  1. Bridge is mostly complete by now and I've also started on the lower engine assembly.
  2. Not bad. I might paint a Krayt Fang as well in the near future so seeing how others paint it can give me much needed inspiration.
  3. Update! Though not the most interesting one since I'm at the filling and sanding stage. Lots of Milliput and liquid green stuff that needs to be sanded down.
  4. Yes that sums up how the internet usually express itself. But that's okay I can sustain myself on jealousy as well as awe. For they are but two sides of the same coin. I'm awesome like that. Besides, Joe shouldn't talk. Who else but him would look at a GI Joe toy and think 'That would make a great Star Wars ship.'? That is some kind of awesome as well!
  5. I've seen some sources claim the ship to be 57m, 65m and even as big as 150m! Correct size or not, it will still be an awesome ship when I'm finished.
  6. Almost forgot, I tried disregarding the prongs when measuring the ship. The width and height was closer to being correct then but the overall length, with prongs, ended up at over 25cm! Thats huge ship territory. I also found a pic where a YT-2400 was almost side by side with an AEG so I could extrapolate the width to be fairly close to a 2400 which is 28,5m.
  7. At 45m it would be 16.67cm long. Due to practical concerns (those damnably long prongs) I've downsized it slightly so that it will be about 15-15.5 cm long. Also, I did discover that the height and width are clearly wrong. For instance, 35m wide would mean that it would be 13cm wide, which is wider by a large margin than the length of the main hull (disregarding the prongs)! Just by looking at the ship should tell you how wrong that would be. As for how big the ship was in SW:Galaxies, well I have no idea as I've never played it. So from the information I have, yes the ship is slightly smaller than it should be. Probably closer to 1/300 scale than 1/270.
  8. Aw, you almost made me nostalgic for the eighties Wonder. Almost.
  9. So I've taken a commission to build an AEG-77 Vigo. In some weak moments I almost wish I hadn't. This ship is complex! Anyway here is my current progress. The main hull has been built around a set of different shaped boxes and that's what the first set of pictures mainly show.
  10. What is that exactly? Is it custom made for storing paint bottles or is it something never intended for it?
  11. You could do it like this: This is from when I repainted a Firespray. The mounting peg had to be removed before painting and it broke in the process as is usually the case when removing pegs. I just drilled a hole in both the peg and the model and glued a piece of piano wire into place as a reinforcement. Of course in your case you would need to use one of the mounting pins instead, but other than that the process is the same. Not only does this ensure that the pieces are properly aligned, it also gives extra strength and makes it easy for any glue to cure.
  12. Interesting that some of you seem to think the style doesn't fit a space ship. That go me thinking, would his take on the Millenium Falcon be better recieved?
  13. Why use a HWK when you could a Y-wing instead?
  14. As the community currently stands, if it isn't well known, far too many rebel (no pun intended) against it. I would love to see FFG getting enough freedom to produce something completely new, or at the very least something so obscure that barely even the hardcore Star Wars fans would struggle to recognize it. In fact, that may be the only way to give the game the same type of longevity as other miniature games enjoy (like Warhammer and Warmachine).
  15. And here I thought everyone would go 'What a fabulous paintjob!'. Just goes to show how varied everyones opinions are. Of course, those of you who do not think the model is great are clearly wrong and should defer to my opinion. * Wink, wink. Nudge, nudge.*
  16. Buhallin: Everyone is entitled to their own opinion so I can't say you are wrong. I do think I might be the exact opposite though. I probably judge the technical side first, then the artistic bit.
  17. It's nice to see people being inspired. As for a pilot name I'm suggesting Lonke Osbod as that's my Star Wars name according to this http://mathbits.com/MathBits/CompSci/LibraryFunc/SWname.htm
  18. I just noticed that he has some done some other X-wing re-paints as well. Go check them out!
  19. Let's be very clear here, I have NOT painted this ship, that honor goes to a guy calling himself Caiman. That I'm only providing a link and a picture as it really deserves to be noticed. If you like it, you'd better go and vote for him. 'Mkay? http://www.coolminiornot.com/363638
  20. Good work as always, but do you ever build something other than YT-1300 conversions? Don't get me wrong, your work is fantastic but I would love to see what you can do if you completely scratch build something.
  21. One of my friends vehemently argues that only real men can do pink justice. So the question is perhaps, are you a real man?
  22. Just had to post this. A little gift from a friend called gabe69velasquez. Thanks man!

    Ica repaints

I have painted one 3D printed model myself (an alternative Necromunda model a friend gave me with the instructions to 'go nuts') and seen a few others (mainly alternative Flames of War tanks) and it is clear to me that 3D printers are not quite good enough yet. In 5 to 10 years time they will most likely reach the level they need to be at to compete with more conventional methods but for now I mostly avoid 3D printed models.

    Heart or Head

I think my first expansions were a TIE Fighter, an X-wing and an A-wing. Mostly because that was just about all there was in store at the time. My second purchase however... well that started as a well thought out purchase of a HWK (I had read up on its buffing abilities) but I came home with three or four other expansions as well. I was like a kid in a toy store. 'Well there is the HWK, let's grab one. Oh, oh there's a B-wing as well! And a Y-wing!! And a TIE advanced!!! GOTTA BUY THEM ALL!!!!'
