  1. I just played a Sato list yesterday. My opponent brought an ISD, a Gladiator, and a whole heap of elite squadrons. His squadrons pinned down most of mine, except for Tycho (I didn't have intel). We were playing firing lanes. He threw several squadrons plus AA fire at Tycho, and he just wouldn't die. I was hoping to get two good Sato shots at my enemy with Salvation and Mon Karren, but he dropped down to speed 0 just out of range and I couldn't hit him the first time around. The one round of shooting I had did a fair amount of damage, but not quite enough. I would have had a second shot, but he moved out of range from Tycho, so my damage output dropped a lot. So be careful where you place your tagging squadron. Especially if it is out of squadron command range. At the end, Mon Karren managed to kill the ISD, but died to his squadrons. Salvation got blown up by the Gladiator (which ran off to chase Jaina's Light for a while, but returned to the battle in time). I'm not sure if the gunnery teams are worth it on the MC30s. You might be better of going for a dual arc shot. 2. I agree that you want Tycho and the Hawk. Shara Bey is awesome in defense, but as soon as she is tied down somewhere, she is not tagging the enemy ship for Sato. Tycho is amazing at that job, and he can be very hard to kill.
  3. Here is the version I'll probably take to the table for a test game. I don't expect to see many flotillas, at the most one. So I'm going with leading shot. I was trying to decide between Xi7 and spinal armament and decided to go with the second for now. 4. Thanks both of you. That's some great advice, not just for this particular list, but my understanding of Armada in general. Some random replies: I usually used CR90 as support, harassment and objective ships (love Jaina's Light), but I guess I've been underestimating their offensive power. Funnily enough, I already exchanged Slaved Turrets with DTT on Salvation when I was playing around with the list. I'm mainly playing a friend (Empire) who is also learning the game as we go. So there is no real meta. I guess Xi7 meshes better with Intel Officer. I can intel the brace, and redirect is negated by Xi7. I like leading shots and Sato looks amazing, but where to take the points for it I don't know. I could reduce my fighter screen, but I have a feeling that my opponent might bring a bomber heavy list for a change, since I had great success with one in our last game. Will do some more list juggling Edit: How important is it to have intel officer on either ship?
  5. What's the advantage of spinal armaments over slaved turrets or dual turbolaser turrets? Is it just to allow ships to double arc? Do I see it correctly that Sato would replace two of my reds with two blacks for best effect? He's quite pricey though, I would need to cut down some cost elsewhere. Which Pelta would you use? My first thought would be the command ship for squad 3 and blue dice instead of black. And Toryn Farr for better fighter efficiency.
  6. Hi all, I'm slowly starting to play more Armada, after having mainly collected the ships for a while. I usually like playing bomber wing lists, but I thought I want to give the liberator class MC80 a go. I came up with the list below, but I'm not sure if I'm heading in the right direction. I got some squadrons to screen my fleet from enemy bombers, and couldn't help but to still include Yavaris for some support. I also added a transport to keep my activations at four. The main damage will come from the MC80 and Salvation. I would have liked to have an initiative bid, but I couldn't find anything that I wanted to cut from the list; quite the contrary, I think the list doesn't have all the upgrades I would have liked. Any thoughts? 7. The Guri list sounds intriguing. Mainly after some general pointers on how to fly them.
  8. My list was: Norra, R2D2, PTL, Tail Gunner, Alliance Overhaul Miranda, TLT Biggs, R7 I was going for durability, but they still died really fast. Also, I didn't know what my opponent would bring, so I just went with a list I wanted to play for fun. The HM sounds interesting. Will give that a go next time. My opponent has a very in-your-face playing style. The problem is that I don't play often enough to make the best of his mistakes
  9. Because we were playing the flechette cannons wrong.
  10. Hmm.. strange. Not sure why she is listed as 32 points. Might have been a mixup when I made the list in squadron builder. He definitely played it at 100 points. Yeah, I think I would have struggled less if Norra hadn't been constantly double stressed. She died last and put up quite a fight, more often than not staying at range 3 and putting asteroids between her and the enemy.
  11. Thank you for the ideas! I didn't think of the Big Ships. It will be time to get them out again. Also, we've been playing it wrong and piled stress on stress, which added significantly to me losing. It's been too long since I played last and I trusted my opponent with the rules.
  12. Hi all, Any ideas how to counter this list? Can be any of the factions. The last game I played the Defenders just flew up to me (Miranda, Norra and Biggs) and shot me to pieces. I was thinking of using an aces list and try and arc dodge them? Especially since most of them have low PS. Are there other viable strategies? 13. I like playing lists where I can shoot a second time if I miss. A friend asked me for a 150 points game, so I came up with this list. Any thoughts? 14. Thanks for your feedback! I have passed it on to my friend who will be playing Imperials. I've been planning to play Drea and Kavil with TLT and a Slaver with Bossk and Gunner (based on Ynot's list). The list did quite well against an Imperial list. After your feedback, I'm not sure how well it will do against the two IG-2000s, since the TLT like to be at range and out of arc. Maybe I should come up with a new list, but then I really like this new scum list.
