  1.

I know a lot ppl that loved Star Trek until that point.

I love Star Trek, I continue to love Star Trek. I am also able to separate the JJ movies from DS9 or TNG or TOS, and appreciate them for what they are, and not compare them to the other movies or TV shows.

Saying that JJ ruined Trek, is like saying the EU ruined Star Wars... The old trek is still there and hasn't gone anywhere.

The actual acting is over-acting most of the time and absolutely not Star Trek.

This pretty much invalidates every argument you can make about Star Trek... To try and actually claim that it's not Star Trek because of over acting? Have you ever watched Star Trek?

    This.

And every problem can be solved with the main deflector dish...

The JJ Star Trek actually makes it watchable to people that don't have a huge interest in Star Trek, and that's a lot healthier for a franchise than catering to a few fanboys.

  2. How many different new ships will we see from the new movies? Episode 3 gave us the base for the game; x-wing, y-wing, falcon, tie, advanced, outrider (special edition), star destroyer, blockade runner. Approximately 7-8 ships depending on your point of view.

Empire: tie-interceptor(or Jedi), tie-bomber, imp shuttle, slave 1, all the rebel fleet filler

Jedi: a-wing, b-wing, tie-interceptor, super star destroyer, imp and rebel fleet fillers.

Episode 7 has shown so far tie-fo, tie-special forces, new shuttle, imperial transport, t-70, new dish falcon and new star destroyer. Where are the rest of the new ships?

Yes the rebel alliance was using some very old ships the y-wing being a clone wars Era ship, but where is it now? Every movie usually gave a more balanced base for each faction except Empire which was showing the Empire's might.

So just how many ships can we hope for? I still have hope for an updated y-wing or a new mid bomber, a filler scum fighter, scum freighter(Falcon isn't the only one in the galaxy), new/updated bounty hunters.

Revising your OT ships, TESB SE had the Lambda, but it also had the TIE shuttle which isn't in the game (yet). Executor class star dreadnaught (SSD was the old, erroneous designation) was in Empire as well. And you forgot to mention the space blimp rebel transports! The worst omition is that there is no Space Slug in the game, or mynocks. We got big rocks, so why can't we have a special rule that if you are overlapping a rock in the end phase you roll a red die: critical is attack by space slug, no maneuver or attack next round, roll again in the end phase; hit is mynocks attach to power cables, att and Agi are -1; focus gets rid of mynocks or slug. I'm sure someone (anyone) else can think up better rules for this, though.

Wouldn't y'all love to see mynock and slug tokens!?

Space slugs and mynocks would be awesome!

Personally I'm a little dissapointed Ep VII is just giving minor updates to the X-wing and TIE fighter.  Are we to believe star fighter technology stood still in the 30 years between Ep VI and Ep VII?

Sooo...pretty much how normal military development goes. Design, test, build, upgrade for the 40 years.

I'm glad it's updates to iconic ships and not more EU crap. Good the terrible XWING variants....

  3. This is what I have been looking at. Latts can maintain 2 locks, and can even change them around when Bossk triggers. Crack Shot and Glitterstim combined with a Target Lock from TBC and the Black Sun Ace should be enough to put serious hurt out quickly and reliably. Downsides, no positioning after movement.

Latts Razzi [bossk, Weapons Engineer , Gunner] (43)

Talonbane Cobra [Crack Shot, Glitterstim] (31)

Black Sun Ace [Crack Shot, Glitterstim] (26)

  4. 1x Ghost
    2x Mist Hunter

    2x T-70

Those are my most likely purchases. I enjoy watching Rebels with my daughter, so Ghost is going to happen just for that. I main Scum, Mist Hunter looks fun, and turret ships are for people to lazy to actually fly, so I'm skipping Dengar's flying toilet seat.

T-70's just for pilots and cards, also Epic games since I already have 3.

  5.

I'm not against discard abilities, but I pretty much never use them.  A one-time attempt to set up something nice that can fail spectacularly based on a bad dice roll is usually not worth it to me.  I would be more likely to use a reactionary discard like Determination, especially if it's one point.  At least then the ability is guaranteed to work as long as its trigger occurs, but even then it's a gamble.

It's just personal preference, but I find there is enough point gambling with pilot skill and initiative, and I would rather spend the points on more reliable upgrades.

It's funny, most people would probably agree with you when it comes to missiles and torpedoes.  I wonder what makes these one-use elite upgrades more attractive.

They typically cost 1pt. For something that can be game changing when used in the right place, like Lightning Reflexes or Crack Shot that is a fantastic deal.

  6.

Why would anyone want a title that turns a T-65 into a T-70 (in preference to a different T-65 fix)? Yay, let's turn these two not-especially-great ships into one not-especially-great ship!

    Dream bigger, you know?

I dunno I think the T-70 is just fine stat and point wise. It's ability to stay alive is on par with the B. I haven't crunched the numbers but its 2 HP vs 1 Evade die, that should be about a wash mathematically. Its more maneuverable and has different upgrades. So I think the T-70 and B work perfectly well together. Even with the additional 2 points of the 70

Don't worry. Major Juggler's got you covered.

    Some efficiency numbers.

    ----------------------------------------- Old vs new -----------------------------------

                                    Cost          |      | PS1 Jousting Efficiency  | req

    Ship name                actual|predict| PS1  |  JV  | std    |     range       | eff

    PS2 T-65 X-wing             21 | 18.6  | 20.2 | 18.1 | 89.7%  | 87.6% -  91.5%  | 131.2%

    PS2 T-70 X-wing             24 | TBD   | 23   | 19.9 | 86.2%  | 84.3% -  87.8%  | 140.8%

    PS2 B-wing                  22 | 21.1  | 21.1 | 19.6 | 92.7% | 90% - 94.9%  | 123.5%

So yeah. The T-70's a less efficient jouster than the T-65. And both are worse than the B-Wing. The T-70's Talon Roll and swapping the System upgrade and barrel roll for Tech, Astromech and boost has to be worth another 8% in efficiency, which is in no way a sure thing.

The generic T-70 is... Ok? My main point though is why people want to turn the T-65 into it. Why lose a ship to make it into a copy of another ship? That makes no sense to me.

    Agree.

We already have the T-70, why would we want the T-65 to become a T-70...

  7. Requires multiple X-Wings, removes variations in squads.

It really depends on what role the X-Wing is fit intoPersonally I would like it to be a real multi-role ship.

    T-65A

    Rebel Alliance, X-Wing only

    title, 0pt

-2 squad point cost on equipped Ordnance, -1 squad point cost on equipped Astromechs, EPT, and Modifications.

Just an idea, it makes them a lot more interesting. The downside, it has costs inherent to it, have to use all the stuff. Upside, it helps across the board without stepping on toes and encourages using all the stuff.

Could run Luke w/ Lone Wolf, R2-D2, Proton Torp, Engine Upgrade for 37pts.

  8. best I can think of for Blue Ace is int agent, but no crew for him so you'll have to build around that

he's in a VERY weird place, but let's not forget that a hard boost can also be hilariously crazy. **** thing just screams shenanigans :P

28 (ept) points up from Red's 26 and no astro slot are a bit of a deal killer

still, keep an eye on him. We havn't even touched the surface of the tech upgrade slot yet; we've just been staring at it with only WG to go on. With good enough tech  + thrusters, he won't need an EPT

He does have some crazy options available with BB-8. Hopefully some new Tech will help out. I was considering maybe trying it with R7-T1, it could be interesting as well...

  9. I'm thinking of giving this a go.

    Poe w/ VI, AT, R5-P9

2x Red Squad Vet w/ VI, Weapons Guidance, AT

I might change out VI on the reds for Lightning Reflexes or Crackshot depending on what the meta looks like. I've been seeing a lot more mid range PS lately though so VI could still be useful especially with boost.

I agree though, I don't see any reason to take "Blue Ace" without and EPT. And giving him one with a droid is just too expensive.

  10. Could be something as simple as a Torpedo slot modification.

0pt: X-Wing Only, Reduce the squad point cost of any equipped Astromech by 2 points to a minimum of 0, gain 1 shield.

Removes the stupid torp slot nobody uses, and makes the X-Wing a decent ship without throwing it into the boosting/barrel rolling arc dodger territory it doesn't belong in.

  11. Looking at something like this (yea, I know TBC is probably not optimal in a meta with secondary weapons)

    ============== Black Sun Aces ==============

    100 points

    Pilots ------

Guri [Outmaneuver, Virago, Autothrusters, Advanced Sensors, Inertial Dampeners] (40)

    Talonbane Cobra [Predator, Glitterstim] (33)

    Graz the Hunter [Glitterstim] (27)

Dropping Inertial Dampeners for a 99pt bid might be worthwhile, the basic idea is to get in close and murder things.

The other option I'm looking at is dropping Guri for,

Trandoshan Slaver [bossk, Gunner, Tactician, Ion Projector] (40)

This is stronger control, and gives more HP but reduces maneuvering a lot. Basically ram him into the front of another large ship and sit there, or block up a swarms movement.

    Thoughts? Criticism? Concerns?

  12. The K-Wing is the only ship I personally found interesting of this wave.

The Interdictor is disappointing enough that I'll be ducking out of X-Wing until the next wave (or Ep7 shows up). This will be the second wave FFG is putting out where it's dominated by scum, and if we Empire fans are only getting one shot per wave I'll be waiting longer for my long-desired Gunboat and TIE Avenger to show up. Which means I can leave X-Wing for Armada for a time and check back in half a year.

I mean, if the Interdictor is what we got, my skeptical senses tell me the Oppressor could be the next ship and that's a major turnoff design if I've ever seen one. The Aggressor wouldn't be much better (Almost worse in fact, since it's just an Advanced with a turret slot).

I'm really happy to get some unique Scum ships in, the new fighter and Hound's Tooth look fantastic, will definitely buy 3-4 blisters of the fighter. Other than that, not sure why you would stop playing a game simply because you don't like some of the ships. I can only hope they add them to Armada as well, so I can have them do battle in both scales.

  13.

That stupid ass K-wing. They just made my decision to get Armada pretty easy. I might be done buying new X-wing stuff.

I understand several people do not like the aesthetics of the K-Wing, but for a super-bomber, it sure does look the part.

I just don't get the crying over how a ship looks.

Decimator is stupid looking with it's nonsensical skylight dome and strange bridge/cockpit layouts. Not to mention it's horrid turret placement....YT-2400 doesn't even pretend to make sense, and looks no better than the K-Wing.

You may like some ships, you may not like some ships. Luckily, you don't have to buy them if you don't want to.

  14.

Interdictor, still not as bad as the K-Wing...

This. KTHXBAI FFG. Good way to ruin a good game.

    Heh - true.

"Man, what have we done with this godawful TIE?  It's going to be the mockery of the wave, unless...WAIT!  I'VE GOT AN IDEA!  Let's put out something even uglier for the Rebels!  Yeah, that's the ticket..."

Man, this wave just makes me...sad.

Meh, who cares. Some people like the way things look. I like the new TIE just fine, looks like a bomber. K-Wing is just odd, too smooth, and yet clunky. Not my style.

The Hound's Tooth and Kihrazx look fantastic, and are definite buys.
