Honestly, the more I think about Weiss with Field Commander the more I think it's a great idea. Even at one point, I don't think anyone will seriously take him in his current state over Arbmab for 5 or the Hammer Pilot for 10. But even if he were indeed 5 with Field Commander, there would be those corner cases where someone wanted to take an AT-ST or Occupier as a generic commander. I don't think it would be completely competitive necessarily, but it would definitely be interesting enough that people would take it.

Actually I think that would have been a great idea, especially for Weiss. Instead of dropping him to 1 point, maybe 5 points with Field Commander.

As a primarily CIS player who also plays Empire on occasion, here are my thoughts: I like Stormtroopers. Shoretroopers are definitely stronger, but Stormtroopers were already cheaper, and most of their heavies just got their cost reduced, whereas Shoretroopers' T-21B and the Mortar just got more expensive. I think we will start to see Stormtroopers a lot more. The change to compulsory moves means all Speeders are generally better, and Speeder Bikes were already...not the worst Speeders. And they definitely perform better as a pair than as a single unit. Droidekas have always been decent, they were just kind of expensive. Now that they 20% cheaper, I think people will start to field them much more. I have fielded 2 of them many times. I haven't gotten to use STAPs yet, so it will probably be a while before I field Droidekas again regardless, but they are definitely much more competitive now.

Also, random thought that just occurred to me: while it is now technically possible to build a CIS or GAR list with just a Field Commander and no actual Commander, one will still need to include at least an Operative just to have enough command cards, at least until we get the Specialists packs.

So if I recall correctly, either Alex or Luke stated in an interview that the T-Series commander and the generic Clone commander would have the same keywords. We have three new keywords in the RRG (Bolster, Direct, and Contingencies), and it seems incredibly likely that at least some of those are going to end up on these commanders. With that in mind, is there a situation where Direct isn't insanely good in a CIS list? And if the T-Series isn't getting that keyword, what could it be on? Is there a possibility for it to be for Lando or Kallus? Because to me they seem too far off to have keywords already appearing in the RRG.

Trooper upgrades are no longer proportional to the base unit in cost. For example, B1s are still 36, but the extra trooper is only 5.

Compulsory moves can happen at the beginning or end of Speeders' activations.

Star Wars Miniatures moving to Atomic Mass Games
Lochlan replied to Kirjath08's topic in Star Wars: Legion
To be fair, FFG makes dozens of games. And if something was not as popular as it needed to be to warrant supporting it, it got dropped. AMG, on the other hand, makes (well, prior to this week) exactly one game. -
Which Expansions are Worth Having as Two Sets?
Lochlan replied to robertpolson's topic in Star Wars: Legion
Commandos are definitely worth having two, just for the Strike Teams if nothing else. However, as was pointed out, there is a big points update coming soon (maybe this week), which will likely have an impact on all three of those units. -
BX Sniper Commandos - Offensive Push or Hunter?
Lochlan replied to Mace Windu's topic in Star Wars: Legion
To be clear, people are specifically talking about taking it with the Sniper. Ergo not only Red dice with the White, but also Lethal. A guaranteed aim token to add Pierce when you really need it is a Big Deal, especially on a unit with AI, even if it is only once per game. -
You might think that, but you might be shocked at some of the mispronunciations I have heard in star wars audio books.

Star Wars Miniatures moving to Atomic Mass Games
Lochlan replied to Kirjath08's topic in Star Wars: Legion
Marvel Crisis Protocol is the only game they have ever made as a studio. A lot of the staff have a long history of miniatures game design, but the studio itself is very new. -
Star Wars Miniatures moving to Atomic Mass Games
Lochlan replied to Kirjath08's topic in Star Wars: Legion
I am not saying it will be bad. I am saying it could be bad. And as others have pointed out, expanding the game (by adding more factions) is completely different than making core mechanical changes to the game, or even changing the design philosophy for future units. An example of how a move like this can be bad would be the World of Warcraft card game. The game was originally designed and published by Upper Deck, however was later moved to Cryptozoic. Cryptozoic's first expansion blew everything that came before it completely out of the water, which certainly turned a lot of fans off from the game. A similar thing happened with Magic: The Gathering when Hasbro acquired Wizards of the Coast, with not only obvious power creep but also changing the design of the cards, though M:TG was (and continues to be) big enough to easily weather any changes like that. -
Star Wars Miniatures moving to Atomic Mass Games
Lochlan replied to Kirjath08's topic in Star Wars: Legion
Yes, a new team could easily continue along the same lines as what Alex and Luke were doing. However, what if they decide they want to do things differently? A new team would likely have the freedom to make whatever changes they wanted to. Just look at the number of people in this very forum (yourself included) who have talked about how they would prefer if things were done differently in Legion. And that's all well and good, but I would hazard a guess that most of the people who play Legion like it the way it is, and aren't looking for drastic changes. And nobody wants to see power creep, but that is a thing I have seen many times when a game has changed development teams. -
Star Wars Miniatures moving to Atomic Mass Games

If Alex and Luke are still on board I personally wouldn't be worried about this. But if Alex is indeed gone and Luke is indeed potentially gone, this I think is a huge concern. -
Star Wars Miniatures moving to Atomic Mass Games
Lochlan replied to Kirjath08's topic in Star Wars: Legion
Like @DFocke I am not expecting any major changes to anything. Likely all of the major staff will be making the move (I have a hard time imagining Alex and Luke not being part of the game anymore). Price could maybe change, but they just recently made price changes, and I doubt this has any impact whatsoever on manufacturing. -
No. "When a unit with the Danger Sense X keyword would remove any number of its suppression tokens, it may choose any amount of tokens up to that number to remove, including none." It can remove a number of suppression equal to or less than the amount a unit without Danger Sense could remove, not more. If a unit without Danger Sense has, say, three suppression, and during the Rally Step rolls two blocks, that unit has to remove two suppression tokens. A unit with Danger Sense, however, can choose to remove 0, 1, or even the full 2, but not more than that.

Star Wars Miniatures moving to Atomic Mass Games
Lochlan replied to Kirjath08's topic in Star Wars: Legion
It seems like Asmodee wants to make Fantasy Flight a pure board game company like they used to be. They split RPGs off a while ago, and now miniatures games are moving as well. -
THE MANDALORIAN, in a Civilized Age
Lochlan replied to Imperial Advisor Arem Heshvaun's topic in Star Wars: Legion
No, IMDB lists his character's name as Axe Woves. -
To be clear, this was definitely intended to be a con release (most likely celebration). But with every convention cancelled, they had to get them out to the public somehow, and honestly this seems like an excellent compromise to me.
-
Only game stores can get them. And what the game stores do with them is up to the individual stores.
-
They have a notched base, so yes.
-
Well, it's on actions and attacks, but moving is an action.
-
The last (and so far only) points change was last year (I think it was in August?). The devs have stated that they are aiming for one set of points adjustments per year. Other RRG updates happen two or three times a year.
