The new and improved Ardus is nearly finished. I still want to pluck out some of the grass as IMO I went too heavy with the flocking.
Afterwards I'll  do a green glow where the two skellies are crawling out of the ground.

Personally template movement is one of the best things in this game.  I think it does add a level of strategy.

Legit not being a **** here, but have you played any games? On paper your objections make sense, but in motion I've had VERY little issue with the templates. They have their foibles, such as the far side of a unit swinging out during a turn and navigating between terrain being tricky, but they're very quick, very clear, and interact nicely with the pre-planned actions.

    Hey Guys,
my first unit is completely painted. The basing is missing. I'm not sure how to base them yet. But what I know is, I need more bits So they will get the basing later. What I recognize on the picture on the screen is, I washed the first tray which i finished (front left) the other I didn't. So I will have to Wash them too. The ice blue markers for firing arc came later so you will see color differences around that area on the first tray. Also the mat spray and some blood is missing which will be the last doing. My Waiqar will get an icy theme like my Necrons before.
I apologize for the suboptimal picture. I will do later better pictures in my photo cube, when the whole work is done.
All Waiqar Pictures on my Google Photos.
    My first Reanimates

Now the first Archers are ready:

So my Waiqar Core is almost painted. The Archers are now ready. You may notice the change in base color, this is due to the lack of basing spray in rhinox hide. so i switched to the darkes brown army painter offers as spray. easier to get the trays colored. And this is my first try of bowstrings.

Is this a troll comment or did I miss something? I'm not aware of anything wrong with the movement system. Sure, there are weird situations where units pass right by each other, but the alternative is to have perfect reactions to what your opponent's units are doing. I'd rather have a few stray charges than give up simultaneously-planned movement.

While correct information was indeed given on #1, sometimes reinforcement is needed.
The answer to your first question is indeed the red position, not because he cannot square up.   The relevant bit would be RR 55.3, 2nd bullet point:  "If the unit would overlap no more than a single tray of an allied unit during a move and does not overlap any part of that allied unit at the end of the move, that allied unit is not treated as an obstacle and does not cause a collision. To complete this movement, the unit may need to be picked up and moved over the allied unit.?" (emphasis mine)
But isn't squaring up part of the move?  No, it is not.  When a unit's travel along a movement template is curtailed by an obstacle, a collision occurs.  Collisions, by definition (RR 18, first paragraph), happen after a move.  Squaring up is a result of a collision (RR 18.1), and therefor happens after the move.  Hawthorns final position at the end of the move has him overlapping the allied spearmen unit.

As an interesting aside, I noticed in reading through RR 77 Squaring Up again that at no point is the re-positioning of the unit squaring up referred to with the word move or any congregate there of.  The unit is sliding or pivoting, but not moving.

But, @Glucose98 said it much more succinctly than I did just as I was about to hit post.

No. Only if the command tool is revealed (means the unit was activated before).

People forget this because most of them didn't hear about xwing until a ways into it's life. I started playing right before wave three dropped which was a full year after the game came out. At that time there was only one store that ran weekly tournaments in the entire metro, a year later there was a tournament every night of the week. It takes time.

This is part of how we are feeling in our group.
We have about 8 of us in our community who intend to play - hopefully more once elves are out and we start doing a few events. As we talk about the game - we just think "Hey - it's awesome, it fun and quick to play - I can't wait to start playing until the Spring!"
Only a couple of us have bought in at this point - because we wanted the humans and the undead... the elves and Uthuk players are obviously anxiously awaiting the next several months to get their armies - but we aren't pushing anything until after they are all setup and really ready to roll with their armies.
So for now - as an undead player - I just have ALL the time in the world to paint my minis - get a game in now and again and make terrain etc.
6-8 months from now - when we can all play - it'll be great!

Getting started painting 2 boxed sets.  My younger sons (12 & 9) have decided to have a go at some of the models too.
First up are my first unit of reanimate archers, the boys gravitated to the big models, so these are all my work.  Stuck with the "traditional" purple for this unit.

Phew, it's been a while - first I only painted more of the same (Oathsworn and reanimate archers), and the I didn't get around to do much painting for a couple weeks. But now I've managed to complete my Ankaur Maro. Evil surfer dude, surfing his wave of bone. He just had to get a fuligin cloak and despite black being a pain to paint, I'm quite happy with the outcome.

And we finished Hawthorne today.  I feel the Runewars miniatures are deceptive, they have just enough detail to allow you to hang yourself. I may have spent a bit much time on Hawthorne.  Also, contest still on, what's the joke? (there's a joke on this one, for those savvy enough to find it).  I need to go paint a Quasar now so Armada doesn't get jealous.

So we're done here, not entirely sure I'm happy with the base, there is an area at the front reserved for a wildflower tuft when I buy some.
The Amethyst Golem (or purple crystal, whatever).  I added some salt for undead players

Who can give me a suggestion to make that fire not suck?

These guys are magnetised. That's why they are a bit higher than the tray. The tray is just easy based because they are better for transport this way. stones, skulls or other could gone lost at those.
