I like the idea of a Fallout game, but instead of a roll-and-move like Talisman, I'd like to see an open-world game where players go on quests, find items, earn XP, and such.

Ravaga reacted to JgzMan in FFG has made a grave oversight
FFG currently makes all the Star Wars games. Not, I hasten to point out, all that there are. All that there can be.Ground Combat, Starfighter combat, Capitol Ship Combat, Galactic Control, Living Card Game, RPG (I think they make the RPG) and sh*tty 15-minute two player card game for when you're board, and there's nothing on TV for another half-hour.

But with all this, they have missed a critical component. We need a soundboard. FFG, you need to lean on Disney to release a soundboard suitable for any/all android/iOS devices, so that I don't have to listen to my friends do terrible wookie noises, and they don't have to listen to my Darth Nasal.

Help us, FFG. You're our only hope.

Ravaga reacted to Athenor in Why aren't Raptors of more use?
The raptors didn't fire rockets until the last mission of the show before that, they fired ECM's and drones.

With that being said, the raptors are essentially a "Resource" in the board game. Just like Nuke tokens, only sculpted. Why are they sculpted? Because it looks awesome.

They may introduce combat raptors in the next (final?) expansion, but that isn't a given, and I think it would be better handled by a crisis card that says "risk 1 raptor to X; if successful, damage Colony Ship." Or something to that effect.

Why do you think the quality is bad? For me it is quite nice and I'm very satisfied with the game.

I couldn't disagree more.  I think the ships are well done and match the scale of the Galactica on the game board (with the exception of the Base Stars, which simply couldn't be done given that they're so much bigger than BSG).

Well this was fun!  Just a few minor clarifications:

-At no point was I angry.  I was more bewildered at the refusal; it would've taken a fraction of the effort to simply apply the damage card.
-Bullying: It certainly felt from my perspective that any bullying and belligerence originated from the other party.  I can't stress enough that *I* was not the one who initiated the notion of ejection from the event.  The player brought it up as a challenge, and continued to escalate.
-The T.O. informed me that the player's REMOVAL FROM THE STORE (not just tournament) was up to my discretion.  While we were discussing the matter, his opponent walked up and informed me that the player in question had corrected the game state.  Endeavoring to be as fair as I'm capable of, based on that information, I told the organizer NOT TO EJECT HIM.  The misinformation in the original post also does not jibe with the "I'm a paying customer" demands he subsequently initiated with the organizer.
-Anyone who thinks I behaved inappropriately due to a sudden "taste of power", I'd rather have played in the event.  We had a gaggle of store champions and regionals top finishers, and THAT'S where I derive the rush of besting or being bested by the best, not by quibbling over nonsense.  My already great appreciation and respect for organizers and judges has spiked considerably.

XBear: at any point along this journey, I would have been happy to drop it:
-If you had simply milled the necessary damage card, but you escalated.
-Once I had instructed the organizer not to eject you, but you came over to me where I was watching another match in progress just to pointedly call me childish.  I even gave you that one without response, so you could cool down.
-The matter was concluded as far as I was concerned, but you decided to smear me in SoCal X-Wing.
-When that didn't go your way, you took it here.

Everyone else; I truly am a flawed individual.  But I make my apologies when in the wrong, albeit sometimes too slowly.  This though?  I'll take a hard pass.

Ravaga reacted to Rodafowa in FFG has regrets about Wave 8? (What does this mean for Wave 9 and beyond?)
No. Making the timing of the steps involved in making an attack explicit, and so clarifying the extremely muddy waters surrounding the timing of effects that trigger off those steps, is something that's been needed for a while. This is in no way a step back, it's an entirely necessary foundation for the future development of the game.

Ravaga reacted to thespaceinvader in Taking crits or hull damage while still having shields.
If the card says 'deal a (faceup/facedown) damage card' it ignores shields, because that's what the card says, which overrides the normal rules about how damage is dealt.  Cards such as Wampa and Advanced Homing Missiles fall into this category.  If a ship is dealt enough damage cards to kill it, it dies regardless of how many shields it has remaining.

If the card says 'deal/suffer X (critical) damage' it goes to shields first because that's how damage in general is applied, and the card doesn't say to do otherwise.  Darth Vader crew (both the effects on the ship he's on and the ship he's targetting) falls into this category.

In general, do what the card says, don't do what it doesn't say.  In particular, don't assume anything about what the card says that isn't actually written on it.  Just because it deals damage at an unusual time, doesn't mean it doesn't follow the normal rules for dealing damage - any exception to the rules will be specifically stated on the card (or very occasionally in the FAQ/tournament rules).

To whom it may concern at FFG,

I've been playing board games / CCG / LCGs / etc for many years now, and lately I've been thinking about the board game that got me into it all... HeroQuest, circa 1991! I absolutely was blown away by a board game that had different scenarios, monster figures, but most important of all... the furniture! I loved it all! Even though by today's standards the rules were a little crude and undefined in some places, and it got way too easy as you leveled up, it was such a fun game and some of my best gaming memories are from that time.

So... since it was set in the WarHammer universe, and FFG has the rights to the Warhammer series... why not remake it? I can think of no better game to remake. No offense to Descent, but nothing beats Zargon raining down the forces of evil gargoyles, goblins, and femirs... and did I mention the FURNITURE? (If you do remake this, don't change the furniture into tokens! hehehe...)

OK, who agrees? What do we have to do to make our voices heard?

Ravaga reacted to Rakky Wistol in New Core Set, Wave 7 and Epics, Keeping up with the Joneses...
Right now is pretty much the biggest glut of releases at once in the history of the game. A late wave and a late epic combined with a forced release and a moved up release combined with FFG upping production finally all makes it feel really expensive now.
I started just single faction (imperial) and traded cards with my buddy who was all rebel. Now I live far away and am the primary supplier of ships when we play and have had to buy a few rebels here and there and am loving scum. I now have to provide my own ships for target practice as an imperial player. It's weird. But you can get away with 1 of most things that are not ties or Zs.
Proxy away for casual play. Half the time I don't even get out the upgrade cards for my lists as I just have them up on "yet another..." Makes set up and clean up faster too. (I do use upgrades for bombs and other consumables).
Just dropped another $140 for me. Another $40 for the new core. Good thing my birthday and Christmas are left this year for some other stuff.

Don't forget that a lot of single cards are on eBay for a couple of bucks. Personally, I'd rather buy the ship, but if someone is just after an upgrade card or two for a targeted list, then you can get anything you want for a few dollars on eBay,

Dang, you beat me to it! I agree -- no sense hating on the toys. My brother and I had a bunch of these, and only when we were older did we question their screenworthiness. We loved all of this when we were kids. Why do we think we have the right to be snobs about it now?
I think tossing the EU canon sucks, but I love a good Star Wars story, so I let it go. We all ought to do the same.

This is why I am drawn to the rebel side.  I rebel against the nonsense punctuation rules you are forcing me to use.

#1 by the time you get to the end of the question, it's too late to inform someone that you are asking a question.  If you are going to require a question mark to denote a question, it should be at the front of the sentence.

#2 With the current set of rules you are attempting to oppress me with there is no symbol to denote an exclamatory question.  Hence, lacking that symbol, I feel free to choose EITHER allowable option.

#3 I am looking for your exhaust ports as we speak.
