Haven't been much of a painter, that was until I stumbled across Mr Sorastro and his painting guides. If you have not seen them, then pop over and take a look. They are very good, he even goes into mixing ratios, how to blend etc etc. Even has videos on Descent and Zombicide

I still have a long way to go to finish them all but with some help from Mr S they will get done. (Just need him to post his videos fast and paint faster
)
I have numbered the individual figures on the rear of the base as I, II AND III (neater than 1, 2, 3 if more than 1 in a deployment group) and different colours if more than 1 group with the same figure pose. The damage is then placed on the deployment card with 1 - top, 2 - middle and 3 - bottom of the card. Stops the board being clogged up with damage tokens.
I'm not that good a painter, but they have turned out plenty good enough for the tabletop.
It all started with getting Boba Fett and painting him up to see what it was like. He turned out ok. I then spray varnished him and he is now cloudy and the worst looking figure

I then bought the game and carried on painting.

Some Troopers with using the black and the alternate pose as elites when required.

The groups can be distinguished by the different coloured markings on the rear of the base, along with the number of each figure in the group.

The same with the Probe Droids. I find this a lot better then having different coloured bases or markings that were not in the films.

The Elite Officer could afford some gloves

The main man himself. Mr V.

Every time I try to upload an image it just puts the link there. If I click on image button and do the same it errors with unsupported file extension

How do you upload images into posts??

Jarvis, You could of still played your opponent for the trophy and prises etc but then given your opponent the 'bye' if you were not going. Doesn't make sense unless 1st and 2nd got identical prises which isn't the case.

I tried the following at an event on Tuesday night:
9 Bantha Rider4 Nexu1 Beast Tamer11 Elite HK Assassin Droid2 Punishing Strike7 Elite Tusken Raider1 Temporary Alliance3 Gideon Argus2 C3POEach time the HK's were killed in 1 attack, so spending the extra points were a waste. I put in Punishing Strike as I found that I have 4 models putting out 'Weaken' and 1 with 'Bleed' This helped as I was able to put 'Stun' out there as well. Having a figure with 'Stun', then 'Weaken' and or 'Bleed' on them certainly hindered what my opponent was going to do with them.I changed the Elite HK to regular ones, dropped the Punishing Strike to free up 5 points and put in regular Hired Guns to grab objectives or sit on terminals. With speed 5 it helped, and with Gideon pushing them 2 squares I was able to grab objectives and move back in both actions. This helped quite a bit. By adding in the HG's it allowed the Tusken Raiders to attack instead of Objective grab so I gained 2 more attacks each round. I also added Last Resort and stuck it on the Nexu. Helps do a bit extra damage when it charges in amongst some figures. I didn't select Devious Scheme as im not really bothered if I go 1st or not. I just adjust my actions to hit hard when I have the initiative. My list ended up as below and seemed to be ok. Will see at event this weekend and a Regional at end of the month.

Well played mate. Nice post. Good to see youngsters also getting into the game. Congrats.
Event should of had a top 8 cut for 14 players though as the TO should of been using the Advanced Structure for Regionals. At least that is what we have been told in the UK. So I would assume it should be the same for everywhere otherwise its not the same restrictions.
We had a store champs that used the Advanced Structure (that should not of been used as event was in March and the change was April). There were 11 players. I ended up 4-0 and lost in final game for a 5-1 result. The player I lost to in the final 40-37 I had beaten in the swiss 40-0. Missed out on a Plaque due to TO using wrong tourney rules.

The way I have always played it is, whoever has Initiative plays 'End of Round' cards 1st, then opponent plays theirs. The Initiative token then passes over. That is the end of the round.
The player with the Initiative then plays their 'Start of Round' cards. When they have played all of their cards for the round it then goes to their opponent to play their cards. Once this has happened the round continues with deployment cards being activated.
All cards that want to be played are played 1st by the person who has the Initiative at that time and then followed by their opponent.
Start and End of Round cards can be interrupted by other cards, (if possible) like 'Negation'

Last game I ran the following and ended up 1st in the Spring event at our local store. Although having the 2nd Bantha helped cement the win by killing Boba in 2 rounds (game 2 of 3) I don't feel it would offer enough.
Bantha Rider
Bantha Rider
Elite Nexu (Last Resort)
Elite Tusken Raiders
R2-D2
Gideon
Beast Tamer
Temporary Alliance
Usually I have been using the following for a lot of successes, but it loses to the twins lists a few times.
Bantha Rider
Elite Nexu
Regular Nexu (Last Resort)
Elite Tusken Raiders
Gideon
Regular Wookie Warriors
Beast Tamer
Temporary Alliance
As it is coming up on the Regional season, I'm looking for something a little more punchy.
Would it be better to remove the Bantha, Last Resort and R2-D2 from 1st list and add in Elite HK's with Explosive Armaments + Targeting Computer (or IG88 + Targeting Computer), or remove the Bantha, Last Resort and R2-D2 and add in Elite Rebel Troopers + Regular Hired Guns?
Or from list 2, drop the Wookie warriors and Last Resort and add in Elite Rebel Troopers?
-
I just put the damage on the deployment cards. Figure 1 at the top, figure 2 in the middle (or bottom if only 2 figures) and then figure 3's damage at the bottom of the card. This keeps all the damage tokens off the board and no need for the 'damage tracker' cards taking up more space on the edge of the board where you may have limited space anyway.
With my trooper swarm that would make it 12 cards in width instead of 6. That's a lot of extra space to find in a cramped area already.

@ Toqtamish
Players are expected to behave in a mature and considerate manner, and to play within the rules and not abuse them. This prohibits intentionally stalling a game for time, placing components with excessive force, inappropriate behavior, treating an opponent with a lack of courtesy or respect, cheating, etc. Collusion among players to manipulate scoring is expressly forbidden. Players cannot reference outside material or information during a round. However, players may reference official rule documents at any time or ask a judge for clarification from official rule documents. The organizer, at his or her sole discretion, may remove players from the tournament for unsportsmanlike conduct.
So the above quote from the rules regarding the 'manipulation of scoring is expressly forbidden' is not classed as cheating in your opinion??
Personally, that IS cheating and If I ever met them at an event I would call them cheats. As this will never happen I will just have to say it here.
You are entitled to say what you think and I am entitled to correct you if you are wrong, as in this case. They manipulated the scoring so they could all make the cut. This is against the rules. Therefore they cheated and its plain for everyone who plays X-Wing and reads the rules to see. It is there in black and white.
The ID rule has been added allowing players to CHEAT. The TO should of called them on this and he/she didn't. Hopefully they will realise their error and not make this mistake if they ever TO again. If I was one of the players who missed the cut because of this I would of made the TO read this rule and get them DQ'd
-
It will make them think again about cheating in the future along with anyone else. It is a great game with good players and a good social gathering. It does not need to be tainted by these 8 cheats and damaging the community as a whole.
FFG needs to drop this stupid rule immediately and if they don't then the TO's need to DQ people for unsportsmanlike conduct every time it happens.
The TO should of called it at the end of the round after taking the names of the players and kicked them out, not during. Would of made it a lot better. Or he should of just said to them "Carry on playing like this if you want, but read the rules carefully and fully."
-
They should of ALL been DQ'd by the TO for collusion of the scoring system and unsporting conduct. Given a 12 month ban from all organised events (even monthly store events). If they are found to have done it again then a 24 month ban.
Yes it is now in the rules but so is the rule about concocting scores to better your position (against the rules as per the rule book). ALL 8 players did this so none of them missed the cut. The TO should of had the balls to kick them all out of the event.
WE DO NOT WANT CHEATS PLAYING THIS GAME AND DRAGGING X-WING INTO THE SEWERS AMONGST THE **** THAT OTHER GAME SYSTEMS THINK IS OK.
-
Ive not played decent so no idea how it works.
Appears i have been playing it wrong in every game I have played and so have my opponents, including 6 events (3 Store Champs) That will be interesting then when my opponent sets up his HK's behind the bantha and I jump my bantha over theirs and lands on them to squash them

-
If they object just replace the model with the card version with his picture on it.

The General is inside the AT-ST with the lid shut and has fitted the weapons from the starter set. Simple.

If you have a move of 4 speed, then you would not be able to pass the Nexu as you need 5 movement points. You don't add the movement points together to have a move of 8. They are classed as 2 moves of 4 to be taken 1 after the other.
-
You could use cards to move as its not movement. You stop when you land on someone, so cant use 2nd action to move. A card could then move you as the card is not an action. If you are stunned then you cant move, card no no card. Which sucks as Beast tamer cant be used to gain a 3rd move as it is used at the start of your turn to gain the move, so lose 1st action (free) then your normal action would be to remove the 'Stun' (allowing movement/attacks) then last action being move/trample/attack.
-
That's if you want to buy the 2 core. I only have 1 of everything.
If I want figures or cards I will go to a company that sells them individually for a lot less than buying another set that I will not use 90% of the components.
I have ran a competitive trooper list from the starter set + kayn and stormtrooper boosters. 3 Winter event wins, 2nd in another, 1 store champ win and 7th in another. So you don't need to spend a lot to do well. Dice cost me 1 winter event and could of got at least top 4 in the other store champs were it not for the bloody X on the white dice in those 2 games.

It costs more money to be competitive in X-Wing than it does Imperial Assault.
Competitive X-Wing can be very cheep. Falcon, core set and a T-70 X-Wing and you have a list that can be competitive. That's way cheaper then the 4x4 which required four core sets.
But to the overall point, no X-Wing has a lot of advantages, but being first isn't really one of them.
It only costs 2 x core sets as you get 3 of the 4 Officers and 2 of the 4 Royal Guards in each set. So in effect you would have a 6x4 list. There is nothing stopping you from just picking up the extra 4 RG figures and a couple of deployment cards from somewhere else, ie Team Covenant in the US or Big Orbit Games in the UK (£9 including postage for 4 x royal guard figures and 3 regular command cards, instead of around £60) amongst others for a lot less than another core set. You already have the tiles and command cards so no need to double up on them which will never get used.

Yea. But if you still surrounded then you lose out on the auto 1 damage and to move figures. But can still do 1-3 damage which is the main damage dealer and should finish off some lower health figures that were not killed off in the original move and Trample on its activation.
-
Ive only used vassel for 1 game of Guildball but I am interested in playing here, except I have no idea on how the controls work etc etc. Unless my opponent is very forgiving for some slow play im in

-
That's what I thought as well.
-
If a Bantha is 'Stunned' and you try to use Jundland Terror you cant move the 2 squares or attack (due to being stunned) but can you use the 'Special Action' "Trample" as it does not state on the card it is an attack, where other cards have special actions classed as attacks?
Some people say yes and others no.
