A lot comments here from people who don't understand the UK meta.
 
1) The bigger the event, the more likely you will see it dominated by cookie cutter lists. Oddities do well in small, local events where you know the meta very well, but they quickly get countered in larger events because you will have a greater chance of seeing your hard counter.
  2) The majority of UK events are larger than, or have a wider catchment area than, all but the largest US tournaments and this is why their meta is less flexible. But "US nationals is huge", you say. Sure, but it's special. In the UK almost any random event is within 1 or 2 hours travel of 50+ million people so you are strongly encouraged to bring take-all-comers lists even in regular play.

It's obviously not working. As I said, they need to get some really good people on it full time and not as unpaid volunteers.

If you want 4 turrets, just play TLT Y-Wings. It's just better than this.

Congratulations on the win. I read your article and the podcast episode you did and found it highly informative.

Lyssa's power level depends on the number of players. If you have 4 players or more, the plains/easy terrain encounters run out quickly and she's not as strong.
 
The mindmeld guy really needs initiative. If he doesn't get it, he has problems. If he does, he is superman. The character is one of extremes in combat.
 
Edit: I guess I should add it may well depend on your group. Some people might not try to shut down other characters (for example by nicking easy terrain encounters to sabotage Lyssa) - ours does.
 
I don't rate her other ability that much. If she is defeated she can exert to heal. Big deal. The mob is discarded and she gets nothing. She'd have been better off healing before going in, and getting the trophy.

I love the tokens. It's just like casting runes.
 
I agree that dice would have been better than drawing skill cards. However, that's not hard to house rule if one counts the frequency. A quick count which I did not double-check gives 24/60 which reduces to 2/5 stars in the skill deck.

Epic is 6x3 and a Corvette is not optional - at least by social contract, if not rules. You'll get use out of that main battery.
 
For epic they should probably give you an allowance that can only be spend on large ships. Say 100 of large + 200 that can be spent anywhere. There's plenty of time to fix it when the Raider comes out.

A good player will therefore try to maneuver his Falcon to deny range 3, and deny asteroid cover and as much as possible, deny autothruster. Fail to do this against a player who has the ability to control range and use the terrain, and the Falcon will likely lose. The dice odds will be against it. Even Fat Han is under 50-50 in this situation.

It was really more about trying to dispel the "turrets are easy mode" myth rather than building a balanced list. If one assumes the turret ship is flown by a weaker player then the opposition is going ot get good shots and have the appropriate tokens. Sure, turrets are easier to fly than an interceptor but anyone saying it involves "no skill" is either inexperienced or so enormously intelligent (s)he's inhuman. The first is far more likely :-)
 
I do agree that Fat Han is pretty strong - but the players winning big events with him are also very good players. It's not a case of driving like a derp and rolling dice for the win.

FFG had at least two staffers present at the UK nationals. I saw Alex Davy (game designer) and Christian Petersen (CEO). So FFG at least knows about this event.

A picture of an example, because *someone* will always misunderstsand the question. I'd like one of these, sized for the upgrade cards.
 

 
If anyone can't see that, I'm looking for pages for a card binder/portfolio, containing pockets that are sized for the upgrade cards.

I find business card folders aren't designed for easy removal of the card and I would not trust them not to damage the card surface after several months.

Has anyone managed to laminate (protect in plastic) the dials?
 
Does anyone make blank plastic dials?
 
Where's the hobby section where questions like this should go, along with the custom repainted ships photos and game boards?

Why does pilot quality matter in a modern jet? It's all beyond visual range now. Press 1 button and the computer runs the show. The only thing stopping air-to-air being pilotless is that the lawyers won't let a drone pull its own trigger.
 
But back on topic, how would YOU recommend the Phantom is used or flown?

Soontir with Push the Limit can just take evade AND focus if you want to do that. He's also far more mobile when it comes to setting up shots. The guy can move 3 times each turn.

People are confusing two separate issues.
 
Issue #1 "Advanced proton not appearing in the regionals lists means it sucks" — Issue 1 is debatable. There's a lot of good stuff that isn't used.
  Issue #2 "The regionals lists are too small a sample size to be useful" — This is crazy talk.
 
The problem is people are discussing this without stating whether they are talking about #1 or #2.
