Double the size of ever encounter decks.
This is the best thing for me. I really like if this expansion heads into a "forsaken lore" direction. Amazing stuff, it will be an insta buy for me!

Yeah, except in Azathoth's scenario, where you need everyone to be able to fight (in my experience atleast), she has been the MVP in other scenarios due to how mobile and flexible she is.

Same happened to me in a few games, haha.
In my first games the most common mistake was not attacking with the monsters that had moved, since i thought they had been activated already... but it seems that's not how it works!

What are the most common rule mistakes you have seen ?
What kind of mistakes did you use to do ?
I got the game yesterday, i am not sure i am doing everything well with the rules, as some stuff is somewhat weird (i mean, i played Wendy and the stuff you can do with her evade was amazing).
Cheers.

For example, 7 out of 8 encounters at Ye Olde Magicking Shoppe provide you with spells, while 7 out of 8 encounters at the General Store result in being able to purchase items. Even event encounters allow you to buy (or just give) spells, items, etc. on those locations. Most of the encounters don't even require a success, usually just money. So I don't see the need having out at any given location.
In my experience, only having a small combination of items, spells and allies is enough to give you the edge you need. That's my main issue with games like Zombicide, where you are forced to search for better weapons in the first turns of the game in order to have any chance of winning, which really makes every game quite similar.
One of the biggest issues I had with the previous AH was the fact that you normally already started out with 4-6 items/spells/skills/etc. and it only added up during the game (also, I never could picture these investigators dragging all this stuff through the streets of Arkham on top of that pile of monster trophies), which became unwieldy and an administrative hassle.
And as for Charlie Kane, I would not call him fun to play. He was incredibly useful to have in EH, but he had the tendency to end up being just an item buy & distribution mechanism, which was not so much fun for his player. He is more fun in Elder Sign.
Sry for revisiting this thread, i don't own AH, only EH, and i wanted to chime in about Charlie Kane being interesting. From a mechanical point of view if you are playing solo and having some characters, yeah he is fun to use. If you are playing with other players, it's boring as ****, and i say this as someone who is the person who uses him when we want to try to beat with no easy (mostly because my friends don't really understand what makes him good and suddenly start chasing flies when they feel like people is equipped decently enough), or only hard mythos.
He is there to cycle through your assets deck. If you are playing optimally, many of your turns will be only acquire resources followed by cancel debt, and then city encounters, to attempt to even cycle the asset deck even harder. That way you get 3-5 success on average and you can start cycling your asset cards, looking for the stuff that you want for your team's characters. I buy useless stuff which require 1 success only to see what else is coming next, there are many items that change completely the flow of the game and turn it into a cakewalk, but you need to find them. Last game i played for example i got a city guide (dunno the name on english, the one that gives +1 dice to tests when you are in a city) quickly and the Jacqueline's player got the spell that allows you to gather clues from wherever. We were literally sitting together on a city, gathering clues, cycling even harder the deck, while diana was just crazy well equipped, with some holy water, making the mission because Jacqueline can give her the clues she needed for some misteries, protect her from harm when dealing with elites.
Really, my games with Charlie Kane are the most annoying thing to witness, most people end up with 7 or 8 assets on 6-7 turns, it doesn't matter they don't overlap with something else, or if they have to discard them afterwards, i am just a cycling card engine to fuel the rest of the party. If it costs 1, i am going to push it down your throat, and you will thank me later when i give you a two barreled shotgun, some holy water, or that crazy good book that allows you to rest and learn one spell.
Ah well, sry for the offtopic. Anyways i am buying AH 3rd edition tomorrow. I can't get enough of these games

It's a very good card in harder difficulties, but less so in lower difficulties. You can argue that is not worth it on standard or easy, but it is a godsend in higher difficulties where you are not only at risk of losing actions, but drawing from the chaos bag is way riskier.
Slothgodfather reacted to this -
That's what i am implying.

The difficulty you are playing in only tells half the story. You need to say what game cards you have. If you have 1 core and you are 3playing it, You should go on easy difficulty imo.
The core campaign poses a challenge on standard to even 2 core decks. With 3 characters one core you will have a hard time deckbuild something even.remotely decent

They're Yevethan D-type fighters, and I doubt we'll ever see them in the game.Unless of course we were to see a new faction enter the game... which brings us to another interesting question...
About that question, i am guessing it is... What breakfast do you prefer ?

Just use the Han shoots first list. He can't be arc dodged and with the higher PS Han gets a shot in before the Phantom can re-cloak.
Han does shoot first...unless it's Whisper with VI and ACD that has initiative.
Unless Han has VI or has the initiative.

-
I would guess PTL on Howlrunner for a 97 bid, or swarm tactics and 96 bid. 94 bid sounds just unlikely... i hope.
-
You have to take a shot if you can. This rule bummed out my Whisper because he had to shoot at a slave 1 with rebel captive.
Uh, what? Page 10 of the core rulebook:
Combat Phase:During this phase, each ship may perform one attack against one enemy ship that is inside its firing arc and within range. What the...
I was told by two players more experienced than me so I believed it.
They also said "you have to do it now" which suggested a rule change to me.
Thanks for putting me right.
Learn the rules. I had to clarify rules to veterans. I am taking they just didn't know better (stuff like using against me C3PO for every attack instead of once per round, because well, i didn't really know what a round was on Xwing, i am guessing they didn't either... i had a silly discussion on my part on this forum for that screw up... my ties would had killed his han long ago). After discovering that i just read the rulebook, to be honest, it is pretty short and simple so there is little excuse for us to not learn it.

How about Whisper + VI + Initiative build (so 98 or 99 point build) + 2 Firesprays? I just like Firesprays more than I like Lambda Shuttles.
You wouldn't have advanced cloak, which is pretty much what makes whisper good. And actually why you initiave bid in the very first place.
-
I don't get why anyone would take Whisper instead of Echo, she's much better.
Because PS9 and an extra focus are huge when it comes to reliability on a Phantom. Echo is more manueverable than Whisper, but Echo has about twice as many hard counters.
Not really; what counters Echo counters Whisper as well. Whisper is far more predictable and limited in terms of movement; Echo can essentially spot K-Turn while Whisper at some point is going to have to turn around. They both cost essentially the same, and you can take Recon Spec on Echo to get Whisper's ability. Whisper will never be able to emulate Echo's ability.
to the OP:
Not a bad build, but I would be in favour of replacing Whisper with Echo, but learn how to fly him beforehand for at least 5-10 games.
Whisper only gets hardcountered by a PS11 Han, or theorically (i haven't played against it so i don't know) a PS10 fettigator. You shouldn't have troubles arc dodging with whisper anyways.
Meanwhile Echo gets hardcountered by pretty much any Han build.
Edit - About the list, how do you plan to deal with the mirror match up ? Iniative bid isn't really high enough to ensure you are getting it right, and you don't have rebel captive or gunner.

Imperial Aces, so you would be able to make a lot of interceptors lists would be my bet, also you have an interceptor as your avatar, that makes it even more obvious!
-
With the current trend to play phantoms, there are too many lists prepared to somewhat deal with the higher PS phantom pilots, leaving the regular phantom pilots in a very very bad spot.
-
What do you have ? What do you plan on playing ? Are you starting ?
-
I would remove biggs. You don't need the extra points to protect etahn if you build him accordingly.
Etahn A'Baht + R2 + Push the Limit + Advanced sensors
Bandit Squadron Pilot x 5
This way you have a more swarmy list and you are taking better advantadge of the crit ability of etahn.

Now search "zerg rush".
Edit - Oh, and by the way, you can kill the zerglings but clicking on them ^^

The problem with the "fly casual" will be always the same. People think "flying casual" is playing however they play with their buddies, and they get used so much to play that way, that when they play with a stranger they are actually playing the game wrong to dismay of the stranger that's put in a awkward position between calling the guy out and being "that guy", or continue to play with the homebred rules the other guy is using. It is a pretty sh*tty position to be.
The best way to maintain the "fly casual" attitude, is to play following the rules by the book. Always. It's not about giving you leeway, but keeping a healthy attitude towards the game you are playing, and it is obvious that it doesn't work the way these people think it should work.

Whisper + Rebel Captive + Fire control systems + Veteran Instincts + Advanced Cloak
(I am sorry if me writing the full names annoys somebody, but i think it is better for people who are starting out than instead reading ADC VI FC RC and going wtf are they smoking)
Why whisper before echo ? and Why the upgrades ?
1 - I don't have any troubles with decloak + movement + barrel roll to get out of arcs.
2 - PS 9 is far too important, because if we are not it would turn Han Solo builds into a hardcounter instead of a soft one.
3 - Rebel captive allows you to mitigate movement of a Engine Upgraded Falcon, it is useful in general, and godly in phantom on phantom match ups.
4 - Fire control systems allow for extra damage, because sometimes you won't use concentration but barrel roll. And it is also very useful against sturdy targets (ring ring, Falcon).

One single ship is not worth the hassle.

Both wave 5 ships are pretty good against phantom. Gunner + Tactician on the decimator would make any phantom cry itself to sleep.
About what against phantom. Either mobility or 360. With mobility it is trickier since you have to guess where he may be (and or limit his options with blockers), but it works too.

New to the game, asking for advice in list building

Hello, i just bought the Clone wars core, and i am thinking about joining a league. The format is 800 points, i am sure there are plenty of people who are also fairly new to the game aswell, so i don't need a throat cutter list, but just some guidelines on what direction should i am for to have a decent 800 point list withouth spending money on stuff i don't really want (like tanks).
So right now what i have is only the core, if you were in my situation, what purchases would you do to achieve a 800 point list, that will serve as a core from where to expand later on.
Thanks in advance, cheers
