  1. Dat first page of kneejerking fanboys doe. XD The acting of the prequels? Godawful The way the story is told in the prequels? utter garbage The essence of the story? Not bad. (aka, evil mastermind manipulating everything to topple in the perfect way to give himself absolute power and succeeding) The battle scenes? Also not bad The vehicle and setting designs? Actually pretty cool. You might think so too if you step back and take a good look without that little voice screaming 'PREQUELS BAD' in your ear. The music score? Beautiful as always. I would be interested in it, as long as they were two separate 'eras' of gameplay. I wouldn't mind blowing stuff up with one of those cool delta star fighters.
  2. How did you think complaining about having fun was a good idea in the first place?
  3. Winner winner , chicken dinner there! I quite agree
  4. Luckily my significant other and I have a lot of converging interests. Video games, WWII history, wargames, science fiction, strategy games, etc etc etc. It's a lot of fun.
  5. Isn't one of the pilots a Sullustan?
  6. I spent $350+ before I played my first game. I have a problem
  7. Closest I can think of is the A-9 Vigilance. But, it was just a Heavy Laser Cannon. Wouldn't that be bigger than the fighter? Then again, a space version of an A-10 might be cool. What do you think the rules would be? You only roll one attack die but if the enemy doesn't dodge it you get to throw their fighter at a wall and laugh while the pick up the pieces?
  8. Did anyone ever strap a turbolaser onto a fighter in the EU?
  9. My thoughts exactly I don't know anyone over 25 around me that plays this game, minus my old history teacher that I got into it. And he's already teaching his kids to play, so that's another thing you've got to remember. A lot of those '30+' aged players have families, and I would wager a lot of them are going to get their kids into this as well.
  10. Whereas I was very much under the impression that it was all based on 60s-70s USA and the Vietnam war. It's been a while but I remember reading about it in a 20th century USA culture class. Lucas's original script was filled with notes he had written about various allegories he had made between the two. Huh, I hadn't heard that, but I'm now reading about this. It does make sense. Though I wonder if it might horrify some more conservative Star Wars fans. Then again, there is also a powerful strain of conservatism that is anti-government, to which it also appeals. That said, I do agree with Captain Lackwit that the imagery of the Empire is unmistakably influenced by Nazi Germany. I think that Star Wars gets part of its appeal because it's able to be a metaphor for so many different things. Hell, the way the EU frequently writes about the Rebellion, you'd think that Mon Mothma is a form of George Washington, thereby channeling the American Revolution. Yeah, basically the Vietnamese were the Rebels and the USA was the Empire according to George Lucas according to what I read.

  12. Agreed. As an added bit of evidence I just stumbled onto on Wookiepedia, one of the A-Wing pilots in return of the jedi was played by a woman, but her one line was a dub from some guy. Interesting, no? EDIT: Double posted. Darn. How do I delete this?

  14. Yes, and the Rebellion seems to be a greater offender on this front than the Empire is. Nah, you see droids all over the death star in the first movie. In fact, if I remember correctly, that's why C3PO and R2D2 are able to get around, because they pretend to be imperial droids.
