Couldn't find time to work on it yesterday so no picture for tuesday. However today there has been progress. The detailing stage has finally begun!

-
Nah, that is not a problem, speculating what might, or might not be, should FFG release it, can be a fairly interesting exercise for the mind.
-
Now, if you do get thing built and it looks really nice, would you consider making a mold and casting copies of it? I would be interested in purchasing one or two off you if the price wasn't too crazy.
Now... how annoyed are you going to be when they introduce this ship in Wave 6? I think the Gamma-class would be an awesome part of epic play as a way to capture the rebels' huge ships. I'm so jonesing for that to become a thing.
Making a mould? Now that might be something to consider.
If they were to introduce it in a later wave, I might get a bit annoyed but on the other hand I get to be the absolute first person to play with it. Little loss, big win!
Though if a craft with boarding capability emerges I'd suspect the DX-9 transport or the Gamma ATR-6 transport to be chosen first.Anyway, here's the latest update though I don't have much to show since it's the boring filing and sanding phase. Still, it means that I can soon add details.

Some? Heh! You could say that.
The model is currently in the filing and sanding stage, so yes it will become far nicer to look at. In fact, it will become as smooth as a baby's arse. -
Pinning it with thin pianowire and gluing it back into place with superglue or epoxy will do wonders.
-
I wonder if you have noticed it yourself, but the white stripes together with the lines on the solar panels create an optical illusion, that makes you believe that the stripes are not quite straight. Also, like Executor says, the bases are very nice.

Boarding could be a very interesting addition to the game although I feel it is unlikely to happen as it perhaps would detract from the dog fighting aspect of the game.

BTW what should I use it for? I obviously can't use it in competitive play but in friendly matches it should pose no problem. Is it a Lambda or would it be better to classify it as a Decimator when it comes out?
I don't know why you would want to use the miniature as a proxy for existing miniatures.
Come up with original stats for it. Maybe you can even find some that people already came up with.
No. Just no. 'Homemade' ships are far too often the lovechild of some fanboy and suffers from unbalanced stats and/or pointcost. By using an existing ship I get a perfectly good ship that no one will protest facing.
-
If I remember correctly it did feature in X-Wing Alliance. The very similarly named Gamma class ATR-6 assault transport could be found in TIE Fighter.

Should have known that I could not fool the collective wisdom of the Internet people.

So for my next project I decided to build something from scratch and I'm going to post updates just about every day so you can follow the build. However, for a little extra fun I decided NOT to tell what it is I'm building. Let's see if you Star Wars experts can figure it out quickly. A (digital) cookie to the first one to guess right.

Very good guide/tutorial! Though I was quite good at eyeballing movement already. All those years guessing ranges in Warhammer certainly has payed off.
-
The Lancer would of course work in terms of size but I personally think its quite ugly.

Decoy opens up a whole new can of possibilities. Only problem I see with it is figuring out exactly where to put for the greatest effect. It seems to synergize well with high PS pilots that you dont want to be hampered by enemy defensive tokens. Just swap PS with someone lower on the initiative order, let them shoot first and strip any tokens, and later unleash the full potential of the elite pilot. For instance, I can see Wedge using this to great effect.

That's Keffisch. Here is a link to his thread:

Well you guys certainly liked my latest project. Me happy!

*looks at Macross' HWK-290*
*looks at my own HWK-290*
*throws both the mini and all paint in house away*
Seriously, this looks amazing.Don't do that man, all you need is a truckload of practice, time and patience.

That's so metal

The paint job is fantastic but I'm blown away by the detail. Look at the belly turret beneath the canopy. It has striping detail! How'd you do that??
What do you mean striping? The belly gun is painted just like the rest of the ship.
It looks very great. Very metallic. Very evil.
Reminds me of an 80s cartoon laser shooting robot eagle? Golden elements and red eyes? Anyone?
Yes it does look evil. I wonder if we could come up with a great 80s cartoon villain name for it?

Vader might be fun but sadly he is in a TIE advanced and it just isn't good enough. Therefore you should go all in with Carnor Jax. Also, if you have a stealth device, consider putting it on him instead of the hull upgrade.
-
Decided to do something a bit different with this one. A model almost completely painted with NMM techniques. For those of you not familiar with the term. NMM means Non-Metallic Metal and refers to painting something so that it looks like metal despite not using metallic paints, in this case gold and dark metal/gun metal.

Prediction.... there will be Episode VII haters too... because they can.
That is not so much a prediction as a hard cold fact already.

If I allow myself to be serious for a moment, the prequels has a number of good looking ships but I don't include the Naboo fighter in that group. That is not 'little Annie' hatred speaking, I just do not find the design appealing.

Good job, especially that Mon Calamari Cruiser!
However, I do think your ships deserve some better pictures or is it perhaps a lack of a good camera that is the problem?
