LionCub got a reaction from Mandalore525 in Will the new L5R have multiplayer?
Title says it all. FFG rarely include multiplayer in the baseset. I couldn't find anything on this stating otherwise so I'm just going to ask. Will the new L5R have multiplayer, and if so - how many? Would like to see 3 player, 2vs2 and a PvE co-op would be really cool addition.

Whenever I need a creepy soundtrack I use the one from Myst 2: Riven. You can find it on youtube. I highly recommend

Actually,  a guy made an Arkham Horror soundtrack for the Board Game which was pretty awesome.  It features 1920s music enhanced with creepy effects.

I keep a copy with my Arkham Horror board game.
I also recommend looking up the HP Lovecraft Historical Society at cthulhulives.org.  They sell Radio Plays based on Lovecrafts work that are really high quality and make fine thematic background noise.

Id say there is simply only one answer to this question .. Cryo Chamber on Youtube does dark ambient mixes (1 hour 2 hour etc) of Cthulhu inspired lushness https://www.youtube.com/user/cryochamberlabel

Google youtube converter mp3 - one of those should work.  If it doesn't I can try and post my mp3s of it later.

Oh you all need to go to Tabletopaudio.com if you already haven't. Great ambiance tracks. I always use this for my RPGs. You can que them up in whatever order and quickly switch if the mood changes gameplay wise.

Someone on one of the Facebook groups recommended Atrium Carceri. To be honest, when I saw the name I assumed they were a metal band, but I did just check anyway and it turned out they produce really good quality, dark atmospheric music.

Just about all of their albums seem to be appropriate, but 'The Old City' (a videogame sound track) and 'Metropolis' are particular highlights.

So far it looks like investigators will only appear with the deluxe expansions (based on the one expansion we've seen).  LOTR LCG went the other route and after 5 years there are 93 heroes to select from.  Sure, you get to use up to three at a time but that's still a drop in the bucket.  So I'm actually please that they will be rolling them out for AH at a slower pace.

The basic idea is whether you just want to play or if you want lots of deck construction option. If you just want to play then 2 cores works just fine for 4 players otherwise 1 core per player should give you plenty of options as at 4 you will have a full playset of each card for two people so you can fully cover two players for each of the classes.

2 cores and 1 Dunwich should be fine for 4 players, I have 3 cores and 1 dunwich and I have made 6 decks including both roland and zoey as well as jim and agnes, everyone doesn't get exactly what they want but all of the decks so far are quite good, so 2 cores and 1 dunwich should be fine for 4 players even if two of them want to play the same "class"

As other people have stated multiple times 2 Cores is the right amount of core sets. IMO I think people are trying to build 4 solo decks to play with multiplayer (So every investigator gets all the good stuff) but because its multiplayer you can make every investigator specialize in something. Makes the game more thematic. Also your playing as a team working with each investigators strengths and weaknesses.

1 Core per player seems about right.

I agree. It's extremely wasteful. They should have just charged a bit more for the core and included 2x player cards or sold 2 versions of the core with different scenarios.

2 cores per player is ideal, but in that situation it would also be ideal that each player is purchasing their own cards. I agree that it's insane to expect one person to own 8 core sets just for the sake of playing with four people. Best way to approach it would be to play with what you have, and if everyone enjoys it, try to explain the benefit of players having their own playsets.
That said, 2 cores is enough to play with 4 people. You'll have to use the recommend starter decks with no wiggle room, although owning Dunwich might let you do some very minimal deck customization. That will change as more cards are released, and I'd think that by the end of the first cycle you'd have some decent deckbuilding options.
When I play with my 4 man group, I have 2 cores and another member of the group also has 2 cores. So far we haven't had any problem letting people build decks with that set up, so if you have to supply all the cards for the group and really want deckbuilding to be a thing now, I think 4 cores is the way to go. 100% not necessary to enjoy the game though.
TL;DR: 2 cores will let you play with restricted deckbuilding, 4 will let you play with far less restricted deckbuilding, and 8 cores will ensure everyone has their own playset and there's not any potential for card shortage, although it is a ridiculous amount of investment for one person to make.

Sticking to the core set characters, you would never need more than 4 cores with 4 players. With 4 cores, you have at least 4 playsets (4x2 cards) of each neutral card and you have 2 playsets of each class card. And unless you play one character twice, you will never be able to have 3 characters that can have access to the same class.
With the Dunwich investigators, you will have more deckbuilding options and maybe everyone ends up wanting that one card twice which you only have 4 times but given that you also get more cards to customize, I think you should totally be fine with 4 cores.
As previous people mentioned, you can build four characters with 2 cores but you won't have all the options.

2 cores and a copy of Dunwich is serviceable for 4 basic decks, but I'd coordinate on deck building or even have a single person construct the decks with feedback from the others.
I put together 5 decks (one for each class: Roland, Daisy, Agnes, Pete, and Jenny) out of that card pool, and while some of the decks are kinda meh, they're all very much playable.

What you have will allow you to play 4 characters without overlapping classes, you just won't have a ton of card options. It should be fine to get you started though, and then you can determine for yourself if you need more.

    Thats an official rule.

It depends on how much deckbuilding you want and how much money you want to spend. For 4 players 2 cores is fine if you all play different classes but you will still be fighting over some generic cards and offf class cards.

I started looking to buy some starter sets for the CCG now to tide me over until FFG get their product out, but I can only find them in the US and that leads to a 120$ ++ shipping cost. Bummed out I found out about this game to late.

Hoping very strongly for Tau faction. Not because it's my favorite faction (maybe third or fourth favorite faction), but because a friend of mine is an avid Tau fanatic and with the inclusion of that faction I know I could get her to play anytime =D

Tyranids and Necrons are my top picks for new factions, but I'd rather have Tau over them for her sake.

Maybe with Total War: Warhammer coming there will be renewed efforts on this game from FFG? Or am I being to hopeful? XD

LionCub reacted to TheSniperTroll in The Sniper Troll: a Warhammer: Diskwars Blog
For other games they discontinued (Warhammer: Invasion, Tannhäuser) they did just that. Moreover they announced the end of the line while announcing the release of the final expansion. We don't have any reason to think it would be different for Warhammer: Diskwars when it will be discontinued, which at the moment is not.

As MechaBri.Zilla wrote somewhere else (sorry man, can't remember where), many made the mistake to consider Warhammer: Diskwars akin to a Living Card Game (or to X-Wing) and drew the erroneous conclusion that it would receive the same amount of support those kind of games have, with frequent expansions and such.
Well, this isn't going to happen. Maybe it would have happened if it had a more vibrant competitive scene, but FFG found it didn't and decided to cut the support for tournament play. That's it. But no support for tournament play doesn't mean no more Diskwars, just that we'll have to wait.

We'll have new expansions when the new expansions come out. No sooner, no later.

Necron, Tau, Tyranids, Dark Eldar, Sisters of Battle and Imperial Guard in that order for me =)

Edit: Odd reasoning why Necrons are on my top pick (besides being one of my favorite factions) - I have never seen FFG do Necrons yet and I really want to see them tackle how to do them.

As for future factions - I hope they go even wilder on the asymetric balance. Maybe have Imperial Guards have 3 tier 0 units, have the Necron units be generally stronger, but more expensive, the tyranids biomorphing planets, etc.
