  1. I get you 100%. I haven't been doing much gaming at all for the last 6 months but I do find myself still going on fridays, watching people play, and just socializing. Its been a huge boon to me to have such amazing people around when it feels like everything else could be falling apart. Now that im feeling altogether these days im back at the table and enjoying myself
  2. Im kinda sad, no one else has any feel good stories? Or is everyone at LVO?
  3. I want to make a shout out to my local game store in Fresno aka Hobbytown for being amazing and accepting! We normally play 40k/AoS but there is also a strong Xwing game (I play all three because I do not value my free time =P). I have recently come out as transgender and have been attending our regular night game night for the last month as myself (I'm not out to family/work yet) and the people at our store have just been AMAZING. They accept me as a woman and work hard to remember my name and pronouns. Ive had nothing but love from an incredibly diverse group of people who have no reason to be so nice to me. Friday nights are my night to be myself and to be comfortable being who I am and they have gone out of their way to make it happen. I couldn't ask for a better gaming group. I was worried at first based on our communities.......record on diversity but I have been pleasantly surprised at every turn! Additionally I baked them all cookies for tonight to thank them for being so great!
  4. question! maybe im missing this, why is everyone taking R4 on Poe if it only benefits a max of 2 maneuvers? id rather have a BB unit for that, or maybe an R3 for utility
  5. Im feeling the same way, until theres a turret worth its time I think the aggressor will suffer being that there are better platforms to launch missiles from in the Imperial Arsenal, or maybe Ion Turrets drop some points to balance it out. IMHO I think that the TIE bomber should not have a double missile slot that way Barrage Rockets become the exclusive domain of Aggressors and Starwings (and star wings don't need them!) and give that ship more value.
  6. I think you get them in the conversion kit. I got a ton in the regular conversion kits.
  7. The real question to be asked then....why are we having this conversation?
  8. The half in half out approach of editions is what slowly killed both Warhammer 40k and Warhammer Fantasy. People had armies 1-3 editions behind and they either did not work mechanically or they were simply awful. A clean slate is not only a new industry standard but from a game design standpoint it allows them to make a cohesive change from previous mistakes that were in made in the design process (looking at you TLT). Both 40k and AoS are doing better than they ever have in their histories and the GW company is actually one of the fastest growing companies IN ENGLAND right now. Thats what a clean slate in game design can give you. Soft converting means nothing because those people would have simply not bought the new content in the first place. And you would have had piles of legacy rules issues, or telling people to ignore 50% of a card. Its bad design thats a relic of a bygone era
  9. Don't be getting all bent out of shape because you are playing the game in a fashion that was not intended by the manufacturer. Its like getting made at my couch company for not putting a mini fridge in my couch. I really want one for the LOTR marathon but frankly its going to cost me if I ever wanted to actually do that. The company has to make a product that will appeal to the greatest amount of customers, not a group that constitutes less than 1% of its market.
  10. No worries....working there was a pleasant experience that was part of a greater arc non-accomplishment/self realization. I still eat plenty of pizza today when my body allows it =P ! I really really hope they release some new turrets soon so things like aggressors can have a lot more fun on the table, Dorsal turrets just aren't cutting it and Ion is only occasionally reasonable.
  11. The only odd choices I found were things like 3 inquisitor TIE and only 2 advanced, or 2 Phantom II and 2 Sabine's TIE. Im sure that was a little on purpose. But for the price and the AMOUNT of stuff I got I was quite pleased. Only have bought one of each kit I have a ton of left over cards I regularly give to new players and people who only needed 1 or 2 kits. Its not perfect but it works just fine and it could have been way way worse (just look at how GW used to do switch overs!)
  12. How is it impossible to trade? Ive traded all kinds of mine with people.
  13. I worked at a pizza place for 12 years. I indeed shun it. But im a simple girl who enjoys pepperoni (and occasionally sausage). Also I dont try new things. But I do try new ships in Xwing, which funnily enough due to the Conversion Kits I have gone out and picked up ships I never considered before like the sheathipede, the Wookie Gunship, the Kimoglorinaianaia, and the TIE agressor.
  14. A duel it is! we will march 10 paces then furiously blog attempting to change peoples opinion to no avail, no matter how nasty their choice of toppings are. In the end we will play Xwing and simply get a half and half pizza.
  15. FFG will never win. I find life is easier when you only complain about things that matter like politics and whether or not Pineapple belongs on pizza (it doesn't!)
  16. So play 1.0 and dont play 2.0? That seems to be your only solution beyond them just giving you what you want for free. Last time I checked they didnt make that many promises and most of them were fulfilled. Yeah it sucks for those of us with large collections, but no one is pointing a gun at you and telling you to play 2.0 either. This really was the best way for them to get new and old players without completely invalidating the old edition all together. Plus there is a second hand market for dials, OR you can get with your friends and trade for dials they have excess of! Thats what I did and friendship is magic.
  17. Im going to double down on the idea that the A-2 is properly costed simply due to how it fits into its faction as a whole. I'm actually ok with the idea of some factions having some "imbalances" in their point costs purely based on what they have available. By that I mean that Rebels have access to a ton of cheap filler ships, Empire is king of cheap filler ships, all of which are fairly fast and/or maneuverable. Resistance has no cheap filler ships or even other fast ships for that matter, they will always rely heavily on the presence of the T-70 since its the workhorse of their fleet. I think they balanced the A-2 around that concept. Which i also why I think a lot of the A-2s also got more support type abilities as well, since they are going to always be a "support" or filler ship instead of a main ship, which will always be the Falcon, the T70, or the Bomber. This is of course only contingent on the idea that they will try to keep up internal balance, which so far seems to be doing fairly well. Granted it seems weird that the A-1 is points for points worse than the A-2, and I do hope they do some adjustment, but I believe the A-1 does not always have to be cheaper than the A-2 when you consider how much more the Rebels have to work with in pilots/crew compared to Resistance. I have high hopes that this girl will be flying some internally balanced lists come January!
  18. I really love the fact that a lot of "bad ships" are new and fun again! In my opinion there really isn't too much "terrible" stuff out there and you can pretty much fly whatever you want with some reasonable chance of success if you fly well. Thats the magic right there! I left 1.0 over a year ago because it became too much to manage and keep up with, hopefully it stays this way for a while.
  19. In addition to having a real crush on movie Poe im gonna saw Poe the ship, he's just so versatile and a very sturdy platform
  20. That is quite true! Which is why im not too worried about it. Pilots are pilots I just dont feel the need to shoehorn new ones into an already established field. I think scum deserves a wider variety of ships to reflect their nature more than just having more pilots. Will it create some less than desirable builds? Maybe. But that is what points are for. And the best part, Scum are diverse enough that they can easily reflect Clone Wars, original trilogy, and new trilogy in one faction.
  21. Scum being what they are all about personalized transport. I think by their very nature they are going to have low pilot counts per ship because typically that one ship only belonged to that ONE GUY. Heck, I still thinks its weird when they tack on another character to a ship that never had that many pilots. The Hounds Tooth is a good example. There are other pilots attached to it but for the most part it was simply people who rode on it once. The only reason the Scyk gets a lot of pilots is because there were a bunch made for it when it appeared in star wars galaxies. Edit: Also I just had a thought, would guys like Cad Bane in his Rogue fighter or Jango Fett end up being CIS or Scum on release for Clone wars stuff?
  22. I think just keeping your shuttle back and covering the center of the board may be enough to keep people away and let your other ships do work. If anything it can be an area denial style weapon like a mine or a bomb. People will not want to willingly go in front of its guns while its also doing some coordinates and maybe even pulling off a very well timed Jam. Throw a tractor beam on this thing and now you are effectively controlling big swathes of the board by denial alone. Yes you opponent can outfly them, but you have already forced their hand and taken the choices away from their positioning.
  23. Well that certainly makes a lot more sense. Most of the clone wars shows were like "Evil CIS guys came to pollute your planet or take its resources!" or simply blow it up. Then again, I have a feeling the clone wars show was outright Republic propaganda and the original Clone Wars cartoon was the truth =P
  24. Cubanboy you always bring a light to this girls heart each week, keep doing what you do! I collect them all currently. I am spiritually with the Rebellion and I try to make it work but I have always had a knack for piloting the empire. As for scum, while I own all the ships I havent quite "got" how to play them correctly. I guess Im just a by the rules kind of gal (hence the proficiency with Empire). As for Resistance and FO, I've always done really well with First Order and the Resistance (I was one of the early adopters of the 4T70 list with R2 and Integrated Astro, not the best list but tanky as heck). Format wise we just play games among friends so I have no opinion otherwise. As for the new stuff coming...im not a giant fan of The Clone Wars but I love the aesthetic and story of the Republic so I will lightly dabble in that faction. Never could get into the CIS, their motivations always seemed......bizarre and often illogical even for mustache twirling villains.
  25. Im going to agree with you 100%. If they were meddling in the game we would have seen far more drastic things, like Rey and Kylo being ridiculous out of the box in 1.0, instead they were lukewarm at best. I think the most meddling that Disney does in Xwing would be along the lines of "hey, we have this rebels show, and they have this funky fun painted Tie Fighter, make a it a good guy model with the characters, I could care less how it plays" None of the marketing types or decision maker people have any clue how to play these games and they dont care. They see sales and marketing, building brands, and expanding market shares. They could care less about how Xwing works as long as it makes money and dosen't violate any major principles/bad press (like the micro transaction thing, or how Wendig got booted from comics). Also even if Disney WAS telling to do stuff it would also depend on how their contracts are lined up. If the contract simply says "make star wars stuff, send us X dollars a year" FFG could pretty much do what it wants. Now back to the nitty gritty! Im really glad they made stuff like primed thrusters and ferrosphere paint reasonably priced. I want upgrades to be a choice, not something you are forced to do no matter what (like autothrusters).
