To weigh in on the canon debate:

From what i understand, according to Lucasfilm's statement, the old EU is no longer canon. However, it's not forbidden for creators to draw from it in creating new stories, or updating old ones. Legends material is not "canon until stated otherwise", it's "non-canon until it's potentially brought into canon." Every new book, comic, TV series, film etc released after that point is canon. And is at the same level of canon as all other material, it can't be written out of existence.

The old canon material had the state of "Canon until it's contradicted," and new sources overwrote older ones.

That's not what that quote says at all - I'll redo it with emphasis on the important bits

"Page quote: On April 25, 2014, Lucasfilm Ltd. announced that in preparation for the upcoming sequel trilogy, the Expanded Universe would not appear in any future Star Wars materials; past tales of the Expanded Universe will be printed under the Star Wars Legends banner, and a new continuity has been established that consists only of the original six films, the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series and film, and all future material from that point onward. Though past elements of the Expanded Universe have been declared non-canon as a whole, they remain a resource for future Star Wars material to reference elements of the EU, thus bringing these elements into the new continuity as canon.[1][2]"

I think, properly interpreted - this quote says - "EU is non canon as a whole but we aren't burning the books and declaring everything off limits in the new canon. We can mine the EU for ideas and characters but are not beholden to anything in them. Thrawn could be in Aftermath. And he could be orange and that would be the new reality regardless of what came before."   (shrug)

It's thematic, like R2 taking the hit from Vader, not sure if it'll make me use T-65s more often just yet though, need to try it out.

It's certainly interesting and situational. I like interesting and situational.

I've been reading EU material since I was around ten, with a bookshelf almsot full of about 50 or so of the books I've collected over the years. I've spent hours pring over wookieepedia, old sourcebooks such as vehicle and weapon guides, and the old comics, games etc.

I for one wholeheartedly welcome the new canon. Everything I've read of it (that being all the current comics, the novels Tarkin, Heir to the Jedi, A New Dawn and Dark Disciple) as well as Rebels and The Clone Wars just feel like Star Wars, much more so than the majority of the old canon. And I say that as one of the few people who actually liked the New Jedi Order series.
Plus, the new canon has already been bringing in elements from Legends, such as certain vehicles, the Inquisitors, the Black Sun crime syndicate, even the Cloakshape fighter. It's not like that stuff is banned forever, and I still see books on shelves from those days with the "Legends" banner now added to them.

Then there's the fact that now I don't need to worry about whatever new material I'm viewing being on a lower tier of canon, ready to be overwritten at a moment's notice by something higher-up in the canon tiers. Now there's just one canon, theoretically more consistent and coherent, and with the understanding that this is always intended to be canon, it was never considered second-fiddle to, say, the movies.

And I'm looking forward to seeing The Force Awakens without knowing the full 30+years of history beforehand, so there will surely be less "superweapon of the week from some rogue Imperial Remnant commander" baggage.

Yup, it's expicitly mentioned in the FAQ. The only difference between a primary firing arc and an auxiliary is that you can't shoot a secondary weapon out of an auxiliary. So if you were wondering, autothrusters and Backstabber don't trigger there either.

What the **** IS it this week with people taking single words I'm not directing at them out of context as a personal attack? "It's a fool's errand to compare Star Wars with reality", followed by ME COMPARING STAR WARS TO REALITY might indicate that I don't think YOU are being a fool.
And it's not a question of points balance, it's a question of game style. Two sides with perfectly balanced, equally effective alpha strikes would still make for a boring match that hinged on which side had the PS advantage/rolled better for its first round of shooting.

I would say you where correct. SLAM says nothing about your "selected" or "assigned" maneuver for the turn, only what maneuver you "executed".
The ion rules don't actualy tell you to "Execute" a maneuver, but they tell you to "move" the ship as if assigned a specifik maneuver, then the go on to state "After executing this maneuver..." strongly implying that "moving your ship" indeed is considered "executing" a maneuver.

Hylian100 got a reaction from Sunitsa in Post-Wave 7 FAQ - What are you looking for?
Clarification on whether SLAM is meant to count the "choosing and executing" as "revealing" a maneuver for the purposes of bomb wordings. And whether it includes the "Check Pilot Stress" step, though that only comes into play with crits, as the K-Wing has no reds.

Conner Net clarification, as everyone else has said.

And a simple yes/no to whether Bossk crew works when already stressed. I'd argue yes, but it'd be nice to have some official backing. Same with SLAM, official clarification is always nice.

So what he is he supposed to do? Throw the game by walking into his opponent's guns? He was trying to lure the opponent into breaking formation, not frustrate him into conceding. Why is the opponent not in trouble for refusing to break formation and let the arc-dodger come to him? He was just as much at "fault" (if there was fault to be laid, which there is not).

Just because your opponent doesn't want to give you a free win does not make him a bad sportsman.

"Fly Casual" does not, never has, and never will mean "Fly in such a way that you hand over the game to the opponent." The arc-dodger played to his squad's strengths and refused to walk into his opponent's strengths. The opponent did the exact same thing in reverse. They are both just as much "at fault" for the game dragging on in such a manner, but in reality neither did anything wrong. Sometimes games like that happen.
