  1. I got into the game right before wave 4 and just started playing tie swarm after Doug Kinneys wonderful article on the drunken shark approach. The version I've run through 4 games has been Howl with determination 19 Backstabber 16 Black squadron with draw thier fire 15 Obsidian 13 Obsidian 13 Academy 12 Academy 12 Dougs article has swarm tactics on howl instead of determination and drops one of the obsidians down to an academy, but I have trouble investing in ps8 in my meta, everyone who wants a Ps advantage goes all in at 9+
  2. I think the real question is how can we be more inclusive to people unwilling to beat a dead horse
  3. A month or so back somone posted an e wing design, off shapeways I think, that looked totally awesome. You could see the relationship to the e wing we have now, but this one definitely screamed "premier space fighter" while you could convince me that the current e wing is a ground attack fighter
  4. I made two Y-Wing pilots and you'd rather have Red 2?! You're sporting a Y-Wing avatar and name. j/k. I'm gonna make the other Red pilots from Yavin next, maybe I'll add in Red 2 for you. Pretty sure that Wedge was Red 2.
  5. I don't have a ton of experience playing with phantoms but hah is gonna shoot before any of em. One reason I like whisper a little better than echo is its easier for me to keep her on hans tail at range 3, although the nova squadron pointed out in thier podcast that echo may be easier to pull that off with. Generally the best falcon tip I can give is get behind it early and follow it, I often circle part of the board before diving in at the falcon. The idea being to try not to have a round where its shooting at me and I'm not returning fire.

  7. I rewatched the ending three times and I still dont understand why the guy who conceded did.
  8. Some of the editions really varied in style of play and at what point you were during its lifespan. 5th was my favorite but also when I quit, I heard it got pretty ridiculous toward the end, which is a normal GW thing.

  10. EPT generics do add a unique flavor, and I love to use them in support roles with epts like wingman. That said I think the only addition to the ranks I'd like to see is a "Rogue squadron" x wing to replace the red squadron. X wings are a little overcosted as is and I think being able to take an ept would bump them back up.
  11. Pretty much every Imperial list i build really wants an x wing or b wing, every rebel list i build wants a generic interceptor or named tie. I like that it differentiates the factions, but sometimes i build a list with a flanker and a hitter and outside of mini swarm i cant support the hitter as an imperial player.
  12. Well if you want to talk accuracy, asteroids don't fly very close to each other at all. Relevant to other objects in space they do, but no where close enough to affect a dog fighting. That did I think the idea is kind of cool, id play it. Bust out my old scatter die from 40k
  13. Both sort if. I'm a 40k refugee and I was looking to scratch my tabletop itch again without going back down that path. I saw the axis and allies air combat miniatures game but the random boosters really turned me off. Somone showed me attack wing and x wing and the Star Wars won out in part because I prefer it but also because of the small dog fighting emphasis the game had at the time. I'm definitely still here for the game play.
  14. As far as opportunity costs go, 24 points (gold, turret, r2) is the same a a blue squadron with fire control system. I think id be willing to try it in place of the b wing.

  17. My fear is that it wont make a difference and high priced turreted ships will still dominate game.
  18. I don't think I could think of a better use of 32 points for any list than Soontir with ptl and TC
  19. This one depends on your list, if you got vessery in there id go with the two targeting computers, if not I'm a big fan of night beast.
  20. C when fkoen with a proper distraction and aec fishing Soontir is a force to be reckoned with.
  21. I watched the game he played against a dash build, his play is just masterful at times.

    Seems like a fun to play rebel variant of the list that won US nationals. I think this list could complete wreck triple action ps7 dash if it becomes as popular as people thing it will. That said I can't imagine running it myself and I think regular turrets would give you fits. Especially ion turrets. I just worry about relying solely on a wings arc dodging for defense when they don't have barrel roll.
  23. I loved the writing style, but it actually further depressed me about the state of the meta. Really tough to envision running a two attack ship as anything other than filler right now
  24. Another great video. I haven't run Jake yet but that's exactly how I want to run him. He's soontir esque. The thing holding me back is right now its tough to spend more than 18 points on a 2 attack ship.
  25. Horton is hilariously becoming the meta right now. I've been having fun and mixed success running him, has more to do with my playing decisions than the strength of the list I bring. Dutch is great both naked and with ion cannon turret and golds with ion cannon turrets are solid as well. That's the only issue right now is I've pretty much outlined every way to play them. Ducth and fat Horton go well together so you can justify two, but it really isn't a ship you'll want 3 of before wave 6.
