  1. Rhymer is the only one that can get APTs to work reliably so in that regard he can be useful. Of course two APTs and preferably PtL is damned expensive and probably not worth the points. He might be an interesting choice for the new Proton rockets.
  2. Sorry remembered wrong. Thought protons cost 5 pts. Nevermind. Move along, nothing to see here.
  3. I would argue that there are truly no bad cards in this game. That said, the cards mentioned by the OP are harder to use properly than many others. The blaster turret in particular is very hard to justify on anything other than a HWK with Moldy Crow and Recon Specialist. Personally I would like to add some missiles and torpedoes to the list. For instance, normal proton torps are just a bit too expensive for what you get.
  4. Crap does happen though 45 degrees are a lot! +/-10 degrees can be accepted but any more than that will just look odd. The worst Ive encountered is about 30 degrees on my HWK but since I'm repainting it right now that partcular problem will soon be fixed.
  5. No. Just no. Trying to ion everyone and their dog is fun but not the most competitive. And gunners on the HWK? Hard to think of a worse waste of points. Better to have tactician instead so you can stress and ion at the same time. I'm pretty sure however that four Gold Y wings with ion turret and an R2 would be far superior. You would have better manouvers and some basic firepower.
  6. I think we can all agree that outmanouver is probably wasted on Wedge. On other ships however it might be the best thing since sliced bread. Phantoms in particular should be truly deadly with outmanouver though that does mean giving up on veteran instincts. Tough call that one.
  7. It happens that some symbols are not properly filled with colour. Normally this is not a problem but when a hit symbol suddenly looks like a crit it can be prolematic. A simple fix is just putting some white paint in the badly filled symbol.
  8. Not a terribly exciting idea. The only thing it would accomplish is preventing scouting.
  9. Actually I think someone on this forum posted an easy fix to the Falcon (and Lambda for that matter). Printable engine glow. That's right, just print out on a normal colour printer. Don't know who did it though.
  10. Advanced Protons work on many more ships but they are not easy to pull off. Major Rhymer can do wonders with them though, especially if he is supplied TLs from a Lamda
  11. From a technical stand point you have done a good job on the conversion and paint job. I particularly like the engines. That I personally think the raised back is a bit ugly is moot, can't account for everyone's taste after all. Could almost say I don't like the big booty.
  12. I think it would be good for them to slow down a bit with the releases. If they continue to ship a new wave of four ships every 5 months they will quickly run out of material to publish.
  13. I'm pretty sure that the official rules are as harsh as they are due to FFG wanting to avoid any sort of conflict, though they do seem unnecessarily anal at times. For instance: 'Each ship in play must remain attached to its base. If two or more models in play could potentially touch, causing conflict with movement or placement of ships (e.g. two Millennium Falcon ships are placed with their bases touching), players must adjust the number of plastic pegs to increase or decrease height until the ship models are not touching. Under no circumstances can a player continue his turn while a ship model is removed from its base." The above is just ridiculous, the game cannot continue if a ship is removed from its base. Sometimes the best, most sensible and practical thing to do is remove the damned ship for a short moment!
  14. It should come as no surprise that many older missiles and torpedoes are a bit overpriced, seems to have been so from the very beginning.
  15. I mostly interested in how that thing was made.
  16. Quite frankly I have a hard time seeing a 'best' expensive ship. If you make any ship expensive you run the risk of not having enough over all firepower in your squad to deal with the enemy. That said, my money for 'best expensive ship' would probably be a regular Bounty Hunter in a Firespray. Hard to beat 33 points for what essentially moves, shoots and evades like an X-wing.
  17. That depends a lot on which ship you want to paint the engines on or just what base colour you want if you don't care about 'historical' accuracy.
  18. The most bizarre I've seen in X-wing tournaments was a player that never used both hands for moving his ships. This obviously led to poor placements and bad precision so I started moving them for him whenever I had the chance (IE when they were deep on my side of the table). The most bizarre person I've ever met on a tournament (Warhammer) was a guy that didn't know how to or couldn't pronounce dreadnought, came out something like drechnoch and he had the most intense smell that I have ever felt. It was quite frankly not a smell any more but an aura that assaulted my nose as if I had smelled pure ammonia. Disgusting.
  19. There's one HUGE problem with this TUZ. Now I'm inspired to paint even MORE Star Wars minis. God dammit, I was looking forward to some paint free days.
  20. Oh! I get to join the club! Do we have a secret handshake or something?
  21. Personally I would strip most of the upgrades and squeeze in an extra x wing if it is possible.
  22. Nice! I have seen several of those repaints already but in many cases I got more angles here. Only one problem with that list though. My repaints were not on it.
  23. Everyone likes fart jokes. If they claim otherwise they are lying. In any case, the lists. Why SPA instead of advanced cloak? You have already outfitted your phantoms with VI so they should benefit more from the instant cloak instead of some evade tokens.
  24. Maybe it is the other guys charging too much? In any case, as I stated before I'm fairly new to commission painting and I feel it will probably benefit me more in the long run by setting the price too low, at least to begin with. Besides, I'm not really into commission painting for the 'big money' but rather because I enjoy painting and modelling. I'm happy if I can make some money from my hobby and it helps fuel my ongoing addiction to plastic crack.
