  1.

I really should watch the holiday special someday. Those pictures make it look as bad than it sounds.

Here let me save you some pain and suffering. You get to know everything that happens cut up in to nice size bites and coated with sarcastic sugar so it is slightly easier to swallow (only slightly though, oh and mature language).

You will never want to watch it after seeing this but know everything there is to know about it.

It has now become my mission to find an actual copy of this just so I can have it to show how bad it could really be...

  2. The build I'm using now that I have the 2400 is:

    Leebo: Determination, Chewie, Outrider, HLC

Keyan: Stay on Target, Adv. Sensors

    Proto Pilot (A): Chardaan Refit

    Yet Another Squad Builder:

    http://geordanr.github.io/xwing/?f=Rebel%20Alliance&d=v3!s!94:8,23,-1,33:14:-1:;88:96,43,-1,-1,-1:-1:-1:;32:72:-1:-1:

I have had some good luck with it, the A-wing gets to be in their way, and I didn't want a 2 ship rebel list.

Keyan is awesome with Stay and Adv, and 2400 is 2400... I have had a lot of fun flying this list

  3. I, for one, am glad to see an effort from FFG. They have been awesome in looking to see where there are issues in the game and fixing them (gameplay). With the FAQ's, New Cards (Refit, AutoThrusters, Etc..)

I look forward to it becoming a bit more of a level playing field with the new faction and cards along with it. Turrets dominate my Meta, and I enjoy flying Arc-Dodgers. I can't wait to get into S&V just to modify my Imp flights! The new stuff, IMO, doesn't break Arc-Dodgers, but it does, as Paul Heaver said and multiple others have quoted, bring it back to its roots, and also level the field and make it more of a three way TIE ( :P ) back on the field.

  4. Yes, because FFG has complete control over the dock workers.

The announcements aren't that bad in terms of spoilers. They actually don't tend to do the actual spoiler articles till much closer to release. It just happens the "on the boat" status is where uncontrolled delays can happen. The Wave 5 situation isn't the standard.

It seems the norm to me, but I have only been into the game since Imperial Aces came out...

  5.

So what would you do when the pre-orders went up at the same time we got announcements? Get just as impatient about not knowing what the ship does. I prefer this way, because this way I can sort of plan ahead of time. Should they have not also given out the Firespray and Falcons to the 2012 Worlds finalists, because that spoiled those two ships completely a good 6 months in advance. Vs the complete spoilers of Wave 5 that came out 4 months.

I personally Enjoy the idea of not knowing what it will be other than the actual ship. I can understand wanting to be able to prepare, and people will always complain given the chance, but this is a touch on the ridiculous side. Now that the game is getting well established, the kinks should be getting ironed out more than they have been. I like that they give dibs to finalists and such, but again, the lead time is far too excessive for the actual release. I don't really mind the spoilers, just the 6 month ahead spoilers...

FFG is awesome when it comes to listening to the community and fixing errors or oversights on ship mechanics, why not on this type of stuff too?

  6.

Look, they have said that once it gets to shipping across the ocean, it is kind of out of their hands. They did not intend for Wave 5 to be so late, but there is nothing they can do with the port slowdowns.

I know it is and isn't their fault, but still, Rant Rant Rant! :P

There are things they could do to prevent such a long lead...

And yet, they wouldn't have to worry about things out of their control if they would simply stop announcing and spoiling things 6 months before there is even a chance of getting it.  Pretty easy solution.

Somewhere out in the Pacific there is an island that has all of our wave 5... They can only play with wave 5! Oh, I can't bear to watch!   :P

"Were gonna need a bigger boat"

I mean... We're gonna need a lot more boats....

    Easy Answer,

Ties. Lots and lots of Ties. Throw them all at it. Literally.  :)

Ya, I agree but isn't that getting old?  What will be the new imperial assault LOL? What can FFG do in Wave 7 to address this issue?

Old, yes. I won't fly swarm (personal high-horse) :P I'd rather lose with something I made than win with a cookie cutter swarm.

As far as what they could do? I don't have the slightest idea. My creative muses aren't cooperating today. Numbers or big ships vs big ships has always been the answer.

Short of making Bomber and Advanced better points wise, then at least we have an HP Match,

  8. To add to my comment on Wave 5....if I wanted a game that put waves out every other month without the time to properly playtest the materials contained within, I'd be playing Star Trek Attack Wing. I actually do not mind FFG taking their time between waves as it gives them the time to catch and correct any errors they might find and make sure the product is the best they can release.

I can agree with that, but in reference to my rant, they shouldn't selectively release it then have such a long lead time for the actual release. I like the time they give, but their methods could definitely use some tweaking.

  9. "Were gonna need a bigger boat"

I mean... We're gonna need a lot more teeny, tiny, spitball shooting boats....

    Easy Answer,

Ties. Lots and lots of Ties. Throw them all at it. Literally. :)

  10.

Wave 7 announcement after Christmas, maybe the first week of January.  But how are these ships going to stem the tide of turrets?  Something has to address this.

I agree. I enjoy flying Imperial, but with turrets so heavily played, it makes them more unforgiving than riding a Krayt Dragon by his pearls.

  11.

Wave 7? Hell, I just want Wave 5....not going to even think past S&V right now.

    I agree with this statement

Yes. FIrst things first I want my Decimator and Outrider! Screw wave 6 AND 7...

Not really, but the huge amount of time between Gencon and public release is really maddening. I want the ships I have to fly against! My meta is full of wave 5, so I fly against them all the time, but I want to fly with them from my collection. I'm fine with exclusives if you spend extra money to go to Cons, but why make those that didn't wait 6 months? (if that number is right, it feels like it's been that long.) On the boat BS... if they had it at Gencon there is no excuse.

    Rant over... Sorry Guys :)

A brand new wave is being released next week, and I almost forgot it was happening. This is the first time a new Wave comes out where I am not dying of anticipation. I'm excited don't get me wrong, but we have had it spoiled for so long now, and honestly I'm more excited about Wave 6. I too hope releases and announcements slow down a tad. Let us get our hands on the new stuff, play around with it for a couple of months, THEN drop the next bomb of excitement on us.

This is PRECISELY why I have advocated strongly for FFG to stop all of the spoiling.  I would rather just get a few hints, a release date, and then BAM !!! The new product in all its glory, which would allow me to obsess over it for hours on end, getting no sleep, not eating, etc.  Just like XMas.

Now, with everything spoiled **** near a half year in advance, by the time I get it, everything seems dull, drab, uneventful, not exciting - just like ugly sweater/tie number 4,655.

I do agree that releases shouldn't be so often, nor should they have so many spoilers beforehand. Let us figure it out after the release, not before.

  12. Thanks for the input!

Personally, As I said, I love Buzz whisper, but am looking for something a bit different to try. I think with Adv Sensors you get a better reactionary ship. You don't have to anticipate quite as much when going against another ship, and get to react. In my experiences, being able to react is sometimes better than guessing where they will end up. Not every anticipation is going to be right.

Plus, you get the unpredictability of having barrel roll first.

I tried thinking out of the norm for the use of Adv Sensors, I don't think I have ever K-turned my phantom.

I understand the idea of giving something else up (Gunner, Rebel Captive, FCS, Etc) but I gain reaction for arc-dodge instead of gaining insurance for when I get shot.

I haven't flown it yet, but my build for her is:

    Whisper (32)

    Advanced Cloaking Device (4)

    Veteran Instincts (1)

    Advanced Sensors (3)

    Bringing her in at 40

  13. I'm not sure if this has been discussed here, so my apologies if it has.

What are the implications of putting Adv Sensors on a Phantom?

I was thinking about it and I like Buzzing Whisper. But, with Adv., much more unpredictability on final position, and therefore more arc dodge capability.

    Thoughts?

  14. I enjoy using rocks when playing 1v1, I do also get bored with the lack of options. different rocks would make for more varied flying.

I almost always fly with rocks on the field, it makes it more challenging for planning and for flight.

The few times I don't are when teaching someone the very basics (first game) then their second game I introduce rocks. Also, when I'm playing a three-for-all or some other more than 2 player game we all agree whether to use them or not. Depends on the multiplayer game, but even then, mostly rocks abound.

I hope they make some variants in the future that can be tourney legal, it would make for much different gameplay. I.E. Ion Clouds, fly through get an ion token, etc.

  15.

Sensor Jammer did work almost every time it got shot at.  The problem was that every single time that Sensor Jammer triggered, the attacking ship had a focus.  So...it did in fact work the way it was supposed to, it just didn't negate any shots

Carnor Jax may be your answer. Here's one I've been wanting to run, but I have never flown a phantom.

"Echo" (Sensor Jammer, Rebel Captive, Veteran Instincts, Advanced Cloaking Device)

Carnor Jax (Push the Limit, Shield Upgrade)

    Academy Pilot

    Academy Pilot

Carnor Jax will do a pretty good job preventing those focus tokens. I was able to destroy an Etahn A'baht swarm with Soontir, Carnor and Kagi by getting Carnor Jax behind them and just laying into them while Soontir and Kagi performed a frontal assault.

I like Carnor with Whisper, But I fly a Doom Shuttle Instead of 2 Ties. More HP and, if you fly them right, works really well.

  16. At the rate FFG is going, it could be Christmas before it even releases. Stupid-upside-down-back-stroking-the-wrong-way boat... Maybe It was also abducted by the Yuuzhan Vong... XD

That being said, the answer depends on what you enjoy flying. In my local meta I have flown against both and I think they are equally powerful in the right hands. I enjoy the look and abilities of the Decimator, but the Outrider is much more maneuverable.

If you plan on flying Imps more often than Rebels or vice versa, your answer is almost too easy. Since you plan to buy both, get the one you will fly more often first, then get the other.

  17.

I am now determined to win a tournament with this after reading: http://geordanr.github.io/xwing/?f=Rebel%20Alliance&d=v3!s!88:49,36,23,-1,-1:-1:11:U.31;89:19,43,22,34,34:-1:11:U.38

Might as well go dumb as possible

Keyan is the highest skill pilot here, so having Opportunist on him is almost useless. It's rare that the majority of your opponent's ships are going to be tokenless at the start of the round (and you really want to not lynch yourself into shooting a specific ship just to make use of it).

Maybe with a different list, Keyan would have more promise with Opportunist. If you run him in formation with a couple other higher or same PS it would make more sense.
