5 or 6 a month, get down to the flgs about every other week and play with one of three other dudes. There's other x wing players in my area, the product moves off the shelf, but they seem to stay secluded
-
I don't play anywhere near as much as I'd like
-
Texx aka Dallas Parker won the TCO using a kenkirk/whisper build. Believe he had isard gunner and predator on board.

I'm amazed I've never seen that before, I've always kind of thought of this forum as a place where people come to beast dead horses and occasionally discuss x wing

... and now the poor X-Wing is officially the worst ship of the game...
catachanninja replied to Shinren's topic in X-Wing
Inclined to agree, apart from a few cases (Jake is sexy, gemmer is solid for his refit cost)I do think that its more of a meta issue, though. A-wings have can even worse time against turrets than interceptors, IMO, because 2 dice can't even get through 3po + evade. Auto thrusters might help, but its not doing much for the cost to damage inefficiency I agree that a wings are probably still the rebels weakest link right now. However the OPs original point was that x wings are not particularly good. I don't think I've seen anyone call them unplayable but it is concerning for the game state that the namesake is not viable and is generally considered strictly inferior to the B wing. Personally I'd like to see them gain boost. Thematically it would be the equivalent of the pilot opening and closing the foils for speed increases (any one else play the Rogue squadron games). One of the old arguments for buffing the advanced was that Vader was a sith lord and unplayable. Wedge Antilles is the only pilot to survive both death star attacks. He blew up the second, the feats he achieved as the leader of Rogue squadron go well beyond that. The current meta favors high Ps and he still barely shows up. Most of that goes for Luke as well. Again, x wings are nowhere near as bad as the advanced was, but they are toward the bottom of the current situation. -
Pretty exciting too see. Significantly more bummed about losing my job now lol. If this came out three weeks ago I would have sprung for a CR90 almost immediately in preparation. Gonna be tough to squeeze this in, but I'm super excited about how the advanced fix came out.

I'd like to see the rest of Rogue squadron first. Every ship tycho flies, Gavin, ooryl, pash, shoot, even jace are still on the table.

Return of the Jedi vs Return of the King a C3PO Hobbits tale
catachanninja replied to Black Knight Leader's topic in X-Wing
To qoute clerks 2. There's only one return, and its of the jedi -
Right now I'm running etan wedge and three bandits. Haven't settled on upgrades yet but I'm leaning toward stay on target and r2 for wedge

Press [spacebar] to confirm request for reinforcements
catachanninja replied to R22's topic in X-Wing
I'm not sure it even needs to be that complex, plenty of games give you the option to keep units in reserve. To avoid victory points being problematic (imagine your opponent keeping a fat Han in deserve) just cap it for tournies. -
Strategy Session 5: Asteroid Placement Strategies
catachanninja replied to Sergovan's topic in X-Wing
This is a great write up and something I wish happened a long time ago. I love the diagrams with specific placements. My asteroid placement isn't quite so specific. I do the same as above when playing swarms, but against phantoms I often try to create a clutter in the middle, I feel it allows me to control or at least predict their decloak options. Large ships with EU are what give me trouble. Ditto for my buddies double falcon builds, I can't find an asteroid placement that doesn't feel like its also in my way. -
Probably a dumb question- how big of a mat is needed?
catachanninja replied to WWPDSteven's topic in Star Wars: Armada
I heard its 6x3 which is discouraging, one big draw of x wing is how easy it is to setup games -
I remember the hwk part but not the phantom part.

Yeah.....he was never going to become a hairdresser, was he? He just wanted to make hair silky smooth.

I am not familiar with the fluff on the d wing, but an offense oriented rebel fighter with a crew sounds fun, sort of a reverse hwk. You may have poured a little too much on with the crew/mech/sensor slot though r2d2 crew, r5p9 Astro, Kyle katarn and PTL for instance would be problematic, especially at the point cost you discuss in the disclaimer. You also did a great job of finding a fit for it state wise.

I always run predator, vader, or gunner with my decimators, they cost too much not to buff thier offense. I've only run kenkirk, first few times with Vet Instincts, Engine Upgrade, gunner, and ysanne. I was ok with thag build, but it was a two ship list (with whisper) and i got hit with a few nasty crits though that made me wanna try to protect the investment more. Id like to add vader to that build but its not happening in the two ship list. The other build I ran was predator, engine upgrade, ysanne, moffy J and Intel agent. The second one is much tankeir and protects from a few of the nasty crits that hurt decimators. Edit: My buddy put a rebel captive on his, that alone will wreck a phantom. You can just patrol officer with rebel captive and make the phatom cry.

I will say this, I have yet to buy a CR90 or even read the rules for my transport, epic with only one set of ships having epic ships seems no bueno to me. Once the imps get epic ships, I will buy the rebel ones. I am sure I'm not alone on this.
-
2 reasons for this. 1 wave 5 has been known for almost three months. It's old news 2 Turreted ships really don't use it so considering the current meta it doesn't have a place
-
Bomber swarm won my local regional. Bombers with proximity mine have been pretty playable as of late, but there is almost no playability above the generics. Jonus can be fun casually though.
-
I like the second and the third but the first would be problematic for casual games and final rounds.
-
nice choice i drive a 2013 whiteout FRS you own one too? Man I can't believe I'm gonna be that guy, bit frs stands for something, its Front engine Rear drive and I'm drawing a blank because the BRZ is boxter engine rear wheel and z is the "ultimate" (final) letter

Vi is a defensive upgrade on the phantom, moving last is a huge advantage for decloaking, at 7 there's plenty that gets to shoot before you and move after, being blind with a phantom is no fun.

I think I figured out why people have a problem with this card you post. Thats clearly not a real Y-Wing in the picture- BUT I still like it I was actually OK with this idea, granted I am a Y wing fan, but I figured putting a cannon with a price increase in place of a turret would work out ok. The y can take a hit, but if its your centerpiece it can be dropped quickly if need be so it wouldn't be terribly disruptive to the competitive balance. And the HWK is well the HWk

I didn't start playing mine until recently and its been a joy. If there are a number of high value ships in your local meta rebel captive is fantastic, just watch out for decimators carrying them. Don't get too cocky off the four dice, the maneuverability more than anything is your friend. Try to create open spaces with asteroids to take advantage of it

It seems like eveything that struggles on the rebel side has an astromech slot, there's definitly some room for improvement through that slot.
