I'm super late to the party, but I think the "Battle for Jakku" box set should have different cards compared to the Corellian Conflict set.  Specifically, let's do ship titles or something rather than new squads.

The other stuff was things like if you overlap an epic ship, the smaller ship just dies, it required energy to do stuff that would generate each turn.  they could shoot further away, too and used a different movement template.

About the only things that could show up in Armada Epic (assuming similarity to X-Wing Epic) would be these:
    1) Huge ships can deploy outside of the deployment zone, but must touch the players Edge. Armada will probably be the same.
    2) Huge ships immediately destroy ships they overlap. In Armada, I suspect that fighters will still get scattered. Overlapped Ships will likely work the same way, but the SSD will probably not take damage from ramming. I am guessing that asteroid and debris damage will still occur.
    3) Limits to the number of Epic ships. In Xwing you can only field a set number of Huge ships in a scenario (Epic points). I suspect they will limit the SSD to 1 or 2 per fleet depending on size.
Even if the SSD is 300 points, it may be 3 Epic points. In a 1000 point game, you could theoretically have 3 SSDs, but if the cap is 4 Epic points, you can only bring one.

as far as I am concerned, the game now has everything I asked for in Armada. I wont ask for more, and whatever else comes is bonus and extends this lovely affair ?

It might be a mistake for them to produce other epics if this ship sells. I know I have wanted this ship more than anything, and I will preorder it and eagerly pick it up on release day, but it is the only epic ship I will ever buy. The Executor is the Millennium Falcon of capital ships. It is by far the most famous capital ship in all of Star Wars. It's omission was like a gaping wound in 3x6 gaming mats around the world. Armada might have been a fun miniatures games without the Executor, but it was never a true narrative Star Wars capital ship experience, because it was missing its beautiful queen. Now it is complete. There would be no point in adding a Bellator, or any of those other ships. What would they give us that the Executor does not? How would you build an anti-Bellator giant killer rebel fleet that would differ from an anti-Executor fleet? How would you build a Bellator focused scenario or campaign that would differ meaningfully from one tailored to the Executor? Why would we pay $200 for any of that? Why not just release another little campaign box focused on epic ships if they come up with a lot of cool new content for the Executor? Armada never needed the Executor to introduce the epic format. They needed an epic format so they could make the Executor. And they did.

I totally agree.  I think a lot of people balk at the idea of dropping $50 on an ISD, but you need only 1.  When people are buying 3+ TIE Fighters for X-Wing, the price difference is a wash.
People aren't very good with money and price points.  I remember in a marketing class so many moons ago that they said $20 is that sweet price spot.  More and people start to reconsider buying.  I think that's why X-Wing excels so well.  The iconic, cool ships people want are $15-20.

I mean, that's not an entirely incorrect view. $200 for one model is a bit expensive for those on a budget. And given the announcements, they're clearly focusing on those two games more than they are Armada (from a business standpoint, probably the best option).

Honestly, 1.5 waves a year is fine by me but just tell us what the @$"#+*!=!!!!!!! is going on. Give us a little article here and there to let us know you have plans for the game. Total radio silence is really pissing off the community. And if FFG is done with armada, then stop playing games and tell us that no more products are coming. SAY SOMETHING FFG!!!!!

Any competitive RL game system stands on three support groups.  The creator, FLGS, and the community.  If any of the three doesn't support the game adequately, the others have to pick up the slack to make up for it.  Trying to support with just the community is rare for a game system, though not unheard of (doubt it would survive retribution from the mouse though).
To gauge the support for the game from each we can only infer data.
FFG: obviously isn't putting too much into the game
FLGS: the store championship list as compared to last year will give us an estimate of support
Community:  we as a community are pretty avid, if disorganized.  The community is disorganized in the sense that we are not generally holding large events outside of FFG's OP structure.
The problem I see for FFG and FLGS, according to my napkin math, the average income from an Armada player is currently much lower than other game systems.  Even two releases a year just isn't enough to justify supporting the game.  For a smaller FLGS, as a function of table space, Armada is an even worse prospect.  In the local meta, when it still existed, most of the stores are small enough that hosting an armada event with 12-14 players would nearly shut down the store.  Regular casual play is going to crowd table space for more lucrative systems.
In FFG's shoes, I would exploring how to lower my costs going into Armada, or raising the amount of money players pay, both, or just kill the game.  Any of which would result in what we are seeing now, needing time for reorganization.
For the FLGS, I'm not sure the situation can be salvaged without sacrifices from FFG to promote the game.
FFG can feel free to put up a release article to prove me wrong.

I think that this right here is the death spiral of Armada.  I've noticed the Armada players in the area (all 8 of us) have made less effort to play and many of them have branched out into other product lines.  I'm personally excited to see what happens with MonPoc 2.0.
Ultimately, FFG can do whatever they want with the game.  I have all the product I need in-hand.  I can easily run a 3-player Corellian Conflict with what I own and nobody would feel like they're severely limited.
For me, the real "problem" is that I'm actually less interested in their new product.  With how poor they've managed Armada, I'm not inclined to buy Legion, Xwing 2.0, etc.  I feel like I can buy stuff for a different game and get better service (or whatever you call it when the company actually puts out articles and previews and crap).

I would do a better job running FFG’s community outreach if it was my lowest priority, I actively wanted the game to die, and I was only allowed to work in it while someone was kicking me in the ****.
Because whoevers doing it is so bad at it that at this point I’m actively impressed they still draw a paycheck.

Short answer: No, with a but...
Long answer: Yes, with an if...

Basically, the game is dying, at least locally around me.  There is no local scene around me anymore.  The usual state-wide FB group to ask questions and organize games is silent except for the occasional post about someone getting out of the game and looking to sell their collection.  I've ran the CC three times locally, and we always had the full 6 plus a few people 'wait-listed.'  My most recent effort to run a CC only turned up four interested folks, and two of them asked to quit about three weeks into it.  The few local stores I've talked to are worried the Store Championships will bring in next to no attendance, and the most recent OP Seasonal Kit (which usually brought in 8-10 people) had two people show up, myself the TO, included.

Online, the game is also dying. The online community is toxic and there is absolutely nothing worth discussing.  Armada isn't as 'solvable' of a game as some others, but there's only so much to talk about regarding old stuff and there aren't enough big events to report on.  FFG's own support at the upcoming Gencon has the fewest seats set aside for Armada that they've ever provided, and it's going to be smaller than most of the Regionals (~40-50 people) that I used to go to a couple years ago.  Between this and FFG throwing Armada absolutely no bones, it's very clear to see how important FFG regards their Armada line. In X-Wing and Legion and their other big properties, the dev-team members are well known, but with regards to Armada I'm not even sure that FFG has ever had a dedicated person (or people) as the dev team for Armada.  I think they just pull people in from other projects and product lines when they make a new Armada product.

Will FFG release a new Armada product?  Maybe.  But even if the do, at this point I don't think it'll be enough to get my local community rebuilt, nor do I think it will be enough to reverse the toxicity of the online community and their general frustration/ill-will toward FFG, which I can sympathize with.  Post-Asmodee FFG is very unlike Pre-Asmodee FFG.

I agree. Canon has shown some droids did not shut down. Could easily be plausible that there are still CIS groups holding out.
I think Acclamator would fill a better gap for the empire. It could have a beefed up assault mechanic & a regular combat version.
The Venator would be primarily a carrier but as the light carrier is relatively new I can’t see it. It could be a large base broadside ship but that’s less interesting than the Acclamator to me.
Empire also has a gap for a full fighter pack-
    TIE Avenger - snipe fighter
    Scimitar Assault Bomber
TIE Droid - for some interesting new game mechanics
    Missile Boat - rogue bomber

    Ah okay.
So having seen it a third time with my work eyes on, I work at an aftercare center, the film is no more violent then Rogue One, or any other Star Wars film with the following exceptions. [Ive kept spoilers fairly minimal.]
-There is a shot with disembodied arms though there's no blood and it's as fleeting as ANH.
-A major get vaporized in a mortar blast though it's just an explosion and I would argue no different then any other explosive SW death.
-Someone gets stabbed on screen but it's very quick.
-The other stab I mentioned prior isn't actually shown just suggested in a very believable way.
-The only scene I think would potentially freak a kid out is a monster with lots of teeth and tentacles. The scarier part is short enough (5-10 seconds) to cover his eyes through, the rest of the shots are zoomed out so not as scary. You would know when the scene starts.
I first saw Phantom Menace when I was 5 oddly enough and this scene in Solo reminded me a lot of the underwater monster sequence.
    ~
I might be forgetting something and if anyone else noticed anything stand out please add om but that was the only stuff that stood out to me.
Now I wouldn't hesitate to take a five year old to go see it, in part because I remember seeing Phantom Menace when I was 5. Its one of the happiest memories I have. Not just the film but the entire day surrounding it.
Solo I think is far tamer then Rogue One and honestly I dont think I can say its that much grittier then A New Hope. Just remember it's a PG-13 Star Wars Movie directed by Ron Howard and produced by Disney, they're only going to ever go so far with anything explicit and it never gets worse then the examples I gave above.
You're the parent though, you know your kid, I'm a stranger on the internet.

ANH had a bloodied arm on the floor of the cantina thanks to Obi Wan (why does eveyone forget this?)
There's a few shots fired, a bit of blood here and there, Chewie ripping a couple of arms off (similar to the ANH graphical violence above). I can't remember anything too bad but if you think Snoke or Maul getting chopped in half is bad, then you better check Solo out yourself first (and have an excuse to see it a second time).
I find its not the blood or violence that upset kids, but rather shocking moments. My nephew was 5ish when he saw the original Jurassic Park. No problems apart from one scene - when the Dilophosaurus suddenly turns from cute to nasty when attacking Nedry. Had nightmares about it. Was fine with T-Rex attack, Raptors, disembodied arm etc. Young kids get triggered by shock more than expected violence in my experience, but I'm no child phsychologist.

I mean I thought Snoke slipping in half was pretty tame compared to Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru's corpses smoldering and singed on the homestead but that's just me or Obi Wan burning the Jawa corpses. Those scenes freaked me out my whole childhood.
That being said I'm going for round 3 with Solo, and i'll keep an eye out for you.
I can't recall anything too graphic, definitely not like the Last Jedi. It is more like ANH in that regard.
Usually the worst is a cauterized wound from a blaster bolt. Someone gets stabbed but I don't think we see where exactly and its your typical bloodless hollywood stab if I remember right.
Oh an officer gets hit with a mortar shell but there isnt viscera or blood just an explosion. To me thats no worse then say Porkins crashing or any other explosive X Wing death when we see the cockpit on fire.

ricefrisbeetreats got a reaction from ninclouse2000 in Solo Discussion Thread [SPOILERS!]
I think Solo suffers from a wrong place, wrong time scenario.  Everything I've heard about it makes me think this will be a really neat movie to see.  Problem is that there's a good number of people who are so angry with Lucasfilm that they're willing to throw out the baby with the bathwater.  Not that I blame them.  From the stuff I've been reading, it sounds like the producers are more interested in being jerks to fans.
Unfortunately, summer is the worst time for me to see movies.  Once it hits mid-May, I'm busy until November.  I think summer blockbusters are on their way out the door.
