Finale
When you combine them, the mists finale acts like the interlude, and you skip the Chains intro:
    Intro (Mists)
    3 quests (act 1, mists)
    Interlude (Mists finale)
    3 quests (Act 2, chains)
    Finale (Chains)
I guess a shorter way to answer the question would be, "regardless of whether you play split or together, just before the finale of chains (and for most of Act 2) you'll have the same amount of XP."

    1. Adding Dunwich and / or Innsmouth requires players to step up their strategy, i.e. to be faster at assembling clues and sending people into OWs with enough clues to seal. I still win 95% of the games I play and most of the victories are by sealing gates, so, it's definitely possible winning. If you really need to prolong the game, skip a Mythos phase every one in a while (like every 3 Mythos you resolve) or something like that

    2. Green locations are not so often visited, true. To fix this, you may want to use this very elegant Guardian Amikezor designed, a long time ago:

    3. The problem of most of the Leagues is that they were designed by people not understanding properly the game; the Edge ones were especially terrible under this point of view; so, I'd not look into those. If you really want a challenge, you may join the advanced player league; the link is in my signature, and if you need further explanations, just ask me (I'm currently the administrator for the League, since the creator retired from forum activity)

If the figure moving has no movement points or will not have any movement points when it enters the space then it cannot enter a space already occupied. If there is an effect that causes a figure to move to a space, the figure must be placed into an unoccupied space.

Right, yes. All the response is saying is that the stone is not a hero, and not subject to abilities which target "heroes" (like shadow). Therefore, a stone can sit next to a shadow dragon all day and not worry about shadow.

Justin responded later in response to a follow-up:

Hmmm... I believe I may have misspoke in that email. I know what it is I meant, but either typos or a case of "the dumb" assailed me, I cannot recall. I think I meant to say he and him instead of it.     The positioning of the familiar (when being attacked through) is irrelevant to the Shadow ability, unless the familiar itself (if treated as a hero) is the one performing the attack. However, if the Geomancer is the one performing the attack while he himself is adjacent to the shadow dragon, the attack is subject to Shadow, no matter its origin point.     Molten Fury, Earthen Anguish, and Cataclysm all follow this pattern. The hero is the one performing the attack (either measuring from or targeting the space containing the Summoned Stone).      Thanks, Justin Kemppainen Creative Content Developer Fantasy Flight Games jkemppainen@fantasyflightgames.com   So, what he's saying boils down to, "hero position matters for shadow, not "non hero" position, because shadow only affects heroes (or things treated like heroes).

Correct!  And if the hero is adjacent to the shadow dragon, it doesn't matter where the stone is, shadow must be dealt with.

A hero adjacent to this monster that declares an attack must spend 1 Surge or the attack is considered a miss.   That is, if the hero is adj to the shadow dragon and attacks using molten fury to measure range from a summoned stone 3 spaces away, he has to spend a surge for shadow.    If, however, the hero is 3 spaces away from the dragon and uses molten fury to attack a shadow dragon adjacent to a summoned stone, no shadow.   And above all, if the summoned stone is performing an attack (like with terracall, not like molten fury) it doesn't matter who is where because the summoned stone is not a hero figure so shadow has no effect at all when the stone declares an attack.

Yeah as far as I remember (there was a post with that question somewhere on the forum)... but the Tunnel has no activation (or turn or anything like that), so poison and stun and so on would have no effect. Because this effects only activate on the beginning of the turn of the tunnel (which he doesn't have)...

The ones which don't need to be activated in the beginning of the turn of the tunnel, would still have their effect though.

This effects have no effect or don't work (the door still get's the effect... but it does nothing to it):
    Diseased
    Immobilized
    Poisoned
    Stunned
    Burning
    Cursed
    Bleeding
    Terrified

This are the only effects which work:
    Weakened
    Doomed

I agree with much of what DAMaz says above.

I realize that this may touch off the flame war again by those who aren't interested in hearing from those of us who like D2e the way it is, but ...

Much of D2e's enjoyment for me is the interaction of OL vs Heroes, the planning that goes into turns, out guessing the other, etc.  I agree that much of this thematic play is completely lost when you alternate between 1 hero and the OL, the next hero, the OL, etc.

And if you think there is analysis paralysis in the game now, wait until you play alternating turns.  Hero 2 spends time considering all options, believes they know what they are going to do, and then the OL moves a monster/monster group in a completely unexpected manner, and the analysis begins all over again.

Not only does this lose the flavor of a true co-op and working together, but it introduces additional lag time.

I will download the app and give it a go, to see how well it plays; it is possible that once I see it in action, I can learn to live with the negatives and enjoy a new type of playing experience - it just isn't going to be as good as I think it could be.

I'll address number 1: No, we don't. Without plot decks the heroes and OL usually have both wins and losses. Some campaigns go OL, some go to the heroes. When we used plot decks, a few things happened:
    1) OL won a lot more frequently
    2) Heroes got a lot more frustrated (before the 'whining heroes' response, I experienced this as the OL and ad a hero).
Some of this can be chalked up to increased OL power and options, but some of it resulted from many abilities to keep track of. For example, the heroes would attack a monster and forget that I could increase his defense by Alric's Armor of Darkness AND/OR by discarding an infection token, and now killing that monster is a much more daunting task than they had anticipated.
Plot decks do not always cause these problems- but we experienced enough of it in our group to sideline them as a general principle. Saves money, too.

The efficiency and power of a plot deck is highly variable depending on which one you decide to choose. As you gain experience with the game, you will likely find that the heroes will be winning more and more often than before, and to remedy "balance" you will find these plot decks to be a welcome addition to your arsenal. I would recommend not to play with them for your first games and introduce them gradually as heroes start picking up the game.

Don't forget that you have other options than ignoring a deck or deciding to play with one. You can choose one and only use the base card. You can deliberately ignore the purchase of some more powerful cards just because you feel the game is at its best balance power-wise between the two sides. You can let cards lie on the table without actually activating them. I think plot decks are a nice way to adjust balance whenever needed. I have almost never seen a plot card net me a quest. I´ve had decisive moments where a plot card was key to executing a sequence of play, but it was mostly backed up by OL cards or a specific type of monster. Never a plot card alone.

Rumor quests are a subject of discussion among the community. I personally think they give too much advantage to the heroes. I would never play one myself unless the gain was great and more or less garanteed.

H&M packs gives the OL more monsters to choose from, but also more monsters for the heroes to fight against. My hero players may be on the marginal side of the community but they always welcome new and fresh additions to the game in form of new monsters to toy with. Balance wise I think you exagerate the power of these packs. Sure, Kobolds are a big deal, Crow Hags are still under discussion too. Otherwise everything seems to be fair. The base game monsters are very powerful themselves so it's not like they are outdated by the H&M packs, on the contrary.

I always play with plot decks as they give a theme to the role of overlord.
I think the only overpowered cards around are on the heroes side, luckily they are not many of them. Crossbow, Logan Lashley and a few other weapons come to mind.

In your example, he would suffer 4 damage. The damage is reduced by 2. You are correct that the heroes choose who gets the pact. Indalecio may want to update that on the guide :-)
I think it's a pretty awful card myself.. And no, you can't choose to not use it. It is a necessary evil of taking Merrick's deck

FYI ... I added a new document under the Community Tools & Game Aids section called "Descent 2nd Edition Proof of Purchase".  It is an excel spreadsheet which itemizes all proof of purchase codes and the expansions to which they belong.

In addition, I updated the original post in this thread to show all proper image codes for those expansions that have them.
