This seems fun to. I dont know what the power level is of all this stuff. But it sure is fun.

    Luke Skywalker — T-65 X-Wing 62
    Supernatural Reflexes 24
    Proton Torpedoes 12
    Servomotor S-Foils 0
    Ship Total: 98
    Half Points: 49 Threshold: 3

    Braylen Stramm — A/SF-01 B-Wing 47
    Heavy Laser Cannon 4
    Ship Total: 51
    Half Points: 26 Threshold: 4

    Ten Numb — A/SF-01 B-Wing 46
    Heavy Laser Cannon 4
    Ship Total: 50
    Half Points: 25 Threshold: 4

If you strip this down (every upgrade comes off), you can get a U wing with Leia crew as well.

Those B wings punch hard, and the extra shot from the U wing makes up for losing the torp. I've been wrecked by this squad a couple of times.

So do you drop it for one turn right when they are about to forge and pop it the next turn?

Yeah, that's essentially it. If your opponent has little or no Aember control available, it's pretty common to have two turns in a row that you can forge a key.

  3. What are some cards that don't really get the recognition they deserve?

My favourite under-rated card right now is The Sting. I've seen people talk about how terrible it is, but it has won me far more games than I initially thought it would have. The first couple of games that I used it, I didn't quite understand the careful timing that it required, but once I figured out a strategy to make it work in my deck, it was a revelation.

What cards do you think deserve a second look?

FCS seems pretty bad in 2.0, but people still take it fairly often: why? Just holdover from 1.0?

Probably. It was stapled onto so many ships in 1.0, and it's still cheap enough that most people don't actually think about it. I've heard people call it essentially 1.0 predator, but it's not. It's 1.0 predator that costs an action probably half the time.

    6s?

Kylo can shoot at 7, if he wants.

First, joust and take a hit from Poe.

Next, flip and torp him at 7 and hand him his happy 2 stress from ISYTDS he got last round.

Heightened perception Kylo is a dead Kylo.

I cringe a little bit every time I see this upgrade.

Lol, you think the Krayts (whom I've never even listened to) came up with that quote about antecdotes?

How can the frequency of a problem not be relevant to the discussion of a problem? How often do you encounter these 15 bids you're complaining about?

We're about to see lots of them. And deeper than 15 points.

The plural of anecdote is not data. The median bid for I5 lists making top tables at major tourneys is 2pts for scum and 3pts for Imperial. Source
    Hardly cause for concern.

And quoting a median value, when we are obviously discussing the unintended consequences of deep point bids has zero relevance to this conversation. I'm not discussing what the average player does. I thought that was clear.

Also, I get that people love to reuse quotes from the Krayts, because it makes them feel like part of the club. But I've seen the data too. I'm not really sure what you're getting at.

So did you have fun doing that all day??

That doesn't really matter, but I actually did. Every game was close (except when Paul Johnson trounced me!), and there was a heavy burden of execution on me to get a lead. If I made one mistake in the early game, I lost, so there were interesting and meaningful decisions for me to make, until I got ahead on points. Then it became auto pilot.

I would suggest a compromise where the bid points could be added when a ship is destroyed or 2 ships are at half points.  This stops the points fortress but retains the aspect of the points being earned by the opponent.

One small change could be to not give these points until a certain condition is met,  for example until some points are scored to keep the possibility of a 200-0.

These are great ideas! Even if you have to completely destroy one ship in order to get the bid points as well. That seems reasonable to me.

Here's a hard counter. Target Kylo. Chase him down trap him and remove the 82-100 point fortress off the table (same goes for “insert pilot” that your opponent plays) then you effectively no longer have to worry about your initiative bid that hand strung you at the beginning of the match.

More like 130ish, but the specifics don't matter.

Yes, of course there is a way to win against it. I never claimed otherwise. Kylo will die if you get multiple arcs on him a few times, but that's far easier said than done. You NEED at least one of the following to realistically pull it off:

    - 5+ships (almost no one does this)

    - a larger bid with I5 (this is probably Kylo as well, and we now have the same problem)

    - I6

    - Kylo player is bad
