    Yes, absolutely this^^.
Dont let it stop your Epic enthusiasm for Epic!  It's all part of that silly "charm" that makes FFG  FFG.  🤪
The game is still awesome,  the improvements are great,  and its very fun to play Epic now.

    Yes,
I too have experienced the same issue with the new bases and the 1.0 huge ships.  I also am finding the base punch is off by a millimeter or two, resulting in the cardboard forcing the pegs out of position, or forcing the cardboard to bow/lift up on one edge, not sitting flush on the base.
Lastly, the revised epic pegs in my conversion kit do not all want to seat securely in the base plastic.  Some of them slide in and seat properly, but others do not and I am having to either force them into the base, or settle for having them sit slightly high off the base, which enhances the wobbly aspect of the loose fit into the Huge ship peg posts....☹️

Unfortunately,  the redesign is significant and the new movement tool is engineered to work directly with the new base design.
The movement range is different,  and the hook and base interface is changed.   It's much better than 1.0, but it does make the 2 versions non-interchangeable.
Edit; OTOH, if its "uber casual" I suppose you could just make your own house rules for how the maneuver template works...
It would be more loose play, but could be done.

Agreed.  It's not going to stop me from forcing those pegs in and putting those awesome Huge ships on the table, just a shame.
Will probably be able to get the cardboard issue resolved with some pen knife scraping on the base peg holes, so the base can fit over the peg holes properly, but again, too bad they didn't just work out of the box.
The pegs are the worst part though. They redesigned them to fix the turret arc indicator issue, (so the 1.0 epic pegs are incompatible with the new base plates), but there are some very tight tolerance issues with the interlocking plastic where peg is supposed to fit into base.
One of the many other good surprises though was the inclusion of the full on plastic maneuver template!  A very nice upgrade from the cardboard 1.0 version.

Echoseven got a reaction from Tarhoraan in Question to the TOs out there: Measuring arc from a loose ship token
    That is a tough situation.
Since, presumably the player did not intentionally bring a base and token combo that did not fit together on purpose,  its neither players fault.
Since the round was already in progress,  I would had the two players roll a die for it.
If the shuttle player wins the roll, they get the arc. If the opponent wins the roll, it's no arc, no shot. That way, at least it feels like both players have a chance and are not being ruled against for something out of their control.
Post round, I would have called for another token plate, to see if the token, or the base was the the problem.  If you could proxy another base token (one that fit properly), I would have done that for consecutive rounds, assuming that was not the final round.

It was from the first draft of Episode IX where Rey and Kylo get into a very awkward relationship and things get weird.
