I thought that the Yorr shuttle was included as a buffer against flechette torps, as both soontir and whisper would really hate those.
That was my understanding, protect the ships from un wanted stress
-
That initiative bid is pretty important, also Biggs. Out of curiosity, whose the third x and how are you running wedge?

Team Covenant recorded the final match at GenCon. They said they will be posting it within the next month.

I do miss 40k especially the fictional universe. FFG has that 40k lcg coming out and I will definitely throw some cash at that. I'm sitting on three 40k armies right now. Haven't touched em since 5th ed. 5th ed was great though, miss that game.

I don't want to go down to three ships and I'm not a big believer in heavy laser cannon. I do like the idea of dark curse though, he's obviously more defensive but with the extra points I could change the advanced scopes to fire control system. Phantompho pretty much nailed it on why yorr. I also generally like having higher pilot skill. I'm still a little worried about how this list would deal with a whisper though.

Backstabber!
I really can't bring myself to like backstabber except as a flanker in a tie swarm. I ususally run my ties as a mini gunline with whatever else they're supporting while soontir, echo or in this case brath wreaks havoc everywhere else

I'm working on a detailed mathematical analysis on why wave 9 ships will suck.
You're numbers are wrong, everyone can see wave 9 will be op.
-
Wave 9 is so far in the future that it's actually present day in our own galaxy, so be prepared to face off against X-Wings with F-22s.
...and then, because it's present day, FFG will have created a temporal paradox and reality will implode upon itself.
SHUT UP AND TAKE ALL OF MY AMERICAN MONEY RIGHT NOW!!!!!
Which means wave 40 will reach the grim dark future and bring in 40k ships!
I'll run some combo of dutch, f-22's and i can finally dust off my vendetta gunships again

I'm working on a list to try out the defender and i wound up with seventeen points free. I'm fairly happy with the lists durability and maneuverability. I've got seventeen points left and was originally going to add mauler mithel and call it a day, but i remembered black squadron+predator has a pretty strong following. Or if there's a third option I'm missing id love to hear it. The rest of the list is included belowRexler Brath (40)TIE Defender (37), Predator (3)Captain Yorr (28)Lambda-Class Shuttle (24), Enhanced Scopes (1), Fleet Officer (3)Night Beast (15)83 points

Will the meta be able to handle the lack of symmetry between ships? If imperials get two ships and rebels get one they're gonna be way OP

Here is my take on how X Wing match ups could be used to refight classic WW2 dogfights.
Battle of Britain
Spitfire Mk I = Z-95 (good all rounder)
Hurricane Mk I = Y Wing (tough workhorse)
Me110 = TIE Advanced (could be used as a light bomber)
Me109 = TIE Fighter (has advantage over Hurricane and Spitfire due to better dive and climb rates)
Ju88 = Slave 1 (tough, maneuverable for it's size as was used as a dive bomber too)
He111 = Shuttle (slow but tough)
Ju87 = TIE Bomber
All fighters have similar firepower (2 Attack)
Later European Theatre (1943 +)
FW190A = TIE Interceptor
FW190 Sturmbock variant = TIE Defender (uparmored version of FW190)
Me262 = TIE Phantom (hard to hit but fragile)
B-17 = YT-1300
Spitfire Mk V-IX = X Wing (good all rounder)
P-51B Mustang = A Wing (fast but lacks firepower)
P-51D Mustang = E Wing (great at everything)
P-47 Thunderbolt = B Wing (strong, heavy hitter, good handling)
i really like those two at the end. Somone else suggested the p38 as the tie advanced I thought that was fantastic as well, I might also offer the grumman f6 as the advanced. I can't decide if the zero is the A wing or Tie interceptor but both of those are pretty solid comparisons.

One less Ps but same price

I have great news! Stuart Wilson from FFG has scanned in 100% of the squad lists and emailed them to me, from the GenCon United States Nationals tournament! We don't have all the squads broken down yet, but we are working on it.
Xwingtoman has also provided the final rankings, so we will have a full report!
Unrelated, the Australian National Championship will be starting in about 6 hours, at 9am local time. I was bad and only just remembered to email them to request results! So if you are attending please remind them that we would love to get their full results. I sent an email to canberra@goodgames.com.au, but I don't have the contact info for the TO.
Is it possible for you to share the scan?
-
Originally i had three preordered but that was before i realized that there were multiple refits in each box so its back down to two. I have two each of A and B wings
-
I have three right now and I sometimes debate a 4th but haven't taken the plunge yet. If you want your collection to support two players four would definitely be the way to go.
-
As a rebel player in a local metta dominated by large base ships i feel naked when i don't bring at least one b wing. They're very point efficient, advanced sensors is nice for for maneuvering but lately i've been running them with fire control system for extra damage output. The named pilots could be a little more exciting, but that's what rebel aces will be for.

For the bookeeping MJ here was my 11th place squadron from the final round of 64 on Saturday.
Chewchilla the Killa + Predator + 3PO + Hans Olo
Airen Cracken + Swarm Tactics + Shield Upgrade
Bandido Squadron x2
Went 3-2 (15) great matches except for my self inflicted brainfarts against Piqsid. Great matches all day, cheers to Rick on the win a class act an worthy champion. A big a$$ thanks to Jeff B. who bailed me out after I woke up at 9:50 and realized I had 9 minutes to get to hall. Jeff graciously loaned me his Airen card until my card box caught up in match two, that good karma helped carry his double YT to the final. Probably not a good idea rolling into rack at 04:30hrs before a final methinks, oh well it's GenCon. Let's not also forget Jeff's display of sportsmanship in the final when Rick deglected to recloak, top shelf class.
Hope to see many of you in Hamilton in Oct at the CA national.

I'm hoping that was intentional and you're a stargate fan

Wow man, heck of a story. My dad also got me into star wars, I'm lucky enough to still have him around. The first Rogue squadron game came out when i was a kid and for some reason i fell in love with the y wing. So whenever I'm running dutch it brings me back to my friends and i running around the playground pretending to be in space ships. I'm glad you were able to get back into the fold.

Not sure why this is still going, but those of you who have a problem with allowing the cloak action had better go freak out at the germans too.

At about 11:30 the rebel player allows the imperial player to roll the defense die he forgot to on the phantom. Now the rebel player went on to win anyway but can you imagine the scandal if echo had laid multiple hits on wedge as a result?
-
Yup. Found it... Dunno how I missed it originally.
When performing a barrel roll, a player must first declare from which side
of the ship’s base the action will be performed. Then, he measures to see
if the ship is able to perform a barrel roll action from any legal area on the
declared side. If the ship can perform the barrel roll action, it must do so.
If the ship cannot perform the barrel roll action, the player may declare a
barrel roll in the other direction, or he may declare a different action.
• When performing a boost, a player must declare which maneuver template
and direction he will use. Then, he measures to see if the ship is able to
perform a boost action with the declared template in the desired direction.
If the ship can perform the boost action, it must do so. If the ship cannot
perform the boost action, the player may declare a different maneuver
template or direction to use, or he may declare a different action.
So "I'm going to boost" (measures over an asteroid) "Nope... Guess I'm going the other way" is perfectly acceptable.
I believe in that example you could also declare a different action if you didn't want to boost a different direction

I would recommend dropping the alpha squadron down to a tie variant,( maybe night beast cuz he's super tanky)so that you can give an interceptor push the limit. Really makes em more fun to play

Oh wow, it was won by
3x Bounty Hunters!
I am going to see if I can track down details now.
How did you come across this? Random YouTube searching?

For the past few days I've been googling "x wing 2014 nationals" trying to find the us ones
-
I don't think this works quite as well as i want it too but
100 pointsPilots------Jan Ors (36)HWK-290 (25), Ion Cannon Turret (5), Kyle Katarn (3), Hull Upgrade (3)"Dutch" Vander (23)Grey Squadron Pilot (23)Y-Wing (20), R2-D6 (1), Wingman (2)Gold Squadron Pilot (18)

Half kill points
in X-Wing

I think the OP is on the right track at least. Playing multiple turns of run away is totally against the spirit of the game and in my opinion poor form.
Maybe half points is the exact right solution, but at first glance it seems better than the current option.
