you should see Ford vs Ferrari, it tackles that issue to some extent. Also, it's a great movie. -

i'm glad there's no option for "i'm deliberately hiding data so no one expects the super secret list i made borrowing from my girlfriends CIS stuff"

I do remember being convinced that vader was the best ship in the format at the time, I worry we didn't have enough time with the format to find its problems. -

I'm way less engaged than i was in 1.0, but man it sure does Feel like the force is better than a huge chunk of the passive mods we had in 1.0 -

Sidenote, since we're spouting off random hills and feelings we have. Every ship printed that does not use a standard front arc is a nerf to the fang fighter, and i'd really like to see points reflect that. -

I am pretty okay with naboo handmaidens not taking off in popularity, networked evades seems like it'd be kinda unfun to play against -
So i actually went back and listened because i had a longish drive, you are a great interviewer brother! Glad i listened

I know we talked elsewhere, but did you ever confirm if the nothing beyond range 1 stipulation made it over from 1e? -
can you type it for me? I don't like listening to x wing podcasts

@Boom Owl thanks for this thread, i threw the list in my box so i wasn't sucking the life out of newer players with chopper jedi. The list is strong, but not oppressively so. It's really fun and your initial write up made a few things click. @DTDanix I was watching some of your games and I noted that you usually put your obstacles all range 2 from your opponents board edge, this kinda runs contrary to what I've felt is conventional wisdom with this sort of list, would you be willing to share some insight on your turn zero plan, or specifically what your thought process behind the backline obstacles was?

I think it's super fine that some things exist in that kind of low end not good but not awful range. People have this weird obsession/entitlement where they feel like they should be able to pull any random ship and spam it and do well, or that they shouldn't be punished for having some weird list building restriction. "I should be able to run every pilot on a chassis" "I should be able to run ace with two generics that are identically equipped and win" I don't think a game can be balanced. There will always be somethings that come out more or less efficient, if the end game is still fun, it doesn't really matter. -

My first instinct looking at that chart is that theres one person playing both in the same list and we're looking at thier tournament data through 23 games and also someone went 0-3 with the b wing. -

For instance, Chico definitly would have put a note next to the unique upgrades that appear in multiple factions to denote faction or at leas slot, so that I don't have to check for art cues when looking at things like c3p0 Han. -

shooting me constantly with modded dice, sometimes you're just trading shots with your opponent while you get to a meaningful position. It's frustrating when your opponent gets to shoot you constantly with no consequence and you don't even get to shoot back. It feels much less bad when your opponent has to choose between shooting you and mods, which is why i'm not terribly upset by the fake turrets. -

A little late, but i heard an interesting quote from one of the ubisoft devs assigned to rainbow six siege "we care more about player frustration than having a perfectly balanced game, we are trying more to manage frustration rather than win deltas." The quote came from the hot breach podcast, but the whole interview is on youtube as well. The quote is from about 69:30. I think it's pretty relevant to our x wing conversations, because people don't always realize that that the two concepts aren't married. -
