    Scariff Mat?

Anyone know of a good Coruscant mat image similar to this?
  2. Us early adopters benefited from the tournament point max being 300 until wave 2. That helped with not needing to spend as much early on. Does nothing for newbies coming into the game now though. I think even if the cost upfront was similar, X-wing would still be more popular. It is just much easier to pick up and play and takes way less table space. That's alright though, I much prefer the crowd that plays Armada. X-wing drew in too people with sour attitudes.
  3. One Set. The box is still going to be "owned" by someone. Things will be all shared during a campaign playthrough - because campaigns are all about caring and sharing... .. But to translate this to Tournament Play for Tournament Legality - That will be "One Copy, One Set, One Player." Yeah that is kind of what I was thinking. Bummer though as it would be nice to not have to buy two kits for two players when the only thing that would have to be duplicated to make one kit work is the objectives. Remember, that's just for Tournament Play. In which everything is "buy your own". Well not just for tournament play. I supply enough for two people to play so I can host games and the sharing objectives method as per the instructions in the core set isn't fun. I know I could proxy them, printing out scans or whatever, but they will never be close enough that you wouldn't be able to recognize the copy from the back, meaning as you are picking objectives you will have to hide them so as not to tip off the opponent as to which cards they could be. Not a big deal, just an irritation, similar to the irritation of FFG never supplying enough dice. Being nitpicky, but I'm sure I can buy extra cards second hand or buy two sets and sell the extra pilot cards. nevermind the fact that, because of its contents - its priced well enough to be worth it... Its a third of the price of the Core Set, for one. Its the second-cheapest of the Price Bands we hve for Armada... For that, you're getting all of the Squadron Discs, all of the Objectives, all of the new obstacle tokens to use with the new objectives - that part can't be missed - and so on... For $30US. It's definitely reasonably priced. I hope they continue to do more of these at regular intervals going forward.

  6. Since the campaign is designed to be one campaign kit for a group, supplying both teams with their respective squad cards and such, it gave me a thought. Will the campaign box contain 2 copies of each objective card (one for each team) or will it be like the core set and only be one set of these objectives? Thoughts?
  7. I keep my bases, cardboard, dials, tokens and stands in a separate plano container all together. So I don't use the gear boxes. I just keep the ship models in hangars and in a different container together. So that works just fine.
  8. I like it better. It will save a lot of space compared to the one with the stand combined without having to remove the models from the stand.
  9. some of my favorites Lighter games Survive: Escape from Atlantis - simple concept and gameplay. Hex board like Catan. It is a fun time with many laughs as your build alliances and betrayals trying to have the most of your meeples survive the sinking island (with limited boats and attacking sealife waiting to eat your people) Captain Sonar: tough to get to the table because while it plays well with 4-6 people, it is at its prime with 8 players (4 on 4). Essentially it is real time (not turn based) battleship as a team. Plays fast so you can easily get in several matches. Medium games Pandemic (without expansions)- A great game that is not heavy on complexity that you can play with gamers and casual gamers. Gets deeper with the expansions. Carcassonne - Feels similar in some ways to Catan but it does play quite differently. It can get much more complex with expansions. Pandemic Legacy - One of the best games I have ever played, love that the game has a building narrative and permanent consequences. Been playing with a regular group at lunch time. Best if you have the same recurring group. Also once you play the 12-24 games to finish the season, you have finished the game and replay-ability drops. Heavier games Star Wars Armada - I have both Xwing and Armada and I love both games but prefer Armada. They both really capture the theme perfectly and I love the grand strategy naval feel of Armada. It is quite something to feel your plan come together. It is slower and more methodical than Xwing and doesn't have as much excitement when dice are rolling (mostly because it is a lot less reliant on dice rolls and luck (no green dice) so both players have a general idea of the outcome before an exchange is about to happen. Definitely recommend trying it first as just because you like Xwing doesn't mean you will like Armada (or vice-versa) even though they share the same list building mechanics. You will need expansions to get what you want out of this game. Star Wars Rebellion - This is very much the boardgame version of the PC game. A lot of the same ideas are put into this. I freaking love this game. It is amazingly balanced and always feels close. Highly strategic but there is enough luck with card draws and dice to make it exciting as well. The game really tells a story as you go and when you finish you feel like you went through the original trilogy. Star Wars in a box is what many call it. It is definitely a more complex game than any here except maybe Armada. It also will take 2-4 hours once you know the rules and 3-5 with teams (that know the rules). Most of the time comes from thinking. It can have some analysis paralysis if players overthink. I have probably 15 games in of it and it hasn't gotten stale but it still takes just as long. Typically if my usual opponent and I are debating about Rebellion or Armada for a night, they end up taking about the same length (Armada including list building will take 2-4 hours if you are starting a list fresh). My two cents.
  10. GT stands for Gran Turismo or Grand Tourer when referring to cars, Grand Tournament in poker which I think is its usage here.
  11. When I called them the other day, they said they open at noon for registration and games started at 1. Maybe I should call and double check that.... UGH... That's a bummer. I would really appreciate not being out until 1am on a Sunday.
  12. Are they still starting no earlier than noon?....
  13. I thought the event went really well (except for my record lol). I was thoroughly impressed with the food options and the commitment of the staff to making sure it was a fun environment. Competition or not, it still is a game with plastic figures! My only gripe relates to the tables, but not because of the lack of mats (understandable) or the overhang on the edges of the tables (also hard to avoid). Rather, I found the issue was that there was simply not enough space between tables. I only had three pilots and a handful of upgrades but I still had to stack everything to make it fit. There simply was not enough room. Most games my tokens and rulers sat on the play space because there was no where else for them to go. Perhaps next time remove one table from each row and get a few extra inches between each. That would really help with the crowding I think, especially since there is no space between the player and the table.
  14. Forgive my ignorance, why are there holes in the bottom of the model?
  15. Likely the case but the syntax of the card still allows either case. Hopefully the FAQ will state the wording is meant to be "another" card and not a card. Either way a couple of games in I'm sure it is meant to be another card but you definitely could rules lawyer it either way. It would be nice to have the clarity. And actually you don't play a card to activate its text. You act on the text and then discard. It's doesn't happen before or while, it happens after. So someone could argue that the card discarding after is for both. You could also argue since you don't have a card to discard at the end you can't do it, but by order of operations you already have. It begs the question of why they didn't simply say "another" for desrcribing which card. I don't really care which way it goes but I think it is something confusing enough to be clarified.
