    - I would have liked to see cards go away entirely.
Move everything to the squadbuilder (or printed lists from the squadbuilder). Use something like the threat system, but with the complete build on one card, to make ships playable out of the box.
    - It's always bugged me that you play to the death.

Some sort of mission or objective system that prioritizes keeping your squadron together would be neat. If you've ever played one of the "Leader" solo board games by Dan Verssen, that's what I mean. I want there to be times when it is better to pull out of a fight in order to keep my pilots alive. Get the HotAC guy on the payroll.
    - And for the love of God, put enough dice in the core set.

So in the last 3 days i've seen more people posting blatant lies, personal attacks, jabs about poverty, braggings about their own wealth, demands I buy a phone they like, that we share their opinions precisely etc. than I've seen in a long time
really some of the most immature garbage.   Why are all these people crying that other people don't think conversion is a good investment? why do they care so much about FFGs profit margin?   why do they care if i purchase the type of cell phone they want?  Why is it soooo important that we conform to their needs?   like did this page get taken over by those incel misogynist cult dudes all the sudden?
Im watching this unfold in the hopes that FFG realises they are losing thousands of players/customers and offers more reasonable options, but if this community is what the game is about, it might be better to be involved.
The appropriate response to players leaving is to consider whats turning them away, not to yell at them about what a great deal it is to buy the thing they don't want to buy and insist they are a piece of **** for not purchasing the product
Anyway there have been some great posts on this board... peoples sweet paint jobs, custom game types, fan made pilots/upgrades, and a general celebration of this game and how fun it is.  its a shame to see so many people descend into vitriol for no reason at all

    Yes yes yes!!!
Scenarios and objectives please!  Rune Wars does it beautifully, why can't X Wing. I too am so sick of the same deathmatch every game of x wing. There are some great scenarios that come with every ship, sure they need balancing for competition level, but there is something to work with.

I must be in the minority because it is not as important to me as you might think. I have four perfectly good 1.0 X-Wings that will work just fine if I play X-Wing 2.0. Just need the proper 2.0 dials for them, and you only get two in the Conversion Kit.
Besides, I prefer the look of "lock your foils in attack position" and would just keep them that way. Only flipping the card to and from when called for.

This is entirely delusional. I've been through many edition changes with many games, and while there's almost always  a cost involved I've never seen players collections held to ransom like this before. You can push yourself through mental hoops about it being a new game if you want, but it doesn't change the facts:
I pay $90 and lose three quarters of my collection. To unlock my entire collection with official conversion kits would cost more than $400. Two Imperial kits, two rebel kits, a First Order kit, a Resistance kit, an Epic kit and a new Starter.
It's undeniably a barrier to entry. The cost of conversion is high, no matter how you justify it or what comparisons you draw. It's a lot of money. The sheer Volume of people upset about the price prove that a lot of people consider the price to be very high. It's rubbing people the wrong way.

Or just think of it as a paying for all the development that went into designing a new game and the accompanying app. You're getting more than just material goods for the price, after all.

I am super psyched about 2E coming up.  I have no problem paying $50 for the upgrade kits.  I will probably just buy the Imperial one off the bat and then get the other ones slowly as I have the money.  And for a little while I was pretty sure that I wouldn't need to really buy the actual game box.  I have templates (sure they don't have the line but they would still work) I have tons of dice.  I have tons of X-wings and TIE Fighters.  I even have a smart phone.

But then it hit me.  The Damage Deck.  The only think from the starter set that I can't get somewhere else is that dang Damage Deck.  $40 is a pretty steep price if the only thing I need is the damage deck.
Dear FFR, please sell your damage deck separately.

Only if you couch it in terms of "legality."  Which has no meaning at all for someone not at a tournament.
I can walk to the store right now, buy a pack of Magic cards, and riffle them into a 20 year old deck I built in 1998, and play a game with my friends.
All of my Magic cards are PLAYABLE with any and all of my other Magic cards.
So Magic is the perfect example of a quarter century of compatibility.
The only thing I can use from XWM 1.0 is all the plastic models and some of the plastic stands.  The games are NOT PLAYABLE at all with one another.

     PRINTED CARDBOARD IS ******* EXPENSIVE!

Include pilots and upgrades from core in the conversion kits and release a cheaper "core set lite" for veteran players with just the damage deck and manuever templates.

Rule book will be available online and in the app, for free.
It'd be really strange if they suddenly didn't allow to use the old tokens, especially with all of the acrylics players accumulated over the years. And there are some tokens in the conversion kits.
There are no new asteroids. Core set contains 3 old rocks and 3 old debris.
    So you are paying for:
    - three ships you don't need
    - pilots and upgrades that should be in the conversion kits like the rest of wave 1
    - damage deck
    - 1 straight template for barrel rolls and turn templates for talon rolls.

Structuring the conversion kits to require a core was a blunder and gave credence to the "money grab" reaction to 2.0.

Finding a way for returning players to get the cardboard we need from the core would go a long way towards building goodwill, and allow returning players to focus on all the GOOD stuff coming out of 2.0.

The new 2.0 damage deck The new 2.0 maneuver dials The new 2.0 rule book The new looking game tokens The game templates The new asteroids and other game markers Core-set only pilots cards Core-set only upgrade cards ...and a few other things.
What long time owners of X-Wing do not need are more TIE Fighter and X-Wing miniatures. They could very much use the new 2.0 maneuver dials, but not more miniatures.

As the "proud" owner of 3 x-wing core sets, and 2 TFA x-wing core sets, I REALLY just want the conversion kits.. This may have been stated elsewhere, but what is essential in the 2edtion core-set that you cannot live without?
    Damage deck?
Templates (I could live without those, going to get acrylics with that center line anyway)
    Core-set only pilots? (cards+cardboard)
Core-set only droids? and/or other upgrades?

Honestly, I think something like this would bring back a lot of the players who are looking at the cost of updating their collection and giving up on X-wing.  Yeah it might not be a big difference in price but it would be something and it would eliminate the annoyance have having even more tie fighter and x-wing models that will just gather dust.  It would certainly generate some good will.

You and a lot of other people feel the same way. This is just one of several reasons way FFG should have a No-Ship core set, or better known as a Basic 2.0 Upgrade Kit.
Basic Upgrade Kit - Waring: Ship Miniatures Not Included! This 2.0 upgrade kit is for the owners of the 1.0 core set.

That is the beauty about this No-Ship Core Set option. You already have lots of TIE Fighters and X-Wings, so all you need is the core set (2.0) without the model ships included.
I just hope if they do actually use this wonderful idea that they would print more of the No-Ship Core Sets than the Core Sets that will have the ships, because I can already predict that the No-Ship Core Sets will sell out fast!

Several people have mentioned in the threads the idea of offering a No-Ship (no models) Core Set. What a brilliant idea! The countless numbers of people who had bought the 1.0 core sets certainly do not need the three models that come with the new 2.0 core set, so why not offer a No-Ship 2.0 Core Set for these people? Brilliant!
FFG could release a No-Ship Core Set Upgrade Kit that does not include the ship models and the standard Core Set that will include the ship models.
Now only if we can use our 1.0 "Proof of Purchase" tokens. Sending them to FFG to get the exact 2.0 upgrades we need for example. ?
