  1. Hello all, I'm running my group through an old Rakata ruin complex and was wondering if anyone had/know of a place to find pre-built maps that would fit?

I have already seen the map from Kotor but this is to small for what I want to use it for.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks

  2. Lets not forget the Model 77 Air Rifle with Pierce 4 and 6 stun damage that cuts through minions like a knife through butter and has long range. Breach is really wasted on minions any weapon that has pierce above 2 is pretty much equally effective as a lightsaber for cutting through minions. Its even worse now with a mod that can add autofire...

Honestly I get tired of these omg Lightsabers are massacring minions please make it stop threads when pretty much any weapon in the hands of PC's can do this especially blaster rifles. Lightsabers vrs minions is nowhere near as bad as Heavy Blaster Rifle + Autofire + jury rig which is even easier to get in game oh and won't really attract bad guys who also use lightabers and the force.

The fact is minions are entirely designed in star wars to die en mass thats why they exist and are not entirely meant to be a threat to the party, except in cases where large numbers of them walk around together...

My issue isn't with the Lightsaber, or even Auto-fire it's more to do with my ability to balance encounters so that they are fun.

  3.

Fun fact: Did you know that is was Darkside force users that created the first "lightsabers"?

    http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lightsaber/Legends

Do you mean the Forcesabers? Cus those aren't really the same thing. That's literally channeling Dark side through a crystal, no batteries or mechanisms. It's hacking and slashing with frozen Force Lightning.

It was the Je'daii who made the first Lightsabers as we know them today, and they were pretty much Light side (striving for balance).

Did you not see my extremely useful use of " "? :)

  4. Hello all,

So still plugging away with my KOTOR conversion and so far everyone is really enjoying it. But I'm having a few issues with the conversion of story from single player to multiplayer.

    1) I'm trying to think of a plausible reason that Davik wouldn't be suspicious of Canderous bringing in 5 random strangers to "sign up" to the Exchange.

    2) Also, having a few issues with the "Force dreams", I have so far had it happen randomly to a PC so they can relate information to the group but going through how the council handles this i'm looking at completely re-writing the Dantooine stage which is a massive headache.

    3) What are peoples suggestions for NPC's, so far I have kept the main NPC's from the game in my conversion but I don't want to really keep them around as there could be nearly 14 people on the Ebon Hawk which seems pretty unrealistic and takes the story away from the PC's.  The only NPC I really need is Bastilla. But it seems cruel to just have them all get murdered or left behind.

Because the PC's arn't minions, they go over their Strain threshold and become unconscious. Minions are a practical way of showing a Narrative aspect such as Han Solo shooting at 30 or so Storm troopers on the Death Star and not being immediately wiped from existance.

PC's are the heros if they don't survive your story then you have no game!

Did you even read what the consequences are that I posted? The character would be deaf, blind, and dead that would require immediate medical assistance at the local med center. He would then have to pay to have cybernetics replace his eyes and ears for pulling a dumb move.

If Han did this, he would have been killed. That's why he never did that in the movies or books. He's not stupid enough to use the Hero Shield.

You're assuming that a Stun Grenade is the same as modern Flash Bang.

If anything I would suggest that a Flash Bang has the disorient quality rather than Stun.

Of course the description in the book is helpfully vague :) so it comes down to how you chose to GM it.

Personally I see them as an energy wave that works the same way as a Stun setting on a blaster causes harm enough to knock you out but not kill or do serious harm

My reading of the stun grenade -- going back to WEG -- has always been that they're non-explosive and generate a large non-directional pulse that works in a way similar to the stun-setting on blasters.

Why some people are suddenly in favor of things like nerve damage... I just don't get it.  Maybe I missed where these people have argued for blasters set to stun to also cause long-term nerve damage.

Oh I'm not suggesting it as a normal effect but the question is about how to dissuade their player's from over using a tactic that whilst is fantastic to do once shouldn't be abused.

For normal stun grenade use I see them exactly as you do.

If the player keeps using it then he is unconscious.. this put a lot of pressure on the rest of the party too keep him out of harms way.......this is where he gets dissuaded from over using it.  you can have his weapons stolen, his backpack stolen, he could be attacked and nearly killed.

This topic shall hold every Mandalorian homebrew thing  I can find please help and contribute I hope this Topic can be like the compiled Resources topic. but for only Mando stuff, and stuff related to them which means got something Togorian, Taung,or Cathar? please share!!

    Current contents:

    Mandalorian Human:

    2 Brawn,2 Agility, 2 Intellect,2 Cunning, 2 Willpower,2 Presence;

    • Xp:100
    • Mandalorians start with 1 rank in Ranged(Light)
    • Mandalorians always treat Knowledge(Warfare) as a Career skill.
    • All gear of Mandalorian origin (i.e. Mandalorian armor, beskar'gam armor, Westar-35s) cost 25% less.

Notes: I did not mske this up the people over at Rancor Publishing Group made this up. (Did anyone else notice that their initials make RPG?)

Isn't "madalorian" a clan rather than a racial thing? Wouldn't Madalorian be better suited as a class rather than a Race build

I'd say that it is more a racial thing, seeing as they have their own planet, culture, lifestyle, general behavior, that sort of thing. You can't just "become" Mandalorian

But if you did your research, ANY race can be a Mandalorian.

  8. Why would they be deaf, blind and dead?  Do you not think in the Star wars universe they haven't created safer stun tech? Stop applying "real world" physics to a fantasy setting, you are just limiting yourself by doing this.

Why are you playing a Star Wars game if all you are going to do is regress the tech level to todays standards. Put away the Science book, and open your imagination.

Anyhoo, it is your game so run it how you see fit.  But before you "rebuff" my suggestiong again, remeber, you asked us for help.

Also, who determines whether or not an NPC would die? Only you as the GM can decide that. If it's an Important NPC then you keep them around. if not they sacrifice themselves. Do whats good for the story and fun of teh game, not the rules. Hold your group UP not BACK.

  10. I Love this Idea! Award Xp to the injenious player who knows he can't beat the enemy so opts for a draw instead, trusting in his friends around him to make sure he is ok.

I think many people are getting bogged down with the "minusha" of the stun granades.  Guys, it's a sci-fi game, lets not ruin the flow and emersion of this great idea by picking it apart because of "physics". :)

I would be inclined to just have the grenades take both the PC holding them, and the Enemy out of the fight just because it was such a good idea. despite what the dice told me.

Great idea and narrative actions whould be rewarded. This will encourage more great ideas and "thinking out of the box" by your players. If they feel that their "strange" ideas will just get picked apart by the logic police then really guys, why are we bothering to play RPG's in the first place?

  11. Running an OR game isn't too difficult as long as you are aware of each characters motives. If your players want to play power seeking evil doers I would STRONGLY suggest giving the group a Patron of somekind, such as a Sith Lord who can keep them in check and get them to do what he wants.

You could start tha campaign at the Sith academy on Korriban and have the characters get "selected" by the patron for an elite group of opratives.

The Old Republic era works VERY differently to the Star Wars we all know as "canon". Many Jedi orders wer enot against Jedi Marrying or even falling in love, Some Jedi academys accepted older members, and more importantsly the Jedi had no centralised seat of order. It wasn't until later on that the Jedi high council banded all the academys and minor temples under one banner.

So if you think how different things were for the Jedi order, Imagine the range you will have with the Sith?

I would love to run a Sith game, but I know what my players are like lol.

    Good luck with your game.
