I am a firm believer of Murphy and that he hates me personally. My worst dice streak was a game of Flames of War where I failed a 4+ test on a D6 and with a re-roll 7 turns in a row! That's 14 failed 4+ tests! I do believe the odds of that happening is 0.000061%.

There's not a lot left to do now and I should be finished with it before the weekend is over. I suppose the biggest and most easily seen addition today is the satellite dish. The dish is an old Macross FAST pack exhaust nozzle that I've cut in half and fitted with a short piece of pianowire. The baseplate the dish stands on is taken from a Tamiya WW2 German tank kit. Also new for today is a size comparison shot. See, I sometimes remember what my adoring fans request.

Another update, but as I am firmly in small detail territory, it's getting harder and harder to see some of the work I'm doing. To spice things up at least a little I separated the front from the back. I'm quite pleased with that piece of engineering, throughout the entire build the central column has been a separate piece and yet it slots so precisely in place that you can't tell it's not glued in place. Sorry aknorthroader, forgot to take the requested picture. I'll try to fix that with the next update. I can tell however that the ship is about 8.9 centimeters long.

This isn't bad at all. You really seem to have put some thought into this and your ace skills seem fairly balanced. I could see myself playing a campaign using these kind of rules.

Gameplay aspects from the PC games I'd love to see

While the OP might have some interesting ideas, I'd rather see more mission mechanics brought over. I'm talking hyperspace jumps, boarding actions, reinforcement from off board capitol ships, using sensors to ID ships with specific cargo and similar things. Most of this would probably be tied to scenarios but more ways to play is not exactly a bad thing. -
Sorry, no update today, but please do keep feeding my ego. Soon it will reach critical mass and I'll be unable to show any humility!

Remember people, never feed the trolls, they sustain themselves on your attention.

More pics. Just like yesterday, the first is the top and the other is the underside. All major pieces assembled and glued into place, with the exception of the middle engine and it's connecting column.
-
Another update. First photo is the top and the other is the underside. Getting real close to gluing all the major pieces together. After that it's really only minor detailing left.

You sir are evil and deserves to be crowned emperor of all evilness.

Almost everything used so far is plain old plastikard/styrene plastic in a multitude of shapes and sizes. The only exception is the front 'cone' of the left and right engine, those are leftover buckets from WW2 German tank plastic kits.

Haven't been able to do much today but here is the update

That's actually too early to say, but I'm sure I'll scrounge up something from my bits box. Lotz of shiny gubbinz dere. Oh look, I just channeled my inner Gork (or posibbly Mork).

There are a number of versions of it and and some are indeed less 'stretched'.

I don't want a subforum. Why? Because it would see a lot less traffic than the main one and therefore it would be better to post there instead of the subforum.

As some of you may know, I am currently building a type of ship called YG-4210. However it has taken me a good amount of time before I could show you guys anything worthwhile. Quite frankly this model is effing hard to build. In any case, enjoy!

Nuln oil glossy or ashy? I suppose it might happen if the wash is untouched for a long time. Just shake it properly before you use it

Army Painters Dark and Strong tone inks (not actually inks) should be your first choice in almost any situation. If rumours are to believed they are in truth GWs old Badab black and Devlan mud washes. As for pics, well here is a slightly shameless plug of my own repaints http://alternativewargamer.blogspot.se/search/label/Star%20Wars%3A%20X-wing

I am well aquainted with the DP-20, and I have fond memories of it from some of the older Star Wars computer games. That said, I'm not very interested in building one. Partly because I've always found the design to be fairly odd and somewhat ugly and partly because I suspect it to be rolled out from FFG as an epic ship in the future. As for the SunCrusher some people are talking about, nothing could be simpler. I'll just take a hat of a particularly pointy pen, cut it to the appropriate length and put a small lego saucer on top. Done! As for balancing it? Also simple, if you bring it to the table you win! Seriously, whoever came up with the Suncrusher to begin with deserves a nuclear boot to the head. Overpowered piece of sheit.

Well eff it. I can't stay away from that YG-4210. I'm gonna have a go at it! And after that I'll build a JV-7 unless of course I go completely bonkers and decide to build the Rouge Shadow instead.

Argh! My eyes! That so called 'Doomtreader' hurts my eyes! God dangit it's ugly. Heck I could actually imagine it as a monster in good old Doom.

gabe69velasquez : Oh, I really like those two. However both suffer from a lack of information and detailed plans, specifically how they are supposed to look underneath. At least I can't find anything. The VCX-820 might be a bit on the small side as well Sorry but no. I've never liked that ship. Yes I really like that version as well, especially the wings as they would be easier to build, but that's the only picture of it that seem to exist. Which one? The sentinel landing craft? A picture would be nice.

Now this repaint seem promising but the pictures are unfortunately not the best. Could you pretty please with a cherry on top take some better ones? *SORRY* Didnt see your last post before I pressed the submit button

Apparently I didn't make it clear enough at the beginning. I'm looking to build another ship that can be classified as a large ship, not fighter sized or huge/epic. So far the best suggestion has been the YT-1930 but I suspect that would be better off as a conversion of a regular YT 1300 instead of a scratchbuild.
-
Yes you deserve a nuclear boot as well, though I suppose the head would be a bad target since it obviously do not contain much of worth.
